New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

Hi all, got a new toy and I thought it was about time I posted in here, a friend made me this glass rosin stamp and it really helps collecting the rosin off of the parchment nice and fast. It was a bit more challenging getting the rosin off of the stamp but the fridge was a big help in the end.

This was the first test with some dried, cured Rotten Panda flowers from a friend's indoor. The final picture is how it buttered up after 24 hours. Really very stinky. Peace, TEC

Is that flower rosin? i've never seen it butter up like that before mine always stays golden/amber and stays stable.

Yes, it's flower rosin. I mostly get the same results as you too although it's dependent on a few factors - temperature, terp content of strain, how dry/cured the weed is/ambient humidity. If I'm really careful to press at a low temp I'm more likely to get some buddering. Not usually as fast as this though, normally after a week or so. It's been a fairly damp spring here so rh is high but other rosin I've made recently has stayed stable. Rosin that I made with bubble hash from this plant has buddered very readily too when pressed at fairly low temps so in this case i'd guess it's strain specific.

the main thing is to retain soft terpy extract, regardless of the budder phenom, which will be different with different strains, and at different temps and times to budder etc. very complicated, but not important. for sure if you extract hot enough that the extract is hard like bho, its not as strong as the softer terpy stuff. you went too hot, if you get shatter with heat press pretty much. this is also strain/moisture level dependent of course, and just as variable pretty much, but still, harder is worser.

Mine is hard when cold, when warm at room temp it is soft and slightly sticky, still has a great flavor. I pressed at 180-200*f...

Mine is all pressed at 220 and it stays soft and sticky for about a week. If you want to extend the "life" of your resulting material, put it in the fridge, it will stay in whatever state it's in and not change. I put it into an air-tight container first to avoid condensation from temperature changes. I've pulled out stuff that was made months ago and the only difference was a little less flavor and smell.

i just pressed a bunch (like 9 varieties) of pretty dry material (larf and trim) at 230*F and got a range of consistencies. normally i press well cured material that holds in the 60% rH range in the jar at 220*F and i always get a variety of consistencies. budder, sap, sugar wax, caramel, pull and snap, and shatter.

these were all processed and handled in the same way (dry trim followed by a cure) and pressed in one day in a controlled environment (our lung room).

True. Dave over on FC uses a CuNi alloy as I recall.

Hearing a lot about distorted/divoted aluminum plates. I was about to grab some premade plates/controller to get going, but Watson/Omega parts is probably a wiser move.

I was leaning towards laminating a thermally conductive plate between iron or steel. Dabinator sells something similar. I believe you get a quad controller but the price still burns deep. At least quality doesn't appear to be an issue.
