Marijuana Repeal Considered In Colorado

I say let the legislators drop the ball.

Let the locals set their own rules. You'll see what towns are making touri$t buck$ and which aren't. Attitudes will change pretty fast.

HEY! WHERE'S ALL THE CRIME THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN? WHERE ARE THE INCREASED ACCIDENT FATALITY RATES!

Oh yeah, those rates went down and so did crime. Imagine that. (no, retail shops opening up isn't going to change anything, colorado is already saturated with cannabis)

Hydro your right, I was thinking about all the revenues and jobs in has created in CO just even in the last few years astonishing list goes on and on, and it's not just staying in the state a ton of out of state folks are killing e.g. nutrients just one small example..

^right, same active ingredients just different approach.. I can only think that the CA growers are the ones keeping it from becoming legalized..idk may be wrong but it seems as though most are trying to protect there "market" when in reality they would probably double the volume if it were open to tourism and the general public..

I remember reading about that theory here on ic a while back when CA had our little vote on it. My only comment on that would be this. It's a pretty enormous feat, if true. Think about it, enough people in CA grow to make a literal impact on a statewide vote. That's significant. Not idiotic to think the grower's pocketbooks would be hurtin for certain, either, though. Anything big gov't and it's auto-bureaucracy touch turns to shit, fast. Even with prices down, who says they weren't already inflated a little as most disp owners would at one time or another be on the radar, so to speak. Maybe a little market correction is good for the industry. I know I personally witnessed a boom in quality, say, over the last five years or so. A lot to consider with this all... Having said that, if the default goes to the people to decide v. any form of gov't, state, federal, whatever, then I say more power to them! Let the fucker default, the people know what's best for the people, always have and always will. I leave with a question. The gov't tells us this and that, but when in any time you can remember, were they able to accurately tell the future better than you or I?

If Colorado can successfully implement retail marijuana, we'll show the rest of the nation & the world that MJ prohibition is an exercise in authoritarian perception control & social engineering rather than a public health or safety issue.

AMEN to that. God bless Cannabis! And God bless Colorado!

and a perfect example of this is Pueblo!
Pueblo used to be crime infested, gang /cartel territory for a long time , there where some areas you just didnt go!
lol
look at pueblo since medical mj has been introduced- houses being rebuilt all over, way lower crime, almost no more real gang bangin to see anymore-:tumbleweed:

pueblo west went from a dust field to the nicest area and highly developed in no time-
i see kids playing in there yards, skateboarders, and folks sitting on there front porches lighting up and just enjoying there day-

mj saved pueblo county!
its also really helped in cleaning the place up-
actually made this area a nice place to live

Sen. Larry Crowder, R-Alamosa, said the whole purpose of legalizing recreational marijuana was to raise money for education and other programs. “So if there’s no money, we shouldn’t have marijuana,” Crowder said.

It's disturbing that Crowder is using the penal system to extort money so transparently.

"The only reason we stopped throwing people in jail was because they agreed to pay us money."

You exaggerate egregiously. I grew up there, have family & old friends there, and have visited regularly since I moved to Denver in 1972. Moved back there in 1985 for nearly a year. It never was really bad there, not like East St Louis, Detroit, Miami, or parts of greater LA, even in the decade after the steel mill closed.

oh agreed, but it was a high crime area & was very gang affiliated at one time -

today mostly just petty theft-
pueblo started opening dispensaries and there is a change today-
it brought lots of revenue into the county-
pueblo west itself has exploded even you should be able to say that for sure-
i wasn't here in the 70's but all my stoner neighbors have been and say west was flat plains and tumble weeds bro-
and it doesn't take much to see that all of the houses are relatively new-
VS east side pueblo where your average home is about 70-100 years old-
everywhere i look there are places being renovated on the east side especially since recent years- far east is expanding rapidly and things are getting ready for development between the springs and pueblo-

i never said it was like Detroit- lol

Meh I wouldn't read into that so much.

Sometimes some people just neg rep me for being me.

Forrest Gump said it best: "It happens... sometimes..."

For everybody who wants people to find their own truth there is another person angry they weren't handed theirs.

I just don't see why anyone in government would really be sweating anything but Federal pressures.

"Hey Mr. Pocketliner, we have a new lobbyist here to throw money and hookers at you... shall I let them in??"

Taxes make all of this shit spin around.

They know it and call the beast by its name.

Grow horns or hide back in the shadows. Colorado voted it in, how on Earth are they going to not vote for it now... all of how many months of research and who's found what conclusion exactly?

Just show the suckers where the tax teat is and they will fall silent until that teat dries up.

Remember how the Pandora story ended?

Wait until some genius points out the benefits of hemp on our lack of industry.

..any thoughts?

fox news spins whatever whichever direction they are told to spin it (just like every other channel does) just so as few facts are reported as possible. it is the only way to keep the debate going AFTER the people vote on an issue

One of the more interesting aspects of Colorado legalization is all the thrashing about in futility from the anti- forces, and the gaping holes in the regulatory regime.

It's illegal to grow in public view, but what's the penalty for doing so? I haven't been able to find out. Too many plants? OK, what's the penalty for that? Smoking in public? Same story, different verse.

Just saying something is illegal is pointless if there's no legally defined penalty for doing so.

The cross currents involved in regulating retail sales are pretty amazing, as well. Some want to tax it out of existence, but that won't stop the underground market, it'll just deny the state revenue. If retail bud isn't competitively priced with underground bud, nobody will buy it, and the law currently won't be able to even slow down small time growers in the slightest.

The key ingredient in all of this is that law enforcement has no leverage against tokers, given that possession of <1 oz is legal. Rollover on your supplier? How do they get you to do that if they can't bust you?

Faux News is worse than that. They're the broadcast version of a raving right wing teahadist chain email. They're just smoother, more "professional", more subtle. They're the well paid & well practiced propaganda organ of the far right in this country.

WTF is a "marijuana related crime", anyway? They are, of course, deliberately vague about that. Innuendo has greater outrage value than fact, and it's their specialty. Comparing the number of dispensary burglaries from last year to the total number of "marijuana related crimes" this year is deliberately misleading.

I figure that the rash of dispensary burglaries is perpetrated by a single gang or two who've found their angle on the system. It's like back in the early 70's when Capitol Hill suffered from a rash of rapes. The cops busted two guys, *two guys*, & the stats fell thru the floor. When they wanted to get laid, they just raped some gal... and they wanted to get laid often.

Alright, you Cops! Get out there and protect legit dispensary owners! They're taxpayers too!

Never underestimate the effectiveness of authoritarian right wing fearmongering propaganda. They have lots of time & money, besides being utterly relentless. They'd bring back Jim Crow if they could. This says it all-

http://media.cagle.com/56/2010/10/08/84189_600.jpg

They just dropped the ball over A64, being very, very busy trying to make a member of the Lootocracy into the next Prez...

Gotta love the whole song & dance about the evils of Colorado Marijuana going out of state... No Shit, Sherlock. they can't stop it, so they better step up & legalize it themselves if they want a piece of the tax pie...
