Nevilles Haze X Everything....

I have a pic in here of the seedlings, some are really kicking ass, too bad none of them are mine!I planted enough to make up for errors and freaks and I def have enough good ones but some of my own are lookin' kinda lame:).I have a feeling they'll open up and take off when I give them some space, anyway this is a photo essay of the "Early Pearl" grow, this is an old plant, 54 of 12/12 and 60 of veg.I've been trimming out the lowers and any buggy spots but this girl's tired. She can't be trimmed other than removing leaves with no resin or bug bites, it's too hard.Looking at trimming this is like looking at moving a pallet of concrete blocks, the resins grab your scissors fast so it's hang it all or nothing.:)I hope these pics do her some justice, she's about the fastest def most resin packed thing I've seen yet. These are all different tops around the sides...

Some seedlings under my little 150 hps.The plants under this 150 are much better than those under the 250 even though the 250 plants are lower, I'm guessing the bulb is toast the difference is too obvious. These are sharp though and I have a bunch more like them so so far so good, these are Digitals and Golden Goats.

Neville's Haze x Coastal Collision F2s

Hey everyone just wanted to give a quick update. I'm on day 24 of bloom here and the pollen is flying. Not all over my tent (thank god) but within the bread bag. I did my first pollination about a week ago when the first few bananas were visible. Tonight I took the male out and shut off all my fans. I collected a few dozen bananas into a pill bottle and shook vigorously to collect pollen. I carefully removed all the plant material with tweezers and grabbed my mother plant.

From here I spent about 20 minutes carefully applying as much pollen as I could with a small paintbrush. Upon close inspection you can see some already colored pistils, so hopefully the first attempt (a few primitive whole plant pokes) was successful. From here I plant to do one or two more careful collection and pollen painting sessions. Probably this weekend and sometime next week. I want to make sure she is chock full of seeds.

That Nevs/CC is headbanger, the outdoor samples I had from last yr were outstanding. They came out of Florida. It was the strongest sample I'd had from all of my own and others plants crossed to the Nevs. I started transplanting yesterday and made the veg room bigger, some of these need transplanting asap.I managed to do about 6 or 8, hopefully today I can do more.I'm running out of coco here shortly, I have a pallet waiting for me somewhere but my dipshit friend with the truck took a qp and went packing! In the other room I have some Topanga/Chem D's starting to take off from what looked like plants I'd have tossed.Patience, sometimes you need to re-learn it!Most of the day I spent taking down and hanging the whole EP and scrubbing the room, taking down the lamps and hooks etc, it's been running almost 4yrs straight.Took all day to clean up.:) Tell ya' what, you sure do lose friends easily in this activity, job, hobby whatever name you give it it's tough keeping friends!! I have a feeling I'll be retiring with my gate closed and the proverbial shotgun in my lap...I guess I was born a hermit and will stay one, I think you have to be inclined to entertain yourself if you're a grower for life, books make better friends than people.Sorry to say it!!:tumbleweed:You give weed away, somebody hates ya', you sell it to them, somebody hates ya', keep it for yourself and tell everybody you quit...you're fine(just kidding!).It's a shame or it's just me.:)

Slip now that we've popped all ten seeds of the Nevs x CC and the Nevs x Chem Sis we know that CC1 is really something special. I'm not at all surprised to hear of more excellent experiences with the cross. So far the Chem's Sister has been tough to love. The 5 beans I grew a while back resulted in 1 regrow and dismissal. The first plant of 3 my friend popped was an awful grassy pheno and the other 2 are about to go into bloom any day now.

On the contrary all the Coastal Collision crosses have been pretty solid but quite different. 3 made large leafy buds and smelled like orange juice. 4 was kind of squat and bushy and made beautiful tight almost leafless nugs that smelled like a more spicy version of #1. It wasn't a very vigorous grower so I let it go, but I regret it. My friend gave me a sample of #6 from the last half of the pack and after a short cure I'm pleasantly surprised. The flavor isn't anything too distinct or exciting but it's very frosty and has good relaxing high.

What's the Topanga consist of Slip? Is she as tasty as that broad from Boy Meets World? I feel you on the friend thing. I really don't know what it is but everyone seems to end up a hermit. Even as a hobby it's time consuming and requires you to put a certain "wall" around yourself. Making new friends is out of the question, they'll inevitably want to come over and that's not an option. Even with people that share the same hobby and old friends there is all kinds of petty rivalry and disputes over who got what and what they gave in return for it.

You said it best about the closed gates. We all want to be one of those guys way up north somewhere with a locked gate. Shit at this point I'd settle for a heated garage with a floor drain, water source, and some amperage. It could be right between a gay bar and a crack house as long as the rent was right lol. I'll sleep on the concrete floor with that shotgun you mentioned.

