There is no 911 for a dog friend. There is no animal ambulance. Lay off. If he doesn't have a way to get the dog to the vet until the AM and the dog isn't dying in his arms then we all need to take a step back and chill out.

Thundur, we've been buddies for a while. I've stood up for you in the past and, believe it or not, I'm doing so here. You're understandably distraught and thus over sensitive. Considering the crap you took for growing DrBud style, you had to know the response this would draw. You know what the right thing to do is. Get it done and let the rest go.
There are after hour vet clinics. There are taxi's. There are friends with cars. I don't see your point.
And if the dog does die in his arms it'll be too late and he'll wish he did do whatever it took to get to the vet.
I can't understand why people think it's crazy that everyone is insisting he go to the vet asap. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Well thank you guys I knew there were some cool people coming sooner or later, the thing that makes me know it's not too serious is he still wags his tail every now and then and he's moved himself around my moms bed quite a bit in the last hour. I honestly think he pulled a muscle being too excited cuz I've pressed and poked around his whole body squeezed his legs and neck and no whining at all just if I rolled him over from his shoulder like it's sprained so he's chilling with Mom's wrapped up in her blanket like normal till morning. On a good note he's yelped less the last two times so that's a good sign with all the movement on the bed he's done.

REALLY???? !!! That's something I would actually like to do if I can find one tomorrow (should he still be hurting in the morning) that is willing to let me volunteer at the clinic and help with the animals for fixing my dog that would be so cool

It doesn't sound like a pulled muscle to me when he's yelping from trying to swallow or lift his head up. JMO though. Hope he gets better. Make sure to let us know what the diagnosis was when you get back from the vet in the morning.
If I tried to take a dog in a taxi they would probably pull a gun on me in my city. And yes there are friends with cars, I have neighbors that would loan my their car but not everyone is in that situation nor does the situation now seem as dire as we thought it was. As to him dying in your arms, it happens and if it is that serious, the vet might not have time to save him either. I advised him to go to the vet as well. My point is that if the dog's condition isn't life threatening then we shouldn't be beating him up over something he is already feeling terrible over.

well good Karma to your doggy and i hope all is ok by morning... hopefully it will pass and it was just a one night thing... it's always good to be safe though and get him checked out anyways

Lets see, absolutely no money for a cab, can't find a friend with a car free at the time so how exactly do you insist I do this? Force my poor buddy to go through more pain having me try to carry or make him walk to a vet at night? In the cold? With his short hair?
I just don't like to see someone I love in any kind of pain and I admit I over react a lot and anxiety is why I have my script anyway so it's natural but yea thanks to everybody for the support and help offered...
I wasn't responding to you or about your situation in my post.
But I feel sorry for you if you don't have one friend with a car that will either give you a ride or let you borrow it for a few hours, honestly I do.
It's really hard to believe you don't have ANY money AND know absolutely no one with a vehicle. But whatever dude. I hope you can afford to buy him food at least.

hey bro , I just had a simular situation not long ago. one of my dogs showed up one saturday night with a fucked up leg, I have 2 ausie shepards and a border collie and they run and play rough all the time . I have seen the collie run into one of the ausie sheps and injure his rear leg so bad he did not use it for over a day..... I though this could have been the problem ..and it was sat night ,so we waited till the next day to watch him . I know a ex -vet(doc) and got him to look at the dog. he said probably rear leg dislocation but you need to take him in and get xrayed to be sure. first thing monday took the dog in to the vet office ...x-ray, knocked the dog out, put the leg back in socket, taped up the leg so he couldnt use it , $300 and 2 months on 3 legs before he started using his leg again.
If I would have taken the dog in sooner than monday morning I think he would have recovered alot sooner...but it would have cost triple
the dog was stable and I was pretty sure it was just a dislocation and nothing broken so thats why I waited till monday morning, (1mile) instead of going to the triple priced emergency clinic 30 miles away

could he /she have chewed =swallowed a stick/bone? that has got stuck

This sounds exactly like [GDV] gastric dilation and volvus. do a search your pup has the exact symptoms and I had it in one of my dogs before.
It strikes out of nowhere and usually after excersise and then eating or gulping food or water too fast the crying is because his stomach has twisted and it starts getting bloated and cuts off his esophagus shutting off all oxygen to the vital organs.
and slowly starts cutting off his air.
Very painful and is a true emergency. Not trying to freak you out but it sounds like the EXACT symptoms.
I rushed mine to the vet and he didn't even want to do the surgery because it's not very successful but I insisted. That dog was my best friend and she did recover and lived two more happy years.

I seriously doubt this is bloat if the dog ate a sandwich after he experienced pain. When it happened to my dog he wouldn't even eat a slice of cheese.
I had to put my Golden down on halloween, because of bloat. It was the 4th time it happened in about 18 months. Everytime it happened it was after hours and emergency clinics demand payment up front. I don't blame them if they didn't get paid there would be no 24 hour emergency vets. And yes we did everything the vet told us to do, no playing for an hour before or after eating, raised food bowl, multiple feedings everyday. But once it happens they are more prone to it and he was 11 years old and everytime it happened it really aged him. So after the third time and I just didn't want to put him through the treatment again. I didn't want to do surgery either because he was on the older side.

Ok, I went back and read it again.
The dog has his head down and can't get off the bed and yelped when he tried to roll him over. It's GDV, bloat whatever you want to call it. he has it.

When it is late at night and my dog is not evidently dying, and is experiencing similar symptoms to urs, i too would wait till morning to see if things do not get better and then i would take him to a vet if if things did not get better or got worse. Though medical science has gone far, let us be carefull before we subject our animals to loads of meds and x-rays at unbelievable prices.
When someone in our family gets sick we first wait to see if it is serious before subjecting ourselves to the fallacies of the medical system.
Sounds to me like ur pitt, like most pitts...gulped the heck outta the treat and it got lodged, or the treat was faulty in some way and if puppers doesnt get worse, fecal matter should show a possible onject that could have been swallowed to cause the pain.
Bloat is actually of a slower onset usually, and btw does not kill in an hour though can cause serious problems if not caught in time. Since you have checked the dog for other signs of injury and the discomfort seems to be subsiding, it would probably be best to stay calm... realizing that only you truly know how bad your dog is feeling, and also understanding that you like most others would find a way to the vet if it was life-threatening...which ussually an owner can sense (unless stoned out of gourd). Sounds to me like an x-ray or vets visit wouldnt hurt, but also let us not forget there are other things you can do first mostly check online forums for pets (not pot)... and call a coupla vets in the morning... I am pretty sure if the situation got bad or worse you would do something... right? You'd find a way (cashless loser or not)... maybe post on your home forum like ic, maybe someone will help... among all the hurt, there is always a trickle of hope... Some one who might be nearby or might know a good vet nearby, or have a friend whos a vet in your area, or a taxi driver friend. You see one way to save a pitt is not to look at your boot, but look into your heart and mind... and recall that behind every pittbull there is a human, too. We also are dependent on the social systems which surround us...

good luck... i'd guess there was maybe something in the treat, or it got lodged cause it may have been a faulty production (social systems ehm ehm), or sometimes pitts will gulf em wrong...
hopefully someone in your area or at least your country will be thoughtful enough to help you get to a vet when needed
if anything call the local humane society or shelter, they will usually be able to tell you where and how to best help for the animal in question, at the most reasonable rate
