Clones of NL5 Hz x both A and C versions, G13 Hz A , HP Hz C and Nevil`s Hz selected from big green house selection runs ,have circulated Southern Holland for more than 20 years .
I love this kind of history!
I really should have titled this "most influential plant" and this one is a top candidate.
Do you happen to know about the NL5 momma.
According to
http://en.**********.eu/strain-info/Northern_Lights_Nr5/The_Seed_Bank/ it was only available as a cutting from Nevil (and his grape vine).
But to this day I see NL5 crosses. If my memory serves me correctly, some were clone only crosses. So either a male nl5 exists, a seed line is claiming to be NL5 that is not (or is IDK) or the clone only female plants were "dads"....which is possible but I doubt this is whats happening.
When I was starting this I could not help but notice that the list was dominated by a small handful of strains. After removing Chem D it got really small. Then a couple strains kept appearing as distant relatives (NL, Haze and NL5).
I figured this discussion might bring out some evidence that one or a few were "at least partially responsible" for elevating cannabis to the heights it has achieved.
I am convinced that the question is basically solved. It should not surprise anyone who has followed the history of cannabis genetics. Answer = NL, Haze and NL5/Haze. I give the G-13/HP runner up. If we someday confirm that Chem D is a G-13/HP then I say its a tie.
SPECULATION THAT MIGHT MAKE YOU GO CRAZY: Nevil's comments about haze backcrosses yielding Chem odors really makes me think something crazy might have happened. Maybe Chem D is an Indica dom pheno that arose from a G-13/HP x Haze cross. Both strains were readily available in the years just prior to its discovery. I don't really think this happened or could be proven but it would just be funny if our newest hot shit plant was a cross of our 2 oldest hot shit plants.
