all the people i know who use trimming machines, are doing it because of security concerns with trimmers over the years, if it's not one of them stealing or a couple, then they are plotting to rip you, so you try and employ as few people as possible. they will spend a day trimming with the machine with 2 or 3 peeps, when without the machine they would need a team of 10 to do the same job in 3 times the time.
but there is no doubt that machine trimmed buds are lower quality then hand trimmed. the machine trim seems to spread chlorophyll juice all over the buds which lowers the quality. of course after a decent cure you would still smoke machine trimmed, it's not like those few trich heads that are lost will make a big difference when smoking it. so yeah i can kind of understand why, even if i won't do it myself. good side of legalization will be that employees can be legally employed and you can put a camera over the trimming table and not worry about any thieving, just involves making some rules about no bags in the work place and other stuff to make it impossible to steal. pay them well and with time they will be loyal employees. but all that is impossible when the whole thing is under ground.
