Nepal Jam

A single Nepalese Jam grown outdoors from fem seed ... just over 4' high.
Germinated early December, started flowering mid-January (7 weeks veg). Now at 7 weeks into flower ... probably three weeks left.
I am assuming it's the Jamaican pheno, as the leaves are narrow and elongated, and dark coloured with a bluish hue (although the fan leaves are now starting to yellow up as the plant reaches maturity).
Buds fattening up very nicely ... sweet and spicy pineapple aroma ... very intoxicating ... just like a tropical island !!

This NepJam girl got taken down about a week ago, and is now being cured.
She had been subjected to over 12" of rain in the preceding week, with more rain forecast.
She was showing a bit of bud rot, and I didn't want to risk her further with the ongoing wet weather.
She was close to being finished at just over 8 weeks (mainly white trichomes, with a few clear and amber trichs, and still a couple of white pistils) ... and would have enjoyed another week, but only if it had been sunny and warm.

Nice plant, I think those buds will be fine after a cure by the looks of it, would not call them immature. Maybe Dubi could chime in on wether the Nepal Jam is best taken early or late?

hey dubi are you all working on anything new with a Jamaican or Vietnamese background? on this first page of this thread you mentioned that you liked Cambodian and Angolan sativas, are you working on anything with genetics from those areas?

Hi ThaiBliss,

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with your own Bangi Haze x Nepal Jam hybrid, i'm glad to know you achieved some of your breeding goals crossing both strains and that the cross added good mold resistance to your outdoor line up.

Nepal Jam and Bangi Haze are quite inbred nowadays so i'm getting much better results with them when they are properly outcrossed with other nice inbred strains to produce new F1 hybrids, that's the case of Nepal Jam x Kali China or the more recent Orient Express x Nepal Jam or Panama x Bangi Haze.

We are planning a new Nepal Jam reproduction (Nepal Jam fem is currently out of stock and Nepal Jam regular will be out of stock soon too) and i think i will try a Bangi Haze x Nepal Jam F1 as well, will send you seeds when they are done so you can compare them with your own version of the hybrid.

Have a great season friend :)

Thanks, Dubi! conditions are much better now indoor, so plants are putting on a show without all the heat stress. I don't think I did those two justice first time around, so i have their clones outdoors, where it's rainy and coldish. I don't much care for the smoke of the little fem, but her clone looks and smells WAY better having flowered outdoors. I think the smoke will be a totally different beast. The pink pistoled from reg seed is my favorite smoke of the last run. I just forgot she's slow to flower. Here they are a few minutes ago.

Beautiful pants Thaibliss and Kygiacomo

Beautiful terrace plants deepwaterdude,

It's nice to be able to compare both phenos: the tall, long flowering
pink pistiled pheno with more jamaican influence, and the more compact, hashplant looking nepalese pheno. Hope they produced good quality flowers to make warmer last winter months ;)

my nep jam turned out great. it prolly could have went another 7 days but i had ripper activity in the area and had to take it right then. this is a solid strain imo. great yeild and great smoke. its not the strongest i have ever smoked but it is not weak either. perfect for daytime smoke. i had zero mold on it but mother nature has been perfect this last 30 days so cant really say how much mold resistance this one has. i'll be growing it again next year for sure.View Image View Image View Image

Thanks Kygiacomo!!! for sharing with us the outcome of your Nepal Jam, i'm glad you enjoyed her effects and that she handled well your outdoor conditions without mold. As you said, it's not the strongest strain but she delivers very nice warm effects, easy to find a break during the day to enjoy a bit of Nepal Jam :)

Hi Kalbhairav,

Thank you very much for the detailed grow and smoke report on your Nepal Jam, i really appreciate it. :)

I'm so glad you have enjoyed the newer feminized version of this classic strain, your compact, resinous phenos are in the direction of where i'm bringing the strain nowadays. I'm happy that all the phenos you grew finished well at 50 lat showing good mold and cold resistance and that the effect and overall performance of the strain matched well with our official description of the strain.

And as per your suggestion, i will pollinate our best green ErdPurt female with Nepal Jam pollen in the upcoming Nepal Jam reproduction ;)

Hi canna.ballistic,

Thanks for sharing your beautiful outdoor Nepal Jam too.

She is indeed a more sativa pheno, a good yielding one! :)
Sorry to hear she didn't deal well in late flowering with the wet weather, anyway hopefully she had enough time to deliver some interesting flowers. How was the smoke? Did you like it ?

Hi Zitz,

The right harvest time it's just a personal preference, but overall i prefer to harvest well matured the compact hashplant pheno, while the more sativa pheno in its right time, not too early, not too late.

Hi trees123,

We keep working extensively with Orient Express (vietnamese/chinese) and Nepal Jam (nepalese/jamaican) and with their hybrids. I have other jamaican and vietnamese landrace strains in the vault waiting for their turn, unfortunately we are just too busy to work with all the lines we would like.

Thanks for your interest! :)

I second the notion for Jamaican leaning hybrids! A long time ago I grew sensi seeds Jamaican pearl and it was very nice, very memorable.

Dubi, reading smoke reports on Orient Express, Nepal Jam, and Ethiopian. Like the sounds of Ethiopian for day time, spiritual oriented up positive thoughts. Can you give us your thoughts on the differences of the high between the 3? thanks

I have two NepJam crosses going now. I really like them both. Dubi sign me up if you ever do a VietJam. I get lost in the daydream thinking about that one. Very nice thread to read. Thank you all. Peace

Hi Borderline,

Orient Express vietnamese sativa pheno provides a very clear, uplifting, positive, well focused, anti anxious, social sativa effect. The OE chinese indica pheno has a much more narcotic effect, more introspective, with more body stone, much more relaxing than the sativa pheno.

Nepal Jam effect shares some qualities with OE, providing a calm, pleasant yet lucid sativa effect with also a bit of body stone. It builds tolerance faster than other strains, it's perfect smoke for late afternoon.

Pure ethiopian is super clean, uplifting and completely cerebral, there's no physical heaviness or hangover after the effect, it has the vibe of the pure tropical landrace sativa she is.Usually pure landraces provide a different vibe compared with hybrids.
