New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

Sounds cool, i was just wondering if you know what % are they getting at 20-50 grams Squishes? And what % arenyou getting with the Medisun? Labor goes down with massive Squishes...but is the efficiency better/worse/same? Thanks

I can't really compare percentages just yet, since the product used was different for each press. When I get back to town on Friday with my press I'll do some testing comparing the medisun and happy buddha press and will report back with my findings.

I've been using the foil backed paper by Oil Slick, not that weird plastic paper they sell, and it's been working great. The oil comes right off, def the best part. It also stays nice and flat and I don't know if the foil does anything for heat transfer, but seems to work great as I said. I've tried pressing at 310 and don't get as good of results as 330.

I'm done smoking nugs, I enjoy pressing them too much to see them smoked.

:D

Thanks everyone for being so kind and sharing, I am on board 100%

Read the thread and feel like I know some of you! Respecting and repeating wisdom you have shared. I have been squishing about a week and I feel confident already and happy with the switch because of this thread!

i give em to a med guy for cookies. they have not a lot of stone, but still a good sedative type of effect he says. boring but effective.

Pressed a half ounce tonight and just wanted to report...

Landrace Afghan from World of Seeds. About 10 months from harvest. Always kept at RH69 with Boveda pacs

I took 7 grams of popcorn buds and pressed them whole, as is, right from the jar. Most buds were slightly under 1 gram. I think I did 9 presses for 7 grams.

I took 7 more grams and put them in my little food processor and lightly chopped them. Not fine but, more like a pipe tobacco. From that, I made 7 each, 1 gram pucks using my arbor press and a tube style hash puck press.

I pressed both batches in the same manner, in the same parchment, folded the same way, at the same temperature (about 250F), for the same duration (about 1 minute) under the same pressure (about 5 tons).

The yield from both batches was almost exactly the same. 0.63g and 0.65g for a total of 1.28 grams from 14 grams. Just under 10%. About my regular yield from all 6 of the different strains I have pressed. Not sure why I am getting such shitty yield but I am working on a new design. I will do a second press just to see how much more volume I can get. I don't usually like the second press rosin. It doesn't have the amazing taste (which is the only benefit I get from smoking) and since I always have more than I can smoke, I just don't really need to. I'll do something with the pancakes when I get a big bag of them. LOL Still, I will second press this batch just to see what additional yield I can get.

The rosin from this strain is really different than the other 5 strains. This stuff is so shattery and dry that it's actually hard to collect because it's NOT sticky enough. LOL It flakes off the parchment and flies all over the place. Especially if it's dry and there's a lot of static.

OK, that's about it. Not much in the report other than I got the same out of untouched buds as I did pucks (which is contradictory to what several others people have said here).

if its really dry and fly away, try pressing for less time. i have an og cross that goes too dry powdery paste if you press too long.

if you use a glass collection tool, try heating it up first if its too hard and shattery.

Cool, thanks. I'll try pressing for less time next time. It really stops flowing after about 40 or 45 seconds anyway.

I use a small metal screwdriver to collect. I just scrape it across the parchment and it collects on itself. Is glass really better than metal? Why?

sometimes its easier to roll up the rosin on the end of a blunt glass tool than to scrape it up. seems especially true for shattery stuff ime. it helps keep it from flying everywhere.

i've got a glass wand with a 1/2" bead on one end and a 2" disk on the other. it fits in my hand really nicely and is a great rosin collecting tool. props to hmk for the idea.

I would not expose my Nugs to a food processor, the put into pucks. Pucks do not work well IMO...you have to have the perfect amount. I personally think you should try .5 gram Squishes, then you can play with the timing more. It is easier to get the most out of your material, if you do not try to squish too much at a time. Roll your material into a tight ball or snake. Pucks suck!

metal or glass, larger diameter is way better. i had a small glass roller, but my larger one is awesome in comparison. its big enough i can collect many sheets with no overload, and the weight and size keep it cool, or warm if you heat it. even for one sheet collection its really nice, a large diameter roller. i made stamps too, and they are not as good imo.

if you guys want nice glass rollers, talk to me on my IG - hmkglass, i will set you up.

Thanks High.

I think its #edenhighcentre, in Spain, they have the one rosin roller that is out there that I made so far, they love it.

I bought a soil grown stamp and i wasn't too happy with it. So I went back to collecting with a glass pencil dabber by sherbert. Very interested in the roller, especially since I wanted a roller to thin out slabs anyways. Do you have a function vid of collecting and removing the rosin using the glass roller? I'll be sending you a DM on instagram shortly
