New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

How big was the jack that crushed your plates? I've only used a 6 ton with my plates, cranking it fairly hard. It's been used approximately 1,000 times according to my paper usage.

12 ton, went through like butter, I'll post a photo sometime. Now I need recommendations on new plates for the 12 ton. Right now I'm looking at Clean_Extractions and Low Temp Plates, both found on Instagram. Looking for other recommendations though!

Real need for a build thread with wiring guide. The parts those two are selling barely total 100. Even paying an hour shop time for plate construction, it would be 1/3 - 2/3 the damage. No name Chinese thermocouples and cartridge heaters go by the pound.

Hell there's a guy on eBay or Amazon selling a package deal of PID controller, thermocouples and heaters for double cost, 50 or so.

I am wondering if I should switch directions, and go rosin over BHO. I have all the equipment for a lil terp, but only used once a couple of years ago. Worried about blowing up.

Can rosin tech be used on older bud, or does it have to be fresh and sticky?

Can anyone point me to equipment for doing at least an ounce at a time?

Thanks.

Loc, I don't think that an ounce at a time is going to be very efficient, I would dry sift, or bubble hash it and then press your hash or kief.

i love my @timewizard_greyfox platens. holding up perfectly in my 10t dake.

i press 14+g at a time fwiw.

everyone should check out elysian research. their press is awesome but they also publish lots of open source tech that will be useful to any squisher. search for their youtube channel as well.

Fuckin' eh, I'd only seen the one posted to a blog/RIU/GC. Thanks. Edit: Hah, that's the one, my idiot phone would never load it proper. Nice to finally see the last three pages.

I've pretty much come to the end of scabbing irons together. Stripped parts for future use on other projects and started shopping cartridges again.

It was fun as all hell building, rebuilding, soldering, etc, but something goes wrong after 4-6 hours and I don't baby tools. If it can't do a full days work, I needs a better tool. There were a few things I could have done better, but that just seemed to delay the inevitable.

Anyone have anything to chime in on heaters? Can they be mounted in thermal grease? Any issue going below 180*F(clamped thermo, not infrared)?

I've found a few American brands that look top notch, my only concern is the high numbers qouted (temp). I suppose a few phonecalls would answer that, I'm definitely not the type of person who will Google for hours to avoid contact with humans.

Anyone try rubber flex PTC? Doubtful it would hold under pressure, but the lauded benefit of perfect heat control sounded tempting to find a work around (smaller panels mounted like rectangular PTC heaters?).

It's the machine part that's stopping me. I already have 2 PID controllers, cartridge heaters, etc. I just don't have the ability to drill into steel or weld aluminum :( I also had some trouble figuring out how to program them. It seemed to me that I couldn't program them until I have them mounted into the plates, so they could self calibrate.

if you are looking for advice or words of encouragement, then skip BHO and focus on rosin.

ever spend time in a burn ward? having your face and hands melt is one of the things to be avoided in life

You are too good looking for that man!

my .02 brother because lots of people care about you, even this know nothing who is typing ;)

Just FYI, pre-pressing your buds into snakes or pucks really seems to work much better than squishing a plain raw bud.

Depending on your individual parts, you may be able to submerge in oil or water for a test. Without a medium between the heaters and thermocouple there is no way to test.

Some people may take that as an opportunity to electrocute themselves and save us the worry of their genes in the pool.

Any shop will cut and drill to spec (pictures with measurements). Hell some of the guys selling presses are shopping the entire process out.

Think laminating other wise. JB Weld with a wee bit (5% by weight) aluminum filings makes a reasonable thermally conductive epoxy. Graphite grease will help with thermocouple/cartridge heat transfer, depending on clearance.

Yeah I have heard the pre press helps. this was just a quick test with the new toy. I am very happy with the product taste amazing, even though the buds aren't the greatest

So after you drill the metal, you need to put grease in the holes before putting the cartridges in, correct? How do they stay in there?

I don't believe graphite is required, I see a lot of what looks like dry fit and have to assume that is workable. Clearance plays a large part. It's just something we used with boilers and that I was planning to use on the next press.

Edited the last post for clarity.

I had my metal shop guy drill the holes for the cartridges JUST slightly larger than the cartridges and then small allen screws coming in from the sides to hold them tight.
