@dubi thanks for your response. They are facing north, so they get full sun pretty much the whole day, while being protected from the occasional frost from mid mid May.

@goingrey haha. I'll start them a month earlier next time and get a proper wall going. We were still getting days in the high 30s last week. It would have been nice to be watering in full shade.

New Caledonia girl 1 is under severe risk of getting chopped anytime
La Niña has faded, draught is over and everything is back to high humidity rainforest conditions and I am not sure if I can push it or not because there are still white pistils
@dubi
How do New Caledonians fare on high humidity? Do they rot easily or have good resistance to 100% humidity on night and mornings?
While in veg the plants got attacked by fauna on fan leaves, flowers are intact and so far no rot
I had in veg PM. The combination of Bordeaux mixture plus potassium soap has been effective, plants are PM free

New Caledonians are starting to develop foxtails outdoors. Is this how it is supposed to be or is it the reaction to high humidity?
Early trial from immmature bud had a very nice high
Looking forwards to smoke this stock

New Caledonia Girl 1 is more chunky than the rest. The other 3 girls grow spike shape buds

Looking forwards to smoke this one too

It was shorter duration of high than Double zamal. The early sample was uplifting weed
I was surprised to get high from samples dried at the vaporizer without any cure at all and immature
It is a new feature for me in sativas. Thais need long cure before you get high

You will probably find these improve over time as well then.

Glad to see you growing New Caledonian @elanius and that you are finding the terp profile of the strain appealing. Did you graft clones from different NC females into one plant ?
Hola Dubi,
the smell is really a masterpiece. I think what makes it special is the combination of spices and Asian type of juicy fruits. It also has this rare Asian fruit musk, that I first found in some not that common strains of mangoes in Borneo, also campedak fruit has this smell. Its very interesting to find it in Cannabis. And all the phenotypes have some variations of this smell in it. Some are much faster flowering than others, some appears to be quite wild which are the ones Im most curious about.

I started to experiment with grafting lately, so yes all of them are grafted on different strain.

This one has the best smell and resin, for now.

can you describe the smells? ive had plants "speak to me" with their aromas. i believe thats your body telling you this plant is a keeper (for your physiology)
whats she smell like?
I have described it above but to be honest, I loved a lot of smells before and those plants were not the keepers. For me, in general, often the plant that is not that exciting is the best in effect. The only exception I would say is the sour metallic thyme of Haze, every time I encounter this one its the keeper or close to it.

NC female. First time I have ever had the red sap in any plant. I have seen other growers with it on here though, with NC or other strains. The other two female NC's I have were clear.

Anthocyanin production corellates with higher resistance to pests, stress and fungal infection. It would be interesting to see if this plant has higher resistance to mold/mildew/budrot.

Nice! I have it labelled and getting setup to clone so I will keep an eye on it to see if I notice a difference.

Being a subtropical sativa from wet island, the resistance against fungus and botrytis of this New Caledonian line is really good. During our outdoor test of the strain before its release here in the wet coast, the only NC flowers that succumbed to botrytis were due to caterpillars, but not due to rains or high levels of moisture.

How did they stand the humid conditions in your greenhouse since your last update ?

Although a bit pheno dependant, bud density is fairly good within the line for a sativa, so if you are experiencing foxtailing in all the females then it's most probably due to lack of proper light intensity.

Glad the early smoking tests of New Caledonian and Double Zamal are already promising even without being fully ripen.

Yesterday I chopped New Caledonia girl 3
Absolutely no rot no fungus
I have 2 phenos: girls 1 and 4 despite their difference is size give the same kind of buds which are fatter and have instant high(cut it, dry it, smoke it and get high). This is the more productive pheno
Girls 2 and 3 are the spike pheno. These plants grow flowers in spike form. It is a trimming nightmare and this is brick pheno. I bricked half of the girl 2 but this one I will just keep a couple of top shot buds and the rest will be brick. the spike pheno is ideal for bricking
They are all resinous, leaves charas in your hand and made it very well here, they like the southern hemisphere sun and environment

So glad to hear that @elanius :D your feedback is much appreciated  especially knowing all the experience you have with high quality sativas ... I also got pretty excited with the scents of the best NC individuals when i first started to explore and preserve this strain .... such a wonderful, bright and inspiring sweet fruity-floral-musky terpene profile that instantly makes me feel optimistic and thinking on holidays on a beautiful tropical beach ☀️ heheheheh

and wow  what it is amazing is your grafting technique, much :respect:!

Please, keep us updated with your insights on the variations you are finding in the line between the different individuals.

Beautiful @Peace :) Thanks for sharing the picture! 'Bleeders' are quite common to find within New Caledonia sativa line!
My single NC 2 is a girl! And she's getting into a growth spurt stage. :)

Happy to hear that @TexasTea :D Very limited amount of seeds of the hybrid version 2 were released, so i'm curious to see more plants from growers from this release!

Glad your 4 NC girls finished well there without pests or fungus @funkyhorse ;)

Last NC girl got chopped down
Beautiful grinspoonesque buds which are special for brick
This is the most resinous of the non meaty girls making spikes.
Also the smell profile is different. The first girl with the more meaty buds and more productive had the fruity smell which faded but these ones making spikes are not smelly at all
I have the first 2 girls in jars and the more fruity meaty one gave x 3 quantity final product than the grinspoonesque one
Looking forwards to try the brick in 6 months and the top shot I will start vaping in a couple of months
Top shot, it is really beautiful to see
