When you have to replace your smarties, in a few years, check out root pouches. They are so much cheaper than smart pots and are more or less the same thing. I recently bought 50 3 gal and 50 1 gal and spent less than 60 bucks @ some gardening site on line...I'll be lurking your thread again this year, it's always a good show:D

i just got 180 5gal smart pots for transplanting the seedlings... those things are expensive! oh well, at least they are good for a couple years.

starting transplants today. i'm going to use last year's cootz mix i think, although the soil test from my old vermifire looks a little more balanced to my untrained eye. maybe i should transplant into that instead?

will be fun getting old soil up the hill and into 5gal pots in the greenhouse. I'm glad i bought a truck cuz now i can just fill the bed with dirt and drive up , instead of using a goddamn wheelbarrow like i was doing for a couple years. talk about a workout!

Fill your bed with the buckets and fill them instead. Save yourself a step.

The coot gets my vote...vermi is too low on k. Coot is low also but Ca will be taken up which is good In veg.

You got a boron foliar yet...you need it. And get a k foliar also...you may need it before too long

You going from 5 gallon to final pot? When do you plan that move?

Come on shcrews, just let me overthink and over analyze everything. It's my natural way lol. Pulling off a decent grow is all I'm trying to do-- that's why I'm copying you, but I can't copy you completely because for example my landlord won't let me even start plants indoors. Nothing indoor. So I have to deviate... and to deviate successfully I have to figure out why you're doing things in a certain way so I can avoid beginner pitfalls. :) I appreciate your help man. I apologize if I'm too nagging but I'm kind of neurotic about doing shit right.

I was heating the coop. The 10 day forecast says 43f to 51f for lows but I would put them on heater mats outside, and at night they'd have humidity domes which will trap heat. I'm going to run a test tonight to see if that keeps pots sufficiently warm.

PS: 5 gal root pots are $2.70 @ ZenHydro. $3.09 for 7 gals. And I don't know if you've seen them but they have fabric pots with velcro now for ease of transplanting.

hey Shcrews have you run Dream Beaver before? I popped a pack and they all look good just wondering if they are worth giving a spot in the big garden

yah i grew it last year, nice big beautiful plants. i had several females and they were all very bushy and smell kind of like green crack but better. they were the stinkiest plants in the garden.

ok i went with the coots. thanks.

i was planning to order some stuff from AEA to foliar with. i should do that soon. what do you recommend?

the plants go from 5gals to the final pots when they show sex and the weather is decent

Get some Photomag for sure, it has B. For K....either pht-k from aea or Albion Metalosate K if it is available to you...JH Biotech (or whatever they call it) probably has a good K product also

You will love the Photomag. It is the one AEA product I would least like to give up

edit...think of B as the limo driver for Ca. Without it Ca never gets where it belongs. Burnt tips are actually a lack of Ca, which will most likely start with a lack of B

plants from seed usually start to flower outdoors around august, regardless of when the seeds were sprouted. this is one reason why i grow from seed, no worries about preflowering

seeds are sprouted directly in 4x4inch pots or red cups, vegged indoors under t5's for about 2 weeks. then they are transplanted into 5-10gal pots until they are sexed and planted in their final home

to make sure i am not derping out hard here...

my seeds under 18/ 6 will not have an issue when i put them out under 14 hours of light? weather took a shit here and i have to veg indoor under light as well; not used to it... or is 18/ 6 only good UNTIL they sex.... i was under the impression anything above 12 hours for seed is good and will not flower...

I go 16/8 for my outdoor stuff.

Hey Shcrews, I just got some land I'm being allowed to grow on up very close to you, but around 5,800 feet. Do you have any tips for growing in this area? I'm just starting to plan this grow now, seem's like I'll have to pay for a fence etc. with the new regulations. Humidity seems higher than most places, especially during flower.

Thanks for any tips regarding the local area.

It is nice to own your own truck, especially living in the area and doing the work you do for a living.

The root pouches seem to be a little thicker and stiffer than the smart pots. The root pouches, with a kangaroo tag sewn into the seam, are certainly more affordable.

The root pouches have a folded over double seam on one side. To transplant the plants, I used a razor blade to cut the threads of the seam. I am going to have my wife sew in some Velcro on the seam so next year when I need to transplant, I can just pull the Velcro apart.

just curious,do outdoor growers do any type of flush before harvest?Or is it not necessary?
flushing is done with plants that are fed chemical salt fertilizers

to transplant out of a 5gal(or 7gal) smartpots, just turn a 5gal bucket upside down and put the plant on it, then roll down the sides of the pot over the bucket.

most regular seed starts wont preflower so you should be fine

you are up pretty high, i'm only at 3000ft. humidity here is actually pretty low , definitely not a problem. tips for growing in this area are: lots of water and soil.
