i've got an extremely hazy pheno of sshxnla that has been hanging a few days. about to cob up pretty much all of it when it is ready (probably sunday). smells of rotten bananas now, can't wait for what it will smell like in a few months. i'll be sure to document the process.
you know, once you, or whoever did, introduced the crockpot/yogurt maker method it really took out the guess work. 40c is possible in a crockpot with the lid off and a thin towel over it. the hardest part about this is waiting 1-3 months after the sweat. especially once you know how wonderful it is.

I am looking forward to seeing that come to fruition, it sounds crazy as.
Yes I was lucky enough to fall in with some extremely cool people, it has made everything easier, you know many hands make light work. Not to mention the great minds all thinking together to solve a problem.
Its still not the only way to get there, there are many ways to play around with times/ humidity ect.
But it has made everyone involved learn that much faster.
If you post your pics of the steps it will help everyone here as well, we are all learning, the more you do it the more things you want to adjust and play around with.
Crock pots work great as well though you dont need so much time with those.
Good things come to those that wait and are patient, just like growing.

Thats a shame but no problem.
If you have a crock pot the dry buds will still sweat if you leave them for 12 to 24hrs on low.
Give it a go you will be amazed even if its only one or two cobs.

I had to harvest this plant mega early due to an inspection and didn't even dry it before putting it in the yogurt maker at all. It sweat bullets and now after 24 hours completely changed colour from having 50/50 milky/clear trichs to 75% being golden with the rest split evenly as before. The taste was considerably nicer than other flowers I've eaten but it still had that spicy fermented kind of twinge to it that they all have though it seemed stickier and harder to swallow than usual so I had to wash it down with water. The high, well I'm 6 hours into it and the first 3 were spent just staring at my computer trying to function like a person. Typing, using the mouse, etc. almost seemed foreign and after vaping a bunch of indica dom bubblegum I'm still no closer to feeling tired at 5am. Why oh why did I thinking nibbling on immature ssh cob would be a good idea? I gotta take my kid to school in a few hours :yoinks:

Nice job seeded, sounds like you hit the nail on the head my friend, if I was you I would partially dry it and vacuum seal it up to age for at least a month, before fully drying it for long term storage under vacuum.
As for the rest just go with the flow you will find it gets easier to function towards the end of the trip.If you haven't slept yet you dont need it, sleep longer the next night.
5 stars for the cure though.

Thanks mate and I'll be sure to age them like you suggested. I can't wait to try them in a month or two

The high started wearing off shortly after posting that last reply and then came crashing down almost like my bed turned into a gravity well. All I wanted was sleep but I powered through my morning chores and got the kid fed, dressed and to school on time anyway. It sucked but I definitely learned my lesson about eating immature sativas of a night so it's not a total loss

Thats the Indica in the hybrid, get yourself a good sativa and there is no crash and sleep after it wears off.
But after aging the Indica effects will lessen and not be so dominant.
I try and stay away from Indica hybrids although some dont come on so heavy its just a test and see what you like.
The Swazi I have has one pheno thats pure energy quite trippy as well, I haven't tried the other two phenos yet.
I find it hard to go past this Swazi especially if I have work to do, its the only cob I have where I feel really high and still am able to concentrate on anything I am doing at the time. Also no crash it just wears off slowly.
Once you have a few cobs stored its just dial up a day trip tickets. Today I am testing my newest GT cob its only a month old but already very strong it will get even stronger in a couple of months and then it will become very special. Luckily I have 3 cobs enough for about 3 years if I use it every day, which is unlikely to happen.
Starting to get the ecstacy type Alice in Wonderland feelings that I love so much with this gear.

It's a shame that indicas mostly taint sativas like that but thankfully your cobbing method makes crazy sativas far more practical to grow as it makes a little go such a long way. It actually inspired me to ditch most of my strains like the super silver haze, tangie, c99, etc. the other day so I could focus on some of Ace's work and hopefully find something like your swazi where I can get high, function and not burn out.

Every time I hear about golden tiger it fills me with regret at not buying it the last few chances I had but your comments about ecstacy and alice in wonderland feels from cobbing it are the last straw. There's only so much temptation a man can take before he snaps so to the top of my to get list it goes

Lovely job thats what you call cured weed not that green stuff everyone associates with grass these days, once its aged it will be dynamite. I would vac seal it for a month or two once its part dried and you will have real ganja the way its supposed to be mild smoking powerful hitting.
Love your work my friend you have the touch no doubt. Respect brother.

Thanks mate and I'm definitely going to store most of it like that though I plan on experimenting a little too as it's going to be great fun seeing how all the different boveda packs, oxygen absorbers, etc. treat the buds over time. I'll put up chew reports as I go

i cobbed my ssh x nla last night. i thought it may be too dry, but i have plenty more on the way and now is the time to experiment. wrapped up two 14g cobs in one full newspaper sheet. this may sound light, but the buds are very fluffy and mostly foxtails. i just squeezed it good and tight and rolled the whole thing up. then i folded the ends back onto the cob and tied it down with twine. sealed and put in the crockpot for 12 hours. came out still very green but one solid chunk. only the paper right next to the cob looked like it got wet but the cob was dry. so i sealed it back up and didn't even look at the other one. got them sealed and ready to cure for a month.
might put one back in the crockpot for another 12 hours.

Tried my hand at giving some buds a cold sweat and don't recommend it as I lost a shit load to fungus. It does work though and produces an incredibly smooth vapour. The smoothest I've ever had by far actually though to be fair it came at the cost of most of the flavour. Here's a comparison shot of a normal 24 hour sweat at 40c and a couple of the cold sweat buds after 10 days.

It's all super silver haze that was harvested on the same day. Here's a couple of cropped pics so you can get a closer look at the differences in trichomes none of which were amber going in. 40c first.

The cooked bud is better in every way imaginable though eating it produces a dirtier high than the cold sweated stuff. The cold stuff feels much more focused and has mind racing but it's nowhere near as intoxicating or euphoric. I couldn't say it's bad at all but the cooked version is at least twice as strong and enjoyable. It's also essentially risk free compared to going full retard and purposefully jarring up wet buds. It's not even worth risking it to puff on some ultra smooth vapour/smoke since it seriously lost 90% of it's tastes and smells going ultra bland and generic in the process. I wish it worked better but at least I learned something and can hopefully prevent someone from making the same mistake in the future.

your comment about jarring wet buds led me to have a thought experiment of different ways to ferment/sweat the buds. what i came up with is essentially cobbing in jars. and i think tang is doing this himself.
but my idea is to pack a jar as tightly as possible on top of plunger to pull it out. think the opposite of a push pop, a reefer pull cob. i also realize this may not even be required as the cobs might come out of the jar easily. (which would be dope)
and pack as many of these RPC's as i can into my crockpot to sweat @40c for 12-24hrs
then pull them out, let them dry a bit, put em back in and seal the jars up. set to cure for months at room temp.
