maxima32,

Incredible C99 pheno, truly jaw dropping. I love seeing all the different expressions of the Princess genetic pool.

Fairlight is FLT - I saw their beans on the bay a year ago. Looks like they are doing a stand up job.

Theres a sculpture in front of the "waterfall bar" i forget the bar name, its one gigantic bud, made with of all HUGE glass trichromes!!!! Right in front of 10's of thousands of people to see. The other great part is the sculpture is in rocks, surrounded by water. Shes there just getting all that nice DO from the waterfall........Hydro sculpture anyone?? B-safe.

The soil gnats have been raping me in my bigger flower room, these temp fluxuations must have something to do with it.I've done everything to no avail. Some colder temps would slow them down, do you guys use azamax? I've been spraying the soil with Dr Deadbug and using mosquito dunks gound up in the water, on the top of the coco, damn I've never had this many. They used to die from the spinosad??Here's Zens organic D...I made a bit of a trade...

Yeah, I have some gnat larvae kicking around in the coco. Never used azamax. No fliers yet but I spied some larvae kicking around in ECSD container. Nothing else seems affected but I'm assuming they're there, everything is in coco. Keeping things moist so I'm sure that ain't helping me.

I just grabbed some mosquito dunks yesterday, gonna crush em up and top dress. Read in the coco forum some guys water with boiling hot water and then follow up w/regular water. I'm not there yet, seems a little hardcore for gnats. Hopefully the dunks do the trick.

Boiling water? I like the idea, would def kill all the eggs and larvae, but wouldn't this absolutely fry the root zone & possibly herd as well? Water that is a few degrees too cold can really shock a plant, I'd have to imagine boiling water might rape a plant! But it's always a little give and take isn't it? So I'd imagine it's a quick splash of sizzling sauce then followed immediately by cool cool water. Chilly well water :tiphat:

Ya, I'm skeptical if for no other reason than the rootzone itself. Soil microbes are tough and I'm constantly adding more back with compost teas so I don't worry about them. I think the boiling water before using it would be sound, like how some people have to flush certain brands to get salts out. But with a plant in it? Seems crazy. There's a few guys who say they've done it with live plants and had no damage done, one guy even claims his plants seemed to perk up from it.

But it's the internet, I don't believe anything I read and less than half that I see! ;) I'm holding out for the dunks, if they don't work I'll have to take a ride to the store and get some more DE, I need another bag anyway and I know that'll wipe em out.

Azamax should work well for what you are dealing with. You may also want to look into Organicide - it's one of the strongest organic measures, and you can add some to the water systems of hydro in low amounts. I've seen it take out whole rooms of Spider Mites on peoples posts. Definitely read a couple posts on the materials before proceeding with them - they work, but you want to be as safe as possible - you don't want to hurt your plants/genetics.

Always start out with 1/4th or 1/3rd the strength recommended on the bottle.

Ras - how far down to gnats burrow? Or do they for the most part stay in the mulch, or top layer of soil? If that's the case, maybe boiling them out might work.. If you use a very small, calculated amount, evenly dispersed over the surface the boiling water might not even penetrate down far enough to do major damage. And the idea of following immediately with cold water sounds necessary, sounds almost like a 2 person job to do it right.. One right behind the other. You would only need a split second of sizzling water to kill all the bugs & eggs but not the roots, so that cold water would almost have to be poured simultaneously.

Play - welcome brother, great looking meds.. Got u some greasy girls in those pics, big ones too! :tiphat:

If the mosquito dunks don't get the job done fully try some sm90 - fully organic, does the job well and smells great too. Please don't hit your ladies with boiling water ras!!

I've had gnats for over 3 months with mosquito dunks. I was going to try gnatrol. I will try the sm90. I've killed spider mites and aphids, but so far gnats have been the worst.

Jeeyah, did you just steep it in water and use that or did you actually top dress w/the dunks? Just curious.

Good looks on the SM-90, Vado. I'm gonna see how the dunks do and then step up to DE, but will be grabbing some SM-90 to have on hand just for GP.

TB, they don't go deep at all. Larvae live within the top 2", if that. I've started bottom feeding in addition the dunks, get that top layer to dry out real well. They just go deep enough to hatch, munch on some roots and then fly out. The hot water/cold water does ideally seem like a 2 person job, to do it in a timely manner. I'm a solo gardener though. I'm not worried though, if the dunks don't work I got DE and I know that'll work for sure. And even then, there's SM-90. I've seen some gardens get out of control with gnats and I'm trying to avoid that well before it has a chance to happen.

I tried it in the res. That didn't work too well. lol

It works much better if you put at least a 1/4 dunk on each pot and feed. (Hand watered coco).Went to the store today, and the dude said it's hard to get rid of every single one. He sold me some Azamax and sticky traps.

I've been trying to simplify my nutes. House and Garden full line to FloraNova, now MaxiBloom. I'm going to use Maxibloom for a base. $15 for a 1kg sack of powder! Multizen, Drip Clean, and Kool Bloom when needed.

Been trying to get away from hand watered coco for a while but just can't. Coco guarantees success every time, and so versatile.

Back in the lab...

Back in the lab...

Been playing around with some seeds from a S99 cross I made last winter. Popped all the seeds that came out and decided to open pollinate the whole bunch. Here's a few of the kids getting ready for a transplant...

Couple of them look similar to this...

RAS, Get The Gnatrol it will solve your gnat problem for sure with two or three applications . I had them for a few years they would come in with my new bails of soil . We tried the dunks and they didn't work on the gnats we had ,but the Gnatrol wiped them out in two weeks . Just make sure that you are in fact dealing with Fungus Gnats and not root aphids .

Good to know Baph. I top dressed with crushed up dunks and then covered them completely with DE. SM-90 and gnatrol will be on the list next time I visit the store. It's only the coco containers so I'll start treating it in advance now, might try some different brands too.

Few more S99xOGK plants... couple of the most compact types. Others look similar but have noticeably more internode spacing and branch out more. Something in the mix is taming the mom. Interesting thing is none of these share the distinct leaf shape of mom while some of the tall and creeper types do.
