Nepal Jam

Hi Syd :)

Thanks for sharing pics of the new Nepal jam hybrids we have recently produced, hope they have survived to the nasty broad/russet mite attack.

The Orient Express x Nepal Jam is well known for such impressive lush growth.

You are right, the Zamaldelica x Nepal Jam hybrid grows mainly with a Nepal Jam structure, but branchier thanks to Zamaldelica influence. We have not been very successful testing this new hybrid this season, seems it didn't like the extreme heat with strong temp variations and dry conditions of our field, guess it prefers more stable and uniform warm temps and wetter conditions.
Hope you can bring her to a good end so we can learn more about it.

On the other hand, the Zamal x Nepal Jam hybrid we have tested in the light deps this season has worked great, great blend of traits and lots of potential in this hybrid .... it grows almost like a tropical sativa as you are experiencing, with very thin leaves and stems, delicate look and extreme branching typical of Zamal dominant hybrids, but thanks to Nepal Jam influence it flowered much faster, yet keeps almost a fully 100% tropical sativa vibe .... it's also very pest and mold resistant, excited to test her now that is harvested .... will post more pics and detailed info once we give her a try in the smoking tests, but i have the feeling she will be released next year as limited edition ;)

Good luck and best wishes friend! :tiphat:

Hi Dubi!

Yes,the 3 nep jam hybrids survived the first wave of the plague (I hope it was the last one, too).Especially the oe cross had to be even more pruned to get rid some very infested tops .They seem to perk up now and the pistils getting white and healthy.I hope that I can get them to harvest safely.

Thanks for sharing your observations my friend!I 've got to agree with them.

The purple zam cross is indeed very pest resistant,it had the least mites from all of them (12 plants) and no damage.Had some hard time from the spray though.

I have sampled all of them (grown this spring with ascending photoperiod )and I can say they were real nice, despite not being grown to the full potential,so can't wait to see what I get now(the pz x nj is a clone).Oe x nj is a solid indica hybrid/relaxing high.Pz x nj is very uplifting, bouquet is very intense (something like the malawi x panama with mango carrot in the mix  ) and the high is somewhat trippy. The zmd x nj was very similar to the one that Bluegrass Crab above has. This one seemed the most immature. Not big buds (the one I got now has a better flo/leaf ratio),an onion(?) smell ,hybrid effect.

I'll throw an update soon,cheers!:)

Had a hard time from the pesticide spray but looks that will be fine. The bud structure is like mom's,little budlets here and there.

Zmd x nj
Smells incredibly...Less skunky, more perfume than zmd x kc.Some jasmine in there I think.

Hi Syd,

Very happy to see your plants doing much better than i would expect after an attack of this kind :)

I have had to deal with many kind of plagues and growing problems in my years of cannabis growing .... but hell! the russet mites are the worst of all.

When having a problem, to know for sure what is the problem it's the first step to the solution, something not so obvious when you deal with this plague for the first time.
It reproduces very fast (in cycles of 5 days) so it's very important to cut their reproduction cycle doing 2 separated abamectine sprays in less than 5 days.

And of course clean in depth with bleach all the growing room, tools, fans, lamps, etc .... before the last spray .... considering your are not dealing with an abamectine resistant russet mite population, otherwise you will need to use other stronger acaricides like Komanche plus or others, none of them are recommendable to use once the females go further than preflowering stage.

The only good thing after deal with russet mites and win, is: lesson learnt, in case it happens again you will be able to recognize the problem before the problem gets too big.

Nep Jam update

Nep Jam update

Also posted photos in Anything Outdoors thread.

Starting to plump up. Fed for the last time. Next few days are supposed to be nice and sunny. Hoping they will be done very soon.
After I checked the photos, I realize I need to do a bit of cleaning.

I try and get in and out. As I was there I started hearing sirens and my paranoia made me think I tripped something. I do look around for cameras etc. They are pretty much hidden in plain sight.

Happy flowering.

Hi Bluegrass Crab,

It's without any doubt the purple nepalese pheno, try to take out the brownish and more yellowish leaves and you will improve the light penetration and will avoid fungus in case the conditions get rainy or wetter. I would also recommend you to continue feeding her for at least 2-3 weeks more. Best wishes!

Yikes, I don't even know what thread I'm on, but Syd, lookin good! Happy to see an update and some good pictorial news. That's a good lookin plant with a lot of potential and great genes;)
And that outdoor NJ of Bluegrass' looks fat and familiar. Those puppie get stout outdoors with no help at all. I always watch out for single leaves that die. Always check the stem for rot where they connect. Pretty wet around there. Good luck!

Final report

Final report

Upon recommendations from experienced individuals, I took several tops from my NJ about 10 days ago- before 5 days of rain and humidity...and I am glad I did. I went back today and it was covered up with mold. I did get a few good buds. Snails and several small leaves that curled over and died on bud and formed mold. We have had the worst rain and humidity and are expecting more. Crazy stuff. I am unable to check on it often.

The buds I did salvage were very large. Earthy smell. On a good weather year or the ability to work closely...absolutely beautiful.

Lovely Syd :)

I'm so happy you managed to get rid of of the russet mites problem and still have time to come out with such healthy and good looking plants in flowering, you must be proud of your efforts friend!

The Zamaldelica x Nepal Jam is really flowering abundantly, she is a beauty, no wonder she is one of your favorite plant in the garden now.
Excited to see this new hybrid flowering until the end under such good and green hands! ;)

Hi Bluegrass Crab,

Sorry to hear the bad weather didn't help you at the end of flowering .... but glad you managed to harvest some nice buds before the worst rains :)

@Kalbhairav It's pretty big ,huh?Had a lot of fungus gnats so I just put the whole thing up.

High Dubi bro! Thanks for the kind words mate, but I will only believe it when the grow is done...And to imagine I almost didn't plant this one cause under increasing photoperiod it seemed to me as a low yielder...Heh.Great cross man, can't wait to try her!

Hi Syd,

Your Zamaldelica x Nepal Jam looks great! Thanks for sharing yours.
We tested the hybrid this outdoor season and it didn't performed very well in the extremely hot and dry conditions at the farm, so i'm following your progresses with lots of interest!
