Malawi Style Cob Curing.

When you chew, do you mouth it and get all mixed with your saliva for a minute,
then down the hatch. I never thought of this way to ingest cannabis.

Fascinating.

Hi DC I chew it into dust (5 to 6 mins) then wash it down.
It is only good on strong sweat cured buds, jar dried have little effect for some reason but a piece of sweat cured matured bud the size of your little finger nail (enough for a match stick joint) gets me tripping out and lasts 6 to 8 hours 2 to 3 of them being very intense.
It is stronger than extracting into coco butter, which I have tried, it seems to be missing something, while strong it does not have certain elements to the high that I get when chewing the bud.
I have no choice as I cant smoke any more, but the high lasts way longer than smoking.
I hope that helps. Tangwena

Very interesting!
This would strengthen my theory that the cobbing decarboxylates THCA to THC. As this happens at ambient temperatures there is no/less terpene loss than when making butter.
This could be the cause of the different highs from chewing and butter that you described.

We should get someone to analyse cobbed bud...

Hi ZD you guys and your pie charts ha ha. If I take off for the stars I would not give a toss what the profile was, but I can see that for breeding ect it might be of benefit.
It would be good to see the resin profiles of dried and sweat cured though. But I dont need any piece of paper to tell me if I am high or not. If you dont know you are not.
But one day someone will find out, but as with buds it is only that bud on that day by that grower. So it is only a possible profile and means nothing if the buds are not identical in every way, and we all know nature is not like that.
I just enjoy the magic that happens when I get it right, no two cobs are ever identical.
But it may show what happens during the cure enabling you to cure to the best possible level, maybe?

Very true, if it works, you don't need further proof!

On the other hand I wouldn't have cobbed all I have without some reading and theory behind it. I had a rough scientific hypothesis of what would happen to the bud in the cob. That together with the posts in this thread gave me the courage to go "all in".

As you say, where analysis might come in handy is nailing the cobbing process and it would be interesting to see how thoroughly the process decarbs THCA to THC after different cobbing lengths.

The other aspect would be to present proof to non believers. I think fermentation has a lot to offer to the community but many doubt, fear mold or simply believe it ruins the buds. More knowledge wouldn't do any harm I guess.

Very true its hard for people to accept without trying it first. The only problem I see is if someone sends a sub par cob for analysis and then those bad results are used to rate the technique.
Its very hard to undo that sort of result.

What a great thread.sorry if this has been answered but does this work just as good with indicas? The way you guys are talking I don't know if I would want to give sativa to someone with this method! Lol

No reports of indica cobs yet, so please go ahead have the honour of making the first ;)
My guess would be that it works with indicas too, with the risk of getting something that doesn't only put you on the couch but turns you into sleeping beauty.
Or you might end up with a mix of LSD and horse tranqiulizer, who knows?

I did some THC Bomb which is a hybrid. It seemed to make both effects stronger. It was more trippy, yet more narcotic too. I may do a small cob of Juanita just to see what it does to the CBD effects. I want to do a zamaldelica cob after that, but that's going to be a while.

That sounds about right Reikox, I am sure it would mature all the resins, I know when I did some of Aces Malawi it became so narcotic I could not even walk, no sleep just a trippy narcosis neither in this world or the other, not my cup of tea at all.

Chopped the Zamaldelica, 17 weeks, lol.

She was asking for it, so sticky and ripe.

Will dry the yield and wrap in some corn husk in a few days.

DC dont forget give them a good sweat, they should be moist after the sweat before you vac seal them.
The bag should be damp from perspiration to get them ready for vac sealing.
Good luck Tangwena

That Malawi Cob is what I want. Too high to walk and in another world instead of smoking a j and feeling hardly anything.

That is the reason I posted this method my friend, so people like you can get the effects they desire.
Just get some Ace Malawi, harvest them late as possible and then sweat the buds and cob them. Guarantee you will get the desired result. I prefer a more mental effect than physical but to each his own.

Oh i forgot if you really want to get high, after the cob has aged for 3 months, grind it up and do a quick wash with iso or other method of choice to extract the resin. If you think you were high before this will open your eyes.
In Malawi we used to make oil and then smoke it with ground up cob, its very powerful but not in a stoney way. Its also why my lungs are rooted, from drawing to hard on a pipe and not being able to exhale! I thought I was going to die, luckily I was able to exhale after a few seconds but it stuffed my lungs up big time. So use with caution.

hard rain

My Kali Mist cob has now pretty much dried (from post #301). This stuff was really wet when it was both sweated and vac'd. I have cut a bit off the end and there is no sign of mould. The cob looks the same on the outside as it does on the inside. Very compressed, almost like a long cigar of hash. The weight has gone down from I think about 25 grams to 12 grams. Smells like earth and hash with a sweet and tangy hint. Anyway I will try it over the weekend but keep most of it for a few months later.

Thanks again Tangwena. This has opened up a world of possibilities.

I plan to wrap and vac seal the buds after the usual air dry first step.

After the buds are dried in my paper bag, maybe 5 or 6
days, I usually jar. Does the corn husk wrap take place
in leu of the jar, or is there another step I'm missing.

My pleasure hard rain, if you find the sort of high you are after then I am happy. It sounds pretty good, please post some pictures. I never get tired of making cobs or looking at other peoples.
If we share the experience we can all learn from them. It takes so long to grow dry and cure the buds, the more people sharing the results the quicker we can all learn the best method and the best buds to start with to get the results we want.
Its taken me 30 years plus to get this far, one harvest and one shot a year, its a slow learning curve on your own.

Hi DC you have it right, others seem to be getting a better sweat from slightly moister buds, so I would wrap them a little earlier than if you were going to jar them up. Also give the cob time to sweat if its cool where you are put them near a heat source wrapped in a zip lock bag.
It may take 2 days or so to sweat if its not hot like it is where I am.
I only have to put them in my car with the windows up for half a day in the sun, but I have seen others get a good result from 2 days plus before vaccing. Just watch mold doesn't start if you leave them sweating longer.

Malawi cobs I found by TANGWENGA is a best option of cure ever, I have made some trippy and energetic version of it very psychadelic from Auto Durban poison purchased at SEED-CITY.COM best vendor to buy seeds. I found that negative effects of thc are inhibited by higher levels of CBD and THCV and if its sativa THC you get LSD like bomb that enlightens your body. I found this strain best available to create LSD like thc effects clear head psychedelic and so on with this strain:
https://www.seed-city.com/philosopher-seeds/jack-el-frutero I only wish this hybrid would be auto...
Sorry i missed your post mate, that sounds like just the result I am always looking for. The grass I had in Africa was all like that (cobbed) trippy as hell, it was just a question of how good it was. But always trippy the best equal to any other trip from a pill or plant.
Post some pics PLEASE I love looking at them and I am sure other cob makers will to. Nice job though from your description.
