New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

I spent the weekend at the Emerald Cup. Figured I would look around before investing in anymore then a flat iron. There was nothing hardly at all about rosin squishing tech. Even the demo given was done with a flat iron at one of the seminars put on .
You guys in this thread are the cutting edge of figuring this thing out. Thanks for the time you put in and for posting your results ...much appreciated !!!

Or just don't let them heat up to 300....it has an on /off switch. Let it heat up for 10-15 seconds, then shut it off. I do it everyday.....no dimmer switch needed.

or heat up to 300, turn off for 30 seconds or whatever(test) and press with it off.

Whatever floats your boat, either way works...I press it with it off. Not sure the point of getting all the way to 300f and waiting 30 sec for it to cool down. No need to get it up to 300f, unless you are pressing wet material. If you shut it off before it gets 300f, you don't have to wait for it to cool down fir 30 sec or put your material at risk of getting too hot. either way will work, and times may varying according to material being used...so testing is a must.

I don't think a light dimmer would blow. Most are rated for 10 to 15 amps. Do those hair straighteners use many amps? I doubt it. It should say on the box. If it just shows watts, take the watts and divide by 110 and that's your amps (assuming your on a 110v service).

I use a common fan dimmer for my platens and it works fine.

Two heat plates will blow a 15 amp switch no problem. A hair straighter will not, your right. I was talking about the press.:tiphat:

Yah let us know how that goes for you. I bought a t-shirt press, tried it for a day, and put it on the shelf. Just no where near the pressure and the right type of plates that you need :( Hope you have better results, or you're using it for dry sift, not flower.

How do you guys cure your rosin after squishing?

I cure mine by putting it on a hot nail then inhaling lol just kidding. No need to cure though its not wet buds or bho. In fact it will degrade and loose terpenes the longer you let it sit. Nice press!

Not sure you can really "cure" rosin. You can cure buds or crystal, and then press that. Consume soonest for maximum terps or store in airtight and/or frozen area.

nice press TWL! may i ask where you got it and if it feels well constructed? looks pretty identical to the harbor freight one...

i'm just passing along the great advice i got in this thread. ringodoggie and sunfire helped me with that one.

lol, get with the times, man. I did BHO for 12 years or more, starting in 2002. every day for over a decade, now i have switched 100% to heat press, since march. Way better for personal use, and someday soon, if not already, it will be able to made in large quantities easily i am sure.

BelieDat !

Got it at Casa de Depot! They had to order it in so it took a few days but I read in a few differnet places that its a much better built press than that from harbor freight so i paid the extra couple bucks and got it. Seems to work great and feels pretty damn sturdy
