Haha! Thanks man, I learnt from the best!

I opened the bag of the little cobs I have going, even though it's only been a couple weeks since they went into dark, room temp storage. The one I unwrapped before storage is showing significant darkening over the jar cured buds from the same plant. Also, the fresh-leaf corn husk smell is going away, quite thankfully. So I cracked the unwrapped cob in half to get a feel for the smell and texture. Nothing terribly exciting going on with the smell, and it's still a bit moister and stringier than had considered it would be, but not wet. Way to wet to smoke right now, so it went back into the bag, under vac, and back to it's home.

I was planning on letting it sit under vacuum for a few more weeks before drying it down more, then putting it into long term storage.

Is that the right plan or did I miss something in the program?

Hi my friend any pics it helps to see the cobs even if I cant smell them.

Please tell me how you made them.
Did you sweat the cobs in the bag? To get the best changes you need to sweat them for between 12 to 48hrs in the bag vacuum sealed in temps anywhere from 40c to 70c the higher the temps the quicker the change. I prefer 40c for 24 to 48hr to slowly sweat them but others do the 65c for 6 or 12 hours and get fantastic results.

Once you have sweated them remove them from the bag, they will be very wet. Quick dry with a paper towel and reseal them in a dry bag for at least 3 weeks. They should smell fantastic when you open them after 3 weeks.

They should then be dried to a smokable level before re sealing them in a vacuum to age for as long as you want. 3 months is a very good age and 6 months they are at their peak.
Vacuum sealed they can be kept for years, but once fully dried they dont need vacuuming to store but I like to keep them vacuumed unless I am using them at the time.

Using the above recipe guarantees a good result, there are variations that work as well but if you stick to the recipe the first few times you cant stuff up.

Also what buds were you using it only works if the buds were good to begin with. It doesn't make average buds better only good buds better.
Not stronger it does not increase potency but changes the high a lot for the better, clearer and longer lasting more in your head which is what I like personally.
Please post pics they are worth a thousand words as the saying goes.

first pics of my first cobs

first pics of my first cobs

First off, thanks to Tangwena especially, and also all the others that have walked this path before me. Second, my sincere apologies for the terrible quality pics. I'm something of a luddite, but not a techniphobe, in that I refuse to carry a personal data tracking device with me at all times. So that means I have to fall back to a 10 year old HD camcorder with lots of whiz-bang techno features that are really just trying to compensate for the lack of real, physical capabilities. Accurate near-to-macro focus and color adjustment are not strong suits of this thing.

Tang, from your last post, it sounds like I'm on the right track. I've read and re-read this thread a few times, but this is my first actual attempt at cobbing. Sorry if I'm being a pain in the butt. If this one turns out all right, I'll have more confidence doing it next time and have fewer questions, and maybe better pics.

The lighter is a standard sized bic. This is from Blue Dream genetics I have run a half dozen times or so, and easily the best I've gotten from these genetics, very near to the quality of the person I got the cuts from. These were wrapped in fresh corn leaf and vac sealed with the buds shown in the upper left, left inside overnight to ensure a good seal(first time using this sealer) then placed in my car for the better part of a week during our first decent heat advisory. (115*F in the shade a few days, 140+ inside the car for 6-8 hours a day) I checked on them a few times during that week to ensure a good seal and no pooling of moisture. Then they were paper-towel dried and left out overnight to air dry. That's when I unwrapped the largest cob, now shown as the two broken bits at the bottom of the frame. Next to them is a cola bud from the same plants that was dried a few days longer than the cobbed material, then jar cured to 62%RH. They were re-sealed and put into dark about two weeks ago. Earlier today, I broke the large cob in half to get a feeling for the scent and texture inside.

I dont see the pics maybe because you haven't got your 50 posts up yet.
Do you have a pic album on IC maybe I could see them there.
Either way it sounds like your ok what you have done is good so they should turn out fine.
Dont worry about asking questions my soul purpose in life is to get high and turn others onto this traditional cure method.
Every time a new person gets it right I feel like I just got a bit of the good karma going around in the universe looking for a place to live.
Get yourself a yogurt maker online they are about $60 and make sweating easy to manage and make awesome yogurt to boot.

Thats great man now I can see them.
From the color I would say its fermented very well. But you are closer than I am so you should be able to tell if it smells sweet or not when you opened the bag.
From the dark color it was sweated for a long time. This usually brings out a very lysergic type high but of course thats strain dependent.
What is the blue dream high like normally?
If it is cured and aged properly you should get a very clear head high.
Although freshly cured cobs tend to be quite stony until they have aged at least a month.
But just from the color change I would say its worked well so you just need to age it for at least 1 preferably 3 months and you should have a winner.
Well done and thanks for posting the pics. Welcome to cobbing my friend it takes a little practice but once you hit the nail on the head its hard to stop.

Blue Dream is a Sativa leaning hybrid. My standard daytime smoke. I gather that it's nothing like the ACE stuff many of you are using, but I've got Malawi and Zamaldelica fem beans waiting for a spot in the garden.

With cobs like those, how could your presence be an intrusion? That, and this is your thread!... man those look super tasty!

My buddy sent me following short review of the COB I did without using any husk, banana bark, or parchment paper.

"The head high is smooth, sweet, and strong...earthy, rich, umami taste."

I did this back in April and I sent it to him after letting it age for the recommended three months.
