NEW Colorado Growers Thread

This is my biggest nail-biter. It is the PCK x Grape Ape cross that fought me since last summer. It wouldn't clone. After 3 heavy pollen brushings i only got 5 seeds. 4 popped, 1 was male, 2 refuse to grow (actually she was so slow i couldn't believe it)...this is a one off never to be seen again unicorn. But after 5 years of chasing the perfect PURPLE bud...I think i found a good Swan Song. The Grape smell is sooo intense. That was what was missing in the PCK...It had no real flavor notes to keep your interest. The Grape Ape brought it out in BIG time.
But she needs about 2 more weeks to fill-out and finish turning purple...this purple is just the beginning of how the PCK side colors out the calyxes...i hope she makes it so i can say i really did it.

I understand the desire to chase your own creations and make your own cross but did you ever look into the Instagram user @krunkz_kreationz (krunkzkreationz.com)? He is selling packs for $50 bucks now I think and he has like 10 different strains that are all bred for purples, grapes, and indicas I believe. Check it out.

I think my problem is that i used a whole gallon (2 teaspoons)...just not sure if it is too strong or too much sprayed???

I think the solution might have been too strong, yes.

Honestly i am seeing that Indicas just seem to be a problem in Colorado and from what i have found there is no Sativa Purple. I am seriously fighting with my-self to decide to quit chasing it.
I keep thinking it is time to try to find a chocolate Sativa???
Indicas just draw too many natural bad bugs, they seem to mold easy, they NEVER grow very big like i like. It is just my opinion.

I think the solution was the right strength, i sprayed too much and the leaves held on to it as it dried leading to more applied to the leaves than i should have.
I am use to drench spraying plants. Start from the bottom pointing up till you reach the top then spray pointing down till you hit the ground. I guess i should really look at anything i spray and consider reducing my concentrations??? Hard lesson learned.

Plants are ugly this morning. It's 23F now.
Still frozen solid it seems. They suffered last night for sure.
Will asses the situation further after I'm finished cutting wood today.

Whereabouts are you? Somebody on IG was telling me they were at 20 this morning where they are (San Luis Valley)

I don't know how low it got last night but I did have frost everywhere this morning. I pulled tarps over my Black Lime Reserve and Cocoon last night and put water containers full of hot water under there with them to give them a little heat to tide them over. They were fine when I pulled the tarps off this morning. Interestingly enough I had a little GG4 next to the Black Lime Reserve that looked pitiful this morning when I woke up but perked right back up after the sun came up. How did yours fair after the sun came up today?

I see harvest in your immediate future. It's all good, though, unless they really needed to go longer...

Just a little light frost here in Denver, varying by neighborhood. Lots of strains will take that but not 23F.

All the plants suffered a slight amount of frostbite on the fan leaves.
Two plants were frostbitten about their buds.
I needed to cut off the wind tunnel that goes to the frostbitten plants.
Overall though, most everything is fine...

I'll be out cutting leaves off for a few hours. All went well from my point of view.

All of mine look good too. I passed-out from not sleeping for 3 days so i didn't watch the change this Friday morning. Thermometer showed lowest as 32.4F, But i think i forgot to set it after the Wednesday night???

Tonight should be the last nail biter for a couple of weeks...I hope!

I saw 35.8F at around 6:30am on Saturday...COOL!
Now to just get past Halloween. I swear this the last year i flip after June. The Drought we saw for about a Decade seems to be reversing. How long till i see 6-12" of snow on Halloween again? I SERIOUSLY hope that it is not this year. But i feel from the last couple of years that that situation may return in next few years.
This kind of long term observations are what make natives more in touch. It is a slight advantage only when we heed our own advice though...LOL

Just joining the thread. Great to see others doing good work outside, I too dealt with some cold nights that the plants didn't like. Can't wait to post some pic's when the girls finish in 1-2 weeks. Hopefully, no real bad cold fronts/snow come through till after Halloween. But, like Corvette Doc said, I think we might be due lol

I've got some variation on maturity levels amongst the different varieties I sprouted. Some soon, some later. All good with me. I can't trim it all at the same time anyhow.

Key Lime Cake (Sin City)

Key Lime Cake (Sin City)

Tossed out this Sin City freebie and glad I did! She's got about 1-2 weeks left and looks great. Smell leans more to some kind of cake batter, earthy og with a small hint him lime/citrus of shorts. Can't wait to do a smoke report =)
