Okay made it through, bad luck on the mold showing up, I got hit with it too. Pushed up my harvest on all my plants except the zamaldelicas, those were killed later by the cold. I'm in the middle of setting up a loft grow room in my shop for my meds. Gotta get some more variety going, find some more clear sativas that combats CFS but doesn't leave me too high to work the farm.

Happy New Year!

Dude those look spectacular. How much height do you have in the loft? If you got through this journal you know I've only got about 7' of ceiling and have to keep my girls around 4 1/2' at the most. I've found that going with the LST'ing will work well with the limited space.

Bud rot - next year I'm going to use light deprivation to force them into flowering a little earlier than letting them go with the natural sun hours. It's something I've seen those NoCal guys do very successfully. That way I'll be having them finish around the middle to the end of September. That should get them done before the bud rot sets in. It's those foggy night/morning that does the damage here in the PNW.

Thanks, most of last summers grow was luck and hearty plants as my soil was less than it should have been with too much clay. I've since dug it out to be replaced with new fresh organics rather than trying to amend what was there. We are 60 miles from the coast so the marine layer hits us pretty good stacking up on the hills around us.

I might see about doing some light deprivation myself, I think I can use a sunsetter awning with some blackout curtains for the sides of my greenhouse.

My indoor loft will likely have 9'-10' at the peak and will slope down to about 5' at the eves, loft area is going to be 16' x 12'. I'll grow my sativa by the peak w/400w hps and the rudi/sat crosses can go under fluorescents in the shorter area.

It is really cool to get to grow your own meds! :woohoo:

Keep us updated with your grows and smoke reports!

This has been a busy new year's day for me. I spent the morning working in the cellar and trimming plants. I followed that up with harvesting my Goblin Queen #1. The last thing I've done is turn my compost pile. We're having a cold spell here in the PNW with the weather coming down out of the Frasier River valley. So my compost is not as hot as I would like. It is still breaking down and I'm seeing worms in it. During the turning I added more alfalfa pellets and some kelp meal. It's starting to look more like dirt.

With the trimming I've been doing I'm just about ready to make some more IWE hash. This is my can full of resin covered material from the finger trimming that I do.

I've been using the spoon to collect pollen from MTV. It's working out quite nicely. I just put the spoon under the pollen sacs and bump them. I miss a lot of pollen but I've already collected enough to pollinate 1000s of seeds.

Your loft area sounds great. I would seriously think about getting 1000W lights though. Have you seen what SG1 does with mylar and bare bulbs?

Getting your soil right is just a matter of time. You can jump start it by what you did digging out and back filling with your own soil mix. Outdoors in my vegetable garden I'm going no-till and covering with mulch (straw). The straw breaks down and adds to the humus content. I'm liking it a lot. Not as much weeding needs to be done.

I don't have much clay in my soil. I'm on a hillside so there is mostly glacial soil with lots of various sized rocks. Good for a gravel pit.

I got 2 new cultivars for my cellar. They were a little ragged but I put them into my soil and they are turning around nicely.

You can see how nice that new growth is.

This morning I got out my spoon and went into the storage closet and gathered some MTV pollen. I do this twice a day. As I said I miss a lot of pollen this way but I've already got plenty.

I've got 4 3Elders, 4 Old Goblins and 3 Goblin Scepter seedlings at the moment.

gallery_726300_6748_286400.jpg

That's 11 out of 18 so far. I'll let the unpopped seeds go for another week and then toss them. I'll probably start another run of seeds then. I'll go with Purple Star but not sure about the other 2 types of seeds.

I see that one of the Old Goblin has carried over the mutation. It'll get tossed if it doesn't straighten out.

Yeah I've been scoping out the Khalisi thread and the Minions, I would love to fit some mylar into the budget but just getting a loft built and growing some plants will help get a crop in before the spring madness sets in.

I used straw on my greenhouse grow last summer but wherever I watered the straw would mold and mildew up so I removed it for fear of contaminating the plants.

My wife and I started framing up the loft today:

So the loft is up in the rafters? Or is it the space down below?

You did use straw and not hay? I don't have a greenhouse so my straw is outdoors. I didn't have any mold or mildew but the straw did eventually rot away or breakdown. I like the no-till aspect of it and it surely kept down the amount of weeds I had to deal with.

I'm looking forward to see how this project turns out for you. I like building things myself. It's a pleasant diversion from programming computers.

I decided that one of the seedlings was ready to be put into a 4" pot. Other growers may let them go longer but I want to achieve two goals with the transplant. The first is to get the seedling into my soil mix and the other is to have good enough root development that I can dust them with BioAg VAM.

Here's a mediocre picture of the roots through the clear cup.

gallery_726300_6748_129634.jpg

You can see that the roots are coming out the bottom hole and they are forming root hairs. This is what the seedling looks like from the top.

gallery_726300_6748_140164.jpg

Once I get it out of the cup you can see the roots a little better.

gallery_726300_6748_32919.jpg

Those are enough roots to dust with VAM. I plant it in a 4" pot, sprinkle with neem cake and cover with timothy hay. Anyway that's how I do it.

I've been doing some harvesting and tomorrow I'm going to be taking down Mildred. This is the last Mildred that I'll run because the 3 cuttings I took from her got hit by the cellar flood last November. They just didn't recover from that. She is the mother of 3M so I'm got the daughter still.

I see a couple of new pistils forming but she is pretty much done. I've got room to move the next teenagers into the ladies area. This will be Goblin Girl sisters. I've raised the light to the height I like to turn them so they'll be moving in soon.

They're looking nice and healthy.

I for one hope you find that great couchlock strain ,been looking for some time ,

I'm already running some serious couch lock cultivars in Goblin Queen and Goblin Girl. My 3M (one I breed) turns out to be some serious sativa highs along with Blue Orca and The One. In my cellar I have some of the best marijuana that I've ever come across in the 40+ years that I've been around the herb.

I'm just looking for more of the same. I'm thinking that I've got some stellar genetics with Eminem and MTV.

Good Job. I'll have to come back to your thread and look at it some more. I do organics also.

I switched to organics a little over a year ago and I'm so pleased with the results I only wished I had found out about it a long time ago. Organics for the win.

I got two new cultivars in my cellar and they are really starting to take off since I moved them into my soil. These are reputed to be close to the original cultivars. So I'm looking forward to getting them to maturity.

I've had this teenager a little longer and she'll soon be transplanted into a 5 gallon pot. When I got her and during the transplant the dirt fell away from all the roots. She seems fully recovered from that incident.

I got a couple more bud shots here. The One is about 49 days since the flip.
