This is a closeup of a Skunk #1 cola that has been sitting right under a 300 watt Gavita LEP lamp for 43 days, and the amount of trichomes is ridiculous as compared to some of the side colas that aren't getting as much LEP light. I've grown this strain for the past two years and have never had the amount of trichromes at this stage of flowering.

This particular ISS cola has also been bathing in LEP light for 43 days:

There're a bunch of other pictures over in my LEP thread too.

what is lep ? do you mean led ?

Hey, have you guys ever grown Master Thai's "Heavenly"? I was reading some of his posts in some hash talk threads that Raco posted up.Seems like quite a funny dude. The posts were from 2007 and I havn't seen the guy around but I have the cut and somebody kept it for a reason, the cuts I find up here in the NE usually turn out pretty good, as a matter of fact, I've yet to find a bad one, like a bigbud type thing...:)

Does gavita make anything with a larger reflector? (or are they planning to?) Would like to try em out at some point but I want something that throws a footprint like a raptor, XXXL or big kahuna, those things look tiny.

What sort of cost are we looking at (locally) for the gavitas? 1000's...

Wish gavitas were air coolable.... -.- i would be all over them! Your kinda forced to Use an A/C with them and personally i don't have the space on my circuit to run one.. Do they produce as much heat as a regular HPS? Could you get away with just running an exhaust?

no you would need some air movement. air handler ac imo. too much heat for mini split or less.

$550 per setup. less if you grab a couple i've heard. they only run on 220 btw

If you calculate the cost if your buying quality digi's, big reflectors, and good bulbs you will actually be saving money! People who bitch about the cost are the same people running magnetics and replacing their bulbs every 2 years...
Downside is that it only runs 240, some people who are renting don't have the option to alter the electrical and the fact their not air-coolable.

Seriously?

The price really isn't all that bad, and this is coming from someone who would never waste money on a lumatek. But if you have to make up for not aircooling them in spades with a much larger AC that's a dealbreaker. I understand why they don't aircool them (cooling the bulb reduces lumen output and all) but wtf...

Tyga, find a dryer plug and you're good, no need to mess with the electrical.

ive always used 4' parabolics very nice footprint. since im in NE now i guess im going to have to be getting a few aircooled hoods for the heat.

I hear ya brotha... But you need the 240V circuit to go with it :/ lots of apartments don't even have washers haha. People are stuck using the laundry mat -.-

I've been researching the use of Hortilux Blue Spectrum MH's along with HPS's for flowering. Way back I ran one of those Hortilux 1000w combo's that is a single 600W HPS and 400 MH Blue spectrum (all in one bulb).

I wonder what throwing 1 or 2 (400w Hortilux Blue Spectrum's into flowering would do? The combo light definitely created a lot more vigor, expansion in flowering - I'm wondering if this is a better option than HPS's and LED's.

LOL I have one of those old reflectors a buddy gave me years back in my garage right now. "The Mothership".

In the past when I ran 1k mhs next to 1k hps in flower I always noticed the yield was better with the hps, but the nugs were tighter and more resinous with the mh. If you can swing it mixed spectrum is totally the way to go. Toss a couple mh 400's in the flower room, what the worst that can happen?
