I think i explained how to fix auto traits in a non auto line in the Auto Malaw x NL or Auto Zamaldelica thread. Such literature is also widely available in internet. You can create a separate thread about how to create an auto line if you feel like, but let's leave this thread for New Caledonia, this marvelous sativa line truly deserves our attention in its current state.
Just got some of those New Caledonia seeds. I have a lot on my plate for what goes outside this year, but I’m very interested in these…!! Excited about the flavors and effects, straight up.

It's without any doubt my favorite local sativa in recent years, the effects are sooo good! Terps too! Can't wait to introduce this line into new breeding projects, i have already a few in mind that i foresee potential.

I opened a jar of NC the other day and it had gone moldy on me. Hygrometer said 62. I was disgusted, so will have to get my moisture down to below 60 apparently, or store in my freezer I guess.

Sad to hear Tex.. I’ll be calibrating mine before chop after reading that! Maybe the freezer is the best place for NC anyway if she doesn’t so much need to be cured?

i made the caledonia(f) x balochi(m) but have not tested them yet. I screwed the balochi x new caledonia because i was lazy and waited too long with watering and the plants dried up. Honestly i have no motivation to take new cuttings at the moment

Be interested in the results of those when they sprout, I think it was in a DJ article bumped by you he preferred the Afghan to be pollen donor, similar mix of genetics to the Thai mex Afghan he was working on.

Currently smoking some of the last remaining NC Buds from the last years harvest and still very pleased, especially with its effects. NC1 really stands out with its sweet creamy peach smell/flavour and it seems to me also the most potent. Found some very few seeds on 2 & 3. Pollen most likely comes from the NC1 herm. Far from ideal but since Ive got to like this strain a lot and the difficulty of obtaining ace gear in Colombia, ive decided to give them a try. So far they grow healthy and the first are showing their sex by now (two months after germination). No sign of hermaphroditism so far but I will keep a close eye on them.

Some of my last NC buds, with more than 6 months of curing, gone long time ago, sorry for the crappy pic. I really miss a fresh harvest of this sativa, for me New Caledonia's potency and quality of the effects are on par with Haze, yet i consider NC more positive, brighter than Haze which is usually colder. Terps are very different too, NC is super fruity, Haze terps are ....well: Haze terps far to be so fruity. I love both.

The strain description states: "We recommend to switch her into flowering after 15 days from seed, or starting from clones rooted for at least 7 days. We recommend 11 (light)/13 (darkness) photoperiod for the flowering indoors, in order to boost the flowering, and to avoid reflowerings or excessive stretching in early flowering."
dubi, if I flip to a flowering photoperiod after 15 days, how many days do you expect it would take for flowering to start? Or stated differently: How long until harvest from the moment I flipped to flowering photoperiod?

You will need probably 10-12 weeks from when you switch to flower. Plants may vary though and you might get one finishing sooner if conditions were right. But most of these tamed heirloom type Sativa's are going to run anywhere from 10-16 weeks. My New Caledonias were a little on the faster side, but one took 3 weeks longer to finish.
Hi rdc420, it depends a lot if you switch to flower unmatured seedlings or old clones.
If you put to flower sexually mature NC clones then they will finish after approx 13-14 weeks (as stated in the flowering time of the strain).
If you switch to flower 2 week old tropical sativa seedlings that have not reached their sexual maturity yet, then the seedlins will need to reach their sexual maturity first (at least one month more) before they can start the flowering.
Also, growing variables like temps, feeding, light intensity, size of the pots, etc .... affect a lot to the length of flowering time of tropical sativa plants.
The longer the flowering of the tropical strain, the more these variables can affect the duration of the flowering.
If you put to flower sexually mature NC clones then they will finish after approx 13-14 weeks (as stated in the flowering time of the strain).
If you switch to flower 2 week old tropical sativa seedlings that have not reached their sexual maturity yet, then the seedlins will need to reach their sexual maturity first (at least one month more) before they can start the flowering.

Just vacuum seal your jars. I’ve had zero mold issues since doing that and no other issues.
Here are some pics of what is supposed to be New Caledonia II. I bought these at Alchimia btw.

I am almost sure that you have New Caledonia 2, after all. NC1 is much slower to flower, I think (see just a few posts above).
I recently grew out two female New Caledonia 2, and I was also surprised by how tall they grew.
But mine also flowered early like yours. And finished early, looked ready at 8 weeks even.
In my case, however, the stretch stopped abruptly at ca three weeks into flower. To the point that both were partly overshadowed by neighbouring (Thai Chi) plants.
I intend to give them another go as soon as I can, because the aromas alone were incredible.
Both had the juicyfruit/tutti frutti, plus the mentally refreshing thai/ sour lemon lime aromas. One developed an onion/sweat background and the other more towards lemon shoe polish. The little I tried so far has had an extremely clean, uplifting effect. A very good quality high, just as described for New Caledonia (1).
Hi Onboad, thanks for your input. Yes you are right, the flowering time, I did not consider that. I am in week 8 and from the looks they need another 2-3 weeks.
Do you have any pictures? Would like to see your plant.