It's a Pure Kush, aka Topanga that herm pollinated my chem D clone. An error that made a bunch of nice seeds.Lots of the offspring are mutated but some are going pretty well...I had a friend grow a real nice Sister Nevs down south but I never grew any to full flower myself....Ha! It's just me!:) If I wasn't happy with hanging alone I'd have been busted a long time ago that's for sure.:tumbleweed:
The Topangas looked good this morning the Sours are moving on as well, lots of the plants I thought might be toast are coming around.:)

That sounds like a tasty cross, funny how our mistakes can end up rewarding us. We used a herm flower from our Nev x CC cut to pollinate a local variety (Pinconning Paralyzer) and produce a handful of seeds. Only one has been popped but my buddy loves it. Larger buds than either parent by a good margin. The node spacing was somewhere in between the two. The smell from the Paralyzer dominated but hints of the mother were still detectable. We just finished flowering Moonshine Haze and every pheno of that smells very similar to Paralyzer. A tangy sweet smell that reminds me of northern lights I smoked as a kid with lots of skunk. He actually dropped the Paralyzer clone from his stable to keep running the hybrid lol.

OGShush - I once had a strain called Pinecone. I wonder if it was related to your P. Paralyzer. This is the first place where I have heard something like it mentioned.

It was one of a handful of strains whose loss breaks my heart. Not everyone liked it because it easily induced paranoia. If I still had it, I would try to let it get more ripe before harvesting.

Slip Kid - Your seedlings look nice. It makes me feel like spring. Sorry about the bad vibes from your friends.

Cheers,

ThaiBliss - I can't stand losing a good cut. It sucks you didn't get to see if a few more weeks took care of that paranoia, more often than not it does. As for the relation I'm not sure, but it's possible. The cut at this point would be over 20 years old so I'm sure it's kin are well represented in the current gene pool.

Its allegedly skunk #2 x afghan if I recall the lore properly. The original story circa 1988 is that a guy got caught growing in a semi trailer behind his house. His kid had taken pot to school, got too stoned with his friends at lunch, gets caught and the cops head right to his house. The MSP said it was the best pot they'd ever seized at that point and there was even a blurb in High Times referencing the bust.

The first time I encountered the cut was 2008 when a friend grew a clone from an old man that was a relative of the guy who got busted. He grew it outdoors and it was top shelf. Big bush of small rock hard buds with a tangy sweet smell that's somewhere between Diesel and Northern Lights with a strong smell of skunk. I found it again in 2011 and had a chance to grow it myself indoors and was reminded of my 2008 smoke experience. Same structure my friend described and those tight little silver nugs that look so strange when you manicure them.

The smoke is a pretty heady Indica type high. I don't recall any paranoia any time I grew it and finishing wasn't an issue, she was done in 8 or 9 weeks. In the accidental cross the buds aren't nearly as frosty and in my opinion the enjoyable high of each is kind of traded for a more generic effect that doesn't entirely excite me. From a pure growth perspective it's amazing the vigor and stretch the Nev x CC imparted. I'd really like to start chucking some quality male pollen on her. Fingers crossed for one in these next few packs of beans I've got coming.

Do you guys mean Paonia Purple Paralyzer from Colorado. The pine tree smelling stuff from the western slope? That was some nice weed that came around every fall in the late 80's into the 90's then I never saw it again.Colorado used to bust your ass good for growing before it went legal.I know I had to leave the state and go back to NM where it was safer.:) Anybody remember those troopers waiting at the bottom of the pass to nail the tokers coming down in the afternoon? They must still do it...Man those guys put the fear in me!!!:tumbleweed:

I had it 15 to 20 years ago, and it was very piney tasting. It had leaves that curved inward that reminded me of a horseshoe. I grew it inside and it grew really slowly until flowering when it shop up. It had very clean and tight buds at the top, not stacked up, but lots of resin.

It was very powerful! I loved it, but lost it. (the story of my life).

:violin:

Actually, half of the ones "I lost" were on purpose, but later regretted it. I did not know how more and more rare the ones I like are. I think the tastes of people have changed, and I am less interested in ones that are "producers".

Nah slip, this didn't smell like pine trees at all. It's a MI clone only from the late 80s. http://www.hightimes.com/read/pot-grower-now-patient-soon-he-can-get-registry Here's an update article about him from High Times. It's such a huge part of local lore that around the same time the high times article there were articles in the local papers. The people who I got the cut or bud from didn't know as much of the story as I did, but they both said it came from someone who "knew Larry."

Pretty interesting plant. It exhibits a trait a lot of haze hybrids do where the top leaves accumulate excess nitrogen and do that downward "claw" thing. The structure is what we would call a "wankle-bush" so bushy structure with a decent amount of space between nodes. Less than a haze or diesel, but more than anything afghan. Leaves are thin and small with small serrations. Finishes rather quickly, outdoors my friend had his down before October 1st. Indoors people who care take it 8 weeks. I see people advertising "purple paralyzer" on craigslist and on dispense menus but that definitely some pollen chucked B.S.

