MH vs HPS in bloom

I'm defiantly a MH man for mostly white strain Indica hybrids.

Can anybody say HPS is better for Sativa/Haze strains? (Tall, thin leaf pieces of lanky shit) :D

since 2003 i have used 1000w sunmaster warm deluxe from veg through flower and couldn't ask for better trich production and yield.

noticed that its genetics .. like everything else.. genetics plays a huge role ive had tested a room with a 1000w mh.. and had same strains under hps.. and some did good under mh. some ddi good under HPS. i stick with hps. but im about to toss in a 400w mh on a mover for the last few weeks of flower.

You couldn't ask for nothing better because you never tried anything better. Maybe this decade? lol...just messin.

Haven't heard too much discussion here on the 10k bulbs for the last two weeks. What's your experience with these peoples?

I will make a side by side (flo only) soon between Led & MH (4k) soon

I did side by sides for over 6 months on several cycles and came up with the best results using 20 percent mh and 80 percent hps. I used 5 bulbs in the shape of the 5 dots on dice. the middle bulb was the mh. I posted my results earlier in the thread.

Seems some of those docs from Gavita that whazzup posted say basically the same thing. I do stacked vertical bare bulb and have to settle w/50-50 MH & HPS though like to replace the 600 watt HPS with the 1,000 on the bottom. That's about 38% MH, if I go with a 400 watt MH that'd be 29% MH but 400 watts MH is not as efficient.

My veg area is different I can swap out just about any ratio with 8-16 Ts bulbs. I go 25% 3000k & 75% 6500K (3:1).

This cycle I'm going with MH until the end of stretch, then switching to HPS because it gives me higher calyx-to-leaf ratios. Then I'll finish up with the MH to get that resin flowing. :)

you want resin popin....leave your mh on for 3-4 days at the end of your flowering cycle .... no mh produces bulk too not just resin

bud size is genetic/strain related....just cause you have resin popin doesn't give us any more thc than the genetics of the plant allows

All mh this is popin crystal

and this is huge nugs...top was almost 2 ozers..both strains done under all mh

remember reflected light is 50% at best ..
I'm respectfully disagree with that. A modern horticultural reflector like our HR96, has an efficiency of 96%, plus it brings all the light where you want it: on your crop. When your ceiling is lit you can be sure of one thing: you are losing light.

Another issue is that many lamps do not come to full power in a naked installation. They just don't get to their optimal operating voltage.

whazzup,

“Another issue is that many lamps do not come to full power in a naked installation. They just don't get to their optimal operating voltage.”

Placing the bulb in a fixture does not change the voltage delivered to it in the slightest. The fixture is just a housing, how could it possibly affect the ballast output? Or perhaps this is not what you’re suggesting...

You are always killing it bro. your set up looks awesome every time i see the pics. It's clean, uniform, dank, the bud structure is perfectly dense and frosty. you have inspired me to give indoor soil a go in some big tents for sure. hats off to you man. :tiphat:

im thinking about switching to MH the last few days of flush.. how long do u think it takes to show a difference? I know people really really believe in this.. so id like to hear what the guys think that use this..

it is better to just cut your hps down to ten hours during flush to mimic the end of flower season. You will get better color change too.

You want the hps spectrum in flower because it mimics the spectrum and intensity of the sun during harvest season, where as MH is closer to the sun in veg season.

the only reason it looks frostier under MH with the last few days is because you change the spectrum your eye sees. It is an optical illusion.
