I've been wanting to mention this for some time now, but never got around to it. Till now that is :bashhead:
Anyway....just a sugestion.....have you guys ever considerd duct tape instead of the paint?
Not that grey duct tape, but the real deal! Very reflective, and very tacky. The stuff is light proof, and i'm pretty sure it's fire resistant.
Considering your using cfl's for lighting I doubt you would have to worry about creating an intence light burn(which is some of the reasons why you shouldn't use alumin. foil).
Don't get me wrong....the paint is great. But it's not completly light proof, as I've seen many folk try it, and always endup with some hideuos(sp?) looking boxes from the outside. I guess you can go the route of painting afew coats if thats the preference.
But just thought I'd throw it out there for you guys who don't know about it.
For those of you that might look for it, you'll have to look in the ac/heating department of your local store.
I use it for my cfl's, and my mums love it!

I been looking around for a while on which grow box to either buy or make myself. I think ill go with your setup.

atm I bought 2 18gal tubs with 6 26watt cfls.
I'll go return them 2mrw and look for the 30gal ones.
also will i need any 26watt cfls for veg? or best to use only the 42watt?
This will be my first grow. So ill be buying the items as I go since I'm still unsure of everything I need.

You'll be seeing me alot for some more information. and maybe even with some budd pix sometime ;)

thanks for sharing your setup...

breeder the black rubbermaids are light proof. And work pretty well.

tkayone the 26 watters will do fine for veg. 42s for bloom .

quick question,
do you have the pc fan running at all times? or only when the lights are on?
also would it matter if i use the 42 for veg and flower? or the 26 is better for veg? i seen setup with the 3 spots for lights then they put v connecters in each so it became 6 lights total.
will 4 lights be enough? because for the 6 lights they using 20gal tubs
and ill be buying 30gal ones like you have, so was just wondering if the 4 42watt will be enough?

tkayone there are times i run the fans all the time. If i feel the need towards the end of bloom i run them 24/7. Keeps some air flow and keeps mold away. I use 42 watters for bloom and veg just not the same ones. You wanna keep your bloom bulbs fresh so there as strong as posible. I found that any more than 4-42 watters in the 30 gallon is to much. Heat goes way up and is hard to control. My next bloom will have 2- 24 inch t5s ran threw the lower part of the plants. I think i can really boost up my weight. Ive tried using 8-42 watters in my 30 and i yeild way better with 4. Peace LL

Heres a bud shot that got the chop today

Thnx felix waiting on some update pics from ya.

Thnx. They do get a bit of a bluish tint to them at the end.

Welcome OG Royal Grower. The box works great but the only prob ive ran into is the lower buds get little light. This next bloom im adding 2-24 inch T5 bulbs. They will be put on stakes so i can just push them into the pots for some under the canopy lighting. Ill post some pics when there up and running. Peace LL

The strain thats in the box with 9 is called crazytrain. I think its gonna work well because its a single cola plant with little side branching. Ill get a few pics tomorrow. The Bubblegum i have is very Indica. Smells like sweet BO towards the end and Pink bubblegum after alittle cure.

jmn2dmb always nice to have something with some speed to it.

To completely lightproof them you could easily just spray a nice coat of black primer, then spray the white on top of the primer. Same principle that Black/White poly and Panda Film uses. It would also help the paint adhere better .

Looks great LifeLess-- sorry if you already answered this, but what are you yielding out of this setup? Grams/cycle or grams/month? Whatever is easiest to explain :rasta:

Whats up PurplePotion. Your right about the primer. The black rubbermaids are pretty light proof only thing is where the 2 come together. Im thinking maybe some weather stripping might do the trick. I finally found some real nice yeilding plants so im hoping to do better with the yeild weight. On an average im getting 115 dry grams per box using 4-42 watt cfls. This run im adding 1-24 inch t5 under the canopy to see if maybe it might pump up the lower little stuff. Ill post my results here in another 6-8 weeks. Normally i use FFOF but this time im using Happy Frog with some worm castings and perlite added. The plants look real nice. In box #1 i have 4 Bubblegum in 2 gallon pots and box #2 has 9 Crazytrain in 1 gallon pots. 9 crazytrain because they grow like a pole. Id like to try a run of ct in 32 oz cups and do 25 or so. Peace LL
