He's the NSA man, it's a trap!

Free could be better than charging for legal reasons. Follow advice wrong, your fault live (?!) and learn. Mess up with a product sold by a company could be bad for the company/entrepreneur. He could also just be nice. Or both. Or NSA!

The only two modified parts are the lid and injection tee. There are prints of those on this thread and larger copies at http://skunkpharmresearch.com/mk-iii-terpenator/

Although the prints show a storage tank for the Mk III, we ended up using a 50# refrigerant recovery tank, because it was faster.

Hee, hee, hee, the storage tank lid made a dandy cold trap lid for cold boiling solvent under vacuum, but that is a different story.

One update on both sites, which I haven't added yet, is refrigerant hose manufacture recommendations, after hearing stories of folks getting bad hoses off E-Bay. I contacted both Kobra hoses, and Goodyear, to verify what their "thermoplastic" inner veneer liner was in their refrigerant charging hoses and found it to be Nylon as suspected.

Nylon is rated Excellent for butane service and what we recommend.

The Kobra hoses also have a replaceable Neoprene gasket, which is also rated as excellent with butane, and is what we typically use; picking them up from RSD refrigeration supply.

Grey, cant thank you ENOUGH for all your advice and help on the matter. Any link to see the MKIII at work?

I am curious if the MkIII can be used inside? Im still confused on how it works?

I would kill to see this system in use. But all bullshit aside thank you for all the info. Cheers bro

No movies of it in action yet, but there are still pictures on the site of the Mk I, III, and III's operating.

The Mk III is a full enclosed system, but we still run it outdoors in case something goes wrong, goes wrong, goes wrong.

We operate the fully automatic Mk II indoors, in a specially constructed ventilation cabinet, that exchanges the air in the cabinet at the rate of 2500 cfm to keep any leaks that do occur, below combustible limits.

It is also pneumatically operated, and the pumps are all located outside the exhaust cabinet and building to eliminate sources of ignition. Suffice to say that the operator is not in the cabinet at the time that it is operating on automatic.

The Terpenators operate by passing the butane through the material in the extraction column, and then to a collection tank, where it is pumped off as a vapor, leaving behind the oil it extracted in the lower tank.

You are welcome to visit and watch one work, or just look around you for more than a hundred in service right now.

Vacuum finishing in the Mk IIIA

Vacuum finishing in the Mk IIIA

For those of ya'll who would like to vacuum finish your Mk IIIA extract in the Mk IIIA itself, check out this lid that I made out of $2/lb remnants from Multi Craft Plastics, and a bulkhead fitting with O-ring, and a 1/4" flare fitting from Paramount Supply.

Since the opening is only 6", 1/2" acrylic is heavy enough and works well and to allow you to watch the progress of the vacuum purge.

For heat, set it in hot water.

YES I DO! Im so tired of emptying tubes the with a bamboo stick, lol. I need an end cap with a welded 1/4" female flare fitting and Id be able to hook my compressor up to it. How did you do it in this picture?

Nice job on the vacuum chamber conversion I have a 1/2 sheet of acrylic laying around I think Ill give it a try.
Thanks GW!

Blessings Abound,

that is a 1 1/2" triclamp to 1/4" npt end cap, followed by a close nipple then a 1/4" ball valve, one more close and then a 1/4" air fitting. hope that helps.

works great. Used the top compression fitting with a valve I had sitting around for the vacuum chamber. Thanks again.
