L-

Could you please do a mini-tutorial on how your lights are mounted, wired, etc.? Oops, just read about the vanity light....doh!

Do you raise and lower your light, or is it fixed?

I noticed that you use organic soils. Do you use organic ferts, chems, or nothing but the soil mix itself?

H&L Good to see ya still stopping in. Stay safe.

strain_searcher Im gonna bloom one of each this next run. Ill post an update here.

phrank Glad ya like the thread. I thought i had something here on the vanity.
The lights are fixed it was allways easier to raise and lower the plants. Ive been using pbp soil ferts for sometime now and they work great.

HILLBILLY 420 i have budded in those cups once. I use 1-2 gallon at the least. I can fit 5-2 gallon or 9-1 gallon depends of the strain im using. Bubblegum gets a little bushy where crazytrain grows like a pole (single cola).

Stay safe LL

Lifeless-

I had just bought a bunch of 55 watt CFLs from 1000 Bulbs before I read your post. Think they'd work in your system..?

Any new pics LifeLess? Also one question, does the flower time with your setup take any longer since you are using CFL's or is it on par with HPS?

psyched!

psyched!

I have decided to build a lifeless lab for a friend, with the 4 55 watt/3600 lumen CFLs I got from 1000 Bulbs. The only thing that I am going to do a little different is to buy a small carbon filter. Anybody here have any input as to the best carbon filter and fan combo for a lifeless lab..? Hey Lifeless, I can't thank you enough, as your method is exactly what I've been searching for. Hey man, do me a favor, and checkout the single pic that comprises my gallery, as I have also produced some beautiful flowers via Rubbermade bins...

PS - Check out the following link, which details a CFL used for air purification/odor control. My apologies if this is old hat to y'all.

http://www.1000bulbs.com/Air-Purifiers/

Some info from the above link:

"Fresh2Ti is more than just a light bulb. It's a fresh bulb; a revolutionary new product that breaks down odors while providing energy-efficient light. Simply turn on your light and fresh2Ti begins eliminating odors in just 10 minutes! Making it ideal for restrooms, closets, workout rooms and damp-smelling areas.

And fresh2Ti will continue to break down odors for up to three years. Plus, since it's a compact fluorescent SpringLamp®, its power to light a room will last for 10,000 hours – saving you hundreds in deodorizing systems and up to 75% in energy costs.

How it works
In short, the titanium dioxide coating on fresh2Ti creates a photocatalytic reaction when exposed to the fluorescent light produced by the bulb. This reaction releases electrons, or negatively charged particles. At the same time, a positively charged hole is formed in its place. This combination of negative and positive creates a very strong oxidizer called the hydroxide radical. Odors that come into contact with the positively charged holes are broken down by these oxidizers into odorless compounds."

purp: soft white is 2700k, which is the red side of the spectrum, which is what you want for flowering. daylight, or 6500k, are for vegging and are more blue

Lifeless-

You said:

The black rubbermaids are pretty light proof only thing is where the 2 come together. Im thinking maybe some weather stripping might do the trick.

I have not been able to locate any black 30 gallon Rubbermade bins. At the beginning of this thread, you show a blue Rubbermad bin, with half the interior painted white. I have been able to find the blue bins, are they an acceptable substitute in your experience? I am guessing yes since you used them to illustrate your methods. On the other hand, if the black bins are vastly superior, it might be woth the effort to order them..? Have you experimented with the weather stripping yet?

What brand vanity lighting fixture are you using, and where do you buy them?

Finally, thanks again for all the info. You and Dr. Budgreengenes have really opened my eyes to the potential of CFLs.

purpbythepound keep us updated how things turn out.

Good lookin out mini.

phrank it all depends on what your situation is. If you need them to be totally hidden then id go black. If you dont need total stealthyness then go blue. My first 3 boxes are blue and they leek some light but there in a closet so some light dosent hurt. The insides of both boxes need to be painted. The light fixtue is just the cheapest one i could find. Homedepot has them for a few bucks 10-20 bucks. The 4 bulb fixture fits perfect into the 30 gallon rubbermaid. Ive tried the weatherstripping and if worked right it would work great. GL phrank keep us posted. Peace LL
