A few pics of one of my Malawi x PCK plants. This one from standard seeds. Late afternoon sun makes for more golden light in the photo. Flowering is going along fairly quickly. This plant is in a very sunny location but the hole for soil is maybe 175 litres. I'm not sure. The ground here is only about 30 cm deep then old broken limestone. The natural soil is a sandy clay type that needs a lot of help to be suitable for cannabis. It dries out fast and below it is a layer of clay on the limestone base which the roots don't like. It's very difficult to keep plants very healthy all the way to the finish. Very easy to overwater or under water. Very hard to water and feed exactly correctly. Usually I see the plants develop issues after 3 to 4 months. Different parts of the plant are doing better than other parts. Some are fed by roots in wetter clay soil and some are in better more balanced soil. I think the main effect of this soil is lower yield but the flavor and strength seem unaffected. Maybe the stress makes the aroma and high more intense, hard to say for sure.

Several weeks to go anyway, it seems like they will finish for sure by the end of September.

What a beauty musigny23 :)

She is almost so much advance into flowering like your PCK female!
Now your are in a crucial feeding moment to get the best from her, try to provide her with more NPK feeding in the waterings in correct PH range until she recovers a bit more of green color, and she will rewards you well at the end ;)

Looks like male pre-flowers to me...

I think I'm going to run those 3 last Tikal Std seeds from a 5 seeds pack (with 6 seeds as usual :) ). I got 3 females already, maybe there is a chance I get at least another female for a mother plant.

I have a lone preflower that looks just like the one on the left in your pic, this morning, it shot out what looks like a short single translucent white pistil, so what I initially thought was a male now looks to be a female. Give it a few more days.

I cut it already... I looked closer everywhere on the plant with the unsharp side of a cutter blade, and as far as I know, female calixes do not separate in two.

Rain coming

Rain coming

Forecast is a rain event of uncertain intensity. Not a storm but maybe 10 15 mm on and off over 24 hours or so. This plant seems too close to ready to let it get all wet. More risk of loss than benefit. Flowering has been going a while and it has slowed. I would leave it if the rain wasn't coming. Disappointed to have to pull it but I think it would be foolish not to.
What do you think?

I know this plant looks fairly pale color. I did feed it with biobizz liquids and topdressings but it didn't seem to matter. Kept getting more pale green leaves. Flowers are very purple though. After 5 months in this spot, and many waterings, it's very difficult if not impossible to keep plants green till the end in this soil. Sandy clay based and the afternoon sun bakes it.

Beautiful plant musigny23. If I was in your situation I would harvest a few colas and leave the reast of the plant with crossed fingers.

Well, I actually might harvest most of it and leave a few with the most white pistils. These tops are now so big and dense that I expect rain will get them wet deep inside and mold will develop out of sight till they're ruined.

I normally go for max ripeness/maturity but sometimes I may go a little past what would be best. I'm thinking once dried, cured and trimmed no one is going to make comments about immaturity. And if I leave it and the mold explodes, I'm going to hate myself. It's happened before.

Hi musigny23,

Congrats on your Malawi x PCK harvest! :) I think you did well harvesting her before the rains, she looks very close to optimal harvest time so better harvest her a few days earlier rather than let her wash with the rains in very late flowering. I also prefer to let my plants finish yellowish so they don't store so much chlorophyll and nutrients, makes the final smoke much more smoother and healthier, lesser harsh, especially during the first weeks of drying and curing. Enjoy her! ;)

Nice Azure :)

I didn't know you had a pheno of each. Both are fruity but do they have quite different terpene profiles, right ?

I'll have to pay attention to the different terpene profiles of each plant when I go to garden and then I'll describe the differences!

Wow Musigney23👏,
I think you've done a wonderful job of that plant given the adversity you faced with your soil; it'd be interesting to know what the ph and moisture levels are a few inches down 🤔 I'm also impressed that it could have gotten even bigger in veg and flowered harder, fantastic work Dubi.
I love the way it's faded out and alowed a perfect view of the structure, with the contrast, of yellow on purple. Even those bottm buds look like Tiger Woods could tee off with them!!!!
I've been researching this strain for next year's line up and your photos have just sealed the deal, so l just wanted to say "thanks very much " 👍👍👍
It sure is true that when you jump on the "Ace Train" it picks up speed really quickly 😉
Cheers 40

Those buds looks amazing. I know someone else who is growing a MalawixPCK and he has a similar purple pheno to yours. Absolutely stunning :D
