great thread scissors, sorry to hear about your mishap, still it looks like you got some quality produce, I really liked the way you trained them - very pretty. I thought your plants were gonna die instantly when you turned those lights on, but you definitely proved it works!
I was wondering if you should aircool the light, but take the air from outside the box. That way the fan only needs to run when the lights on, and you only need a dust filter on the inlet. You could use the other fan to ventilate the grow space via carbon filter?

thanks man! i love your avatar :p

that is a brilliant idea about the ventillation, one i have seen before! my whole premise was built around the idea of not using glass shades on the lights, in order to preserve whatever UV was being thrown down, but I can see now that the advantages of being able to put the plants closer to the light totally eliminates the UV advantage, if it was an advantage to begin with! In any event, i could always get a seperate UV-A bulb if i was really serious. next grow i might totally re-do the vent on my box, not sure. what i really want to do is set up a multiple-bucket hydro system with central controller but im very nervous about leaks, just CANT have any leaks inside the bedroom here..... :chin: a way to eliminate that is to use electric pumps to pump in/out the nutes, rather than using a regular gravity-fed system... id like to use the full height of the cab too, on both sides, and move my veg box to another stealth cab somewhere else in the room, possibly a double PC case or speaker box or something... ;)

by the way, the DWC finally started showing life again, so i pinched off the tops of all the remaining bud sites in hopes of starting FIM-style growth that i can throw into flower SOON. i might do a large scrog off this one bucket if my veg rates look good. I have to say I wish i had some pure indica i could smoke. all this "daytime" weed is kinda annoying when you want to couch out.... i know, problems we like to have... ;)

Put the DWC back into flower, basically starting ALL over again. So today is day one.

In other news, myself and my caretakee are finally "legal" now, mostly for bureacratic reasons and so that we could find some nighttime indica. all this lifesaver and all my other plants (except for maybe a couple white rhinos) are all "up" daytime strains. Anyways, that 4.5grams of indica was the most expensive weed ive ever bought, if i include the doctor's fees, and the OCBC registration... sucks but oh well.... actually got it at purple heart in oakland, which was a cool place. tried SR-71 but they didnt have any indica... ended up with some purple kush and old grandaddy. nothing special about either one, but maybe im on the wrong pharmaceuticals.........

thanks MGJ... DWC is looking killer with a whole new canopy of growth, just took forever to get it to come back around. many of the other (soil) plants just never recovered at all, shows you the power of hydro!! ;)

here's a pic of the monster from tonight....

here's a pic of the monster from tonight....

mmm pics... :p

if you look closely, you can see that a couple of tips were getting burned, so i lowered the whole thing in the "well" further...

hey scissors ! nice to see your grow ! lookin good now looks like your dialed right in . . r u only using the 465w now instead of 1000w in there ?. i read about the bleaching of plants earlier in the thread . may just be a bit too intense in there .nice grow though . do the lifesavers taste like the candy .?? i've been curious about those BOG strains and missed the boat so to speak when they were available . many blessings , hidingtree

unfortunately i seem to have missed out on the grape candy lifesaver phenos, what i have is the jack's cleaner pheno (goes purple in the cold). it tastes like pine sol and is a good daytime high. but generally unimpressed/disappointed that i didnt get more of the candy pheno. i do have one small plant that tastes like grape candy but i dont think its a BOG. My advice: dont believe the hype!

the monster is sucking down nutes/water at about a gallon per two days or so. i just topped it off with a gallon and a half of dilute maxicrop solution. i notice that the tips are getting burned a bit so i will top it off with straight water until i change nutes next ... thursday i think, or is it tuesday that i changed em last time... :joint:

edit: yeah, only 465w due to high power bills (not too stealth in a shared arrangement!) Next stop: ALL-LED grows... i got two 400w HPSes i aint gonna need no more... ;)

WOW...you sure you wanna walk that path? That's a lot of dinero to throw down for an experiment...maybe switch down to a 250W or even a 150W HPS with some Fluoro supplement in the blues....you would save a lot of high potential electrons and its a proven technology (unlike the LEDS, IMHO, YMMV, EIEIO....).

But, like a slo-mo car wreck, I will be rubber-neckin'!

G'luck!

If i spend $200 on LEDS, thats $200 i dont spend on electricity for lights, ventillation etc. They pay for themselves within a single grow i believe. My 1000w setup had us pulling $300 electric bills in a single month (cali). thats with the rest of the house, but it made a big huge difference when i scaled back to 600, then 465watts, and put my exhaust fan on a timer also. not only that, but i can grow in summer all of a sudden!!!!!!!!! ;)

LEDs would be badass! good call on the downsize. have no doubts you will still pull some great weight! keep us updated for sure!

Go Full Spectrum LED

Go Full Spectrum LED

These are the original models from LEDGrowlights.com, as opposed to their new improved higher output revamped models. You could get the same results as my kit with half the stuff in new models. Also they made a Full-Spectrum model which I think will improve their flowering, which starts off a little slowly, for me. Otherwise they're good but I'm still "getting my sea- legs" with them after three grows of dif strains. Currently going great is a LowRyder2. 5 weeks old. Excuse me in the foto its only 4 weeks old. (old pic)

i was actually thinking of going DIY, just buying bulk LEDs at whatever spectrum, then make mixed panels of half blue/half red. the plant needs both. what you say about slow to flower, do you know what exact wavelength your LEDs are? i wonder what the hangup there is? is the full spectrum just red and blues together? i was going to go DIY since i know how to solder, i can get bang for buck with a BIG array hanging like a flexible net over the plants' tops. i was going to try for some WIDE dispersion LEDS so that i can basically drape the plants with a dense coat of LEDs (not really drape, the "nets" would be suspended from above but would touch parts of the plants im sure... at least that is the idea.... :chin:

edit: i changed the nutes the other night (weds night i think) due to some weird spots on the leaves. I love hydro because as soon as i changed nutes a new round of growth started immediately. :D
