Nepalese Jam buds are filling in nicely. I'm detecting some aroma that I did not detect last summer from the exact same cutting, lemony fruity. This is addition to what I already noticed, a syrupy sweet and spicy aroma.

Here is a nice bud:

Found a nice trait on an NJ seed popped about a year ago (post: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=6800106#post6800106)

It turned out that the plant is mite-resistant, at least it resists one particular type (I'not a mite expert though). Had really nasty outbreak but the scourge ignored this particular plant and its clones. Just wanted to share this info..

I'm curious if anyone can confirm this observation?

I can confirm this in the cutting I have, same as the picture I posted above. That is a valuable trait to have!

Nice :)

Anyway, I still have the original mother (cloned) and it makes lot of preflowers. Almost like it started blooming but i keep her at 16/8 all the time that seem to work for another strains to stay in veg. What do you guys think - is it a light-related problem or something else? The plant is like 1.5 feet ~ 50 cm tall in rather small container with coco. Any input appreciated :tiphat:

Personally I would repot to a much bigger sized container and go 18/6.. Sometimes a plant will preflower or even flower totally if the roots are too constricted. Mother plants are better kept with lots of root space in a smart pot or pot that automatically prunes roots. But that's just my opinion

Good luck

Thanks for your opinion. Bigger pot seems not to be the way for me since I need to keep the plant small. But I will prune some roots bonsai-mom style and keep the original pot. Will also prune few stems for good shape. Hope it does the trick :)

Hi ThaiBliss,

I'm glad to know you still keep the Nepal Jam and Bangi Haze genetics from past year for this outdoor season. Nice flower/leaf ratio and flower distribution, the aromas sounds yummy :yummy:

Hi koles[cz],

I also glad you found the Nepal Jam genetics worth to keep for future grows. It's quite a mite and mold resistant strain.

As Kalbhairav pointed out, your Nepal Jam mother is preflowering most probably because the small space for the roots and the photoperiod you are using.

I would recommend you to transplant her to a bigger pot, apply some growing (N) fertilizers when she is already established in the new pot, and increase a bit the photoperiod up to 18/6. Then take clones from the best tops to make a new mother without preflowers.

Hope it helps. Best wishes!

Unlike my last year's NepJams that were quite homeomorphous in terms of structure, this lanky lady looks so alien...

NJ outdoor

NJ outdoor

So this is another example of the pheno I was referring to earlier. It is a clear winner of this outdoor season - 50° Europe (although the other strains weren't so suitable for given conditions). Branchy structure, turning purple, fat buds. It's getting two weeks max, depending on weather.

Performed much better compared to indoor run // pictures don't do justice

Hope I can get the mother fixed, for I know what is going out for next year. Thanks, ACE!

Steadily spreading mould and most trichomes being cloudy and amber were the factors that made me take this NJ down...heavy smells reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla...

Thanks MadMac, koles[cz], orfeas and ThaiBliss for sharing your outdoor Nepal Jams :)

I'm glad the strain is still working good for outdoor growers, it's not a big plant or big yielder, but very rarely its harvest is lost due bad outdoor conditions.

Nepal Jam males. I have two and can only keep one.

They both are aromatic, lush plants. One has purpling,
even at moderate temps.

I could take cuttings and run to pollen drop, but risky
to pollinate plants in flower.

Keeping both would be ideal, but space is limited.