ThaiBliss - Your leaf description sounds like the "claw" I was describing. Care to elaborate a little or is there any chance you can find a similar picture online? I'll get a picture of "the claw" on my SSSDH and my Nev's tonight or tomorrow and post a shot or two. I think it's a haze trait but I'd be interested to hear from someone more experienced than myself.

Slip - Man I love stories of heady locals only cuts. Tell me the saga of the Colorado Paonia Purple Paralyzer if you would please.

Thai, I agree totally about yield. I just do this as a hobby and to keep my med costs low and stay off prescription drugs. Quality of effect and flavor are most important in my book. I think the reason I enjoyed growing these Nev's crosses so much is that even the poop phenos and low yielders are still waaaay more explosive and gigantic than everything else. In the grand scheme of things the N1 cut I adore was probably the lowest yielder out of the pack, aside from N4 maybe. However when it comes to hazes low yielder is a pretty relative term. I've been doing this about 3 or 4 years now and I never have a problem getting 3-4 ounces per plant out of a 5 gallon bucket of promix and a vertical 600w light in about 12 or 13 weeks from cutting to finish or less if you don't veg long. I got a buddy that has pulled over a pound from a cut under a 1000 watt Magnum XXXL with probably six weeks of veg time.

Honestly I'd like to see this cut get cash cropped. The quality would suffer but that lovely smell and wonderful happy alert high would still be there for everyone to enjoy. I think if you actually sat down and figured out annual yields versus expenses this would prove to be a very efficient plant to grow. Especially in a state like MI where you can only have 12 plants. You gotta veg those little Indica bushes for a month or more to get 3-4 ounces out of a five gallon bucket, and as the kids say, "aint nobody got time fo that."

Lol @ og shush

Slip I kno 2 well the short end of the friend stick ..it's disappointing when u do so much but people can never return the feeling(favor) ..I've also been tru hell bc of "friends" a few yrs ago I was snitched on and arrested ..long story short woke up handcuffs and 10k in lawyer fees and bail ..I dealt with the situation like a man and used it as a life lesson on "friends" ..most people who kno me would label me a as hermit now compared to b4 but I'm fine with that ..one of the greatest joys of growing is the ablilty to do it yourself ! To not hav to tell anyone or ask for anything is great and comforting ..

On another note the bathroom started leaking ..bad wood on the roof so it soaked tru the insulation and Sheetrock ..had to do a emergency take down :( ..(sigh) ..half is trimmed drying the other half in a black bag...this grow had so many X factors it was a bad run ..first I had a problem with my timer which I didn't catch till the plant showed signs of reveg ..random heat waves ..burns ..etc,besides needing 14 more days on 2 of the hazes and about a week or 10 days on the others I salvaged what I could ..

Bc of the reflower issue and the heat I had some stretching btwn nodes ..I did. Have one of those Nevs x sour that didnt yield shit ..I mean it literally like balls on a stick ..I had another pheno that was just like one a grew last year ..one of my chem sis crosses was big ..besides losing all my clones I'm not that mad ..I'd rather be safe than sorry anyday of the week ..

I should be moving in a few months so it helped me clean up earlier ..but I have a nice secure closet and another 60-90 days b4 I'll be ready to leave ..I'm thinking about running a 400 till then..or a dimmed 400 to 250..I feel lost without any plants :(

Ps..I wasn't using a scrubber ..the other day I was in my backyard and the wind blew ..smh ..I used to think people exaggerate the condition of the smell ..it smells inside a lil but when u the smell mixes with fresh air outside its really serious ! ..90 degree weather + a 90 degree tent filed with 12 5-6 foot weed plants ..that smell will get u busted ..I also got a bunch of new neighbors 4-5 college kids sharing a house ..for all I kno the smell could have been them :/ ..

I have seen pictures of leaves that people describe as clawing, and I don't think we are talking about the same thing.

If I see a picture with a leaf like that, I'll keep you in mind and show it to you. If I find a picture of the Pinecone strain, I'll probably get banned for harassing the member who posts it! I've already searched for it. That one and another called Seeing God that are strains that I would give up a finger to get back.

Some early "Early Pearl" and some aged Nevilles.View ImageView Image

Wow Slip Kid! Those look great, and similar. Nice work. I was going to mention before, but never got around to it, that your cures look good. Are you doing anything out of the ordinary?

I have some Early Girl x Haze seeds (Willy Jack) that are about 15 years old. After seeing your pics, I think I really need to pop those soon.

I think Early Girl and E.Pearl are related. I have never heard that Neville's Haze is related to anything in Early Pearl. Is it? I think Early Girl is Afghani x Mexican Red Hair, I think, and Early Pearl is Early Girl backcrossed to the Mexican Red Hair. Perhaps Mexican Red Hair is the Mexican in Haze. I always thought the Mexican in Haze was Acapulco Gold or Oaxacan Lowland.

Slip Kid, you seem to be a specialist in this, can you elaborate?

Thanks in advance,

ThaiBliss

P.S. I apologize if these are newbie questions that annoy.
