looking to build a remote accesible motion detecting survalence system

Can anyone recommend a good system for this? I want to use a computer for the dvr and remote access. Just a couple stealth cameras that start recording as soon as motion is detected and then my computer alerting me via cell phone, or even an email would do, yahoo, could then text my cell.

I need to know who, if anyone, is snooping around. And especially for pig alert. since my finger prints are the only tied to the op. I need to fix that too somehow, but one thing at a time. Any recommendations/ links / stories/ anything is greatly appreciated. I am looking to complete this system over the next two weeks!

Well, depending how much money you want to spend, there is a combo solution to this. The first component would be the Motion & Fire Detector w/ Dialer sold here for $238.95 USD. Combine that with a Sony MPEG-4 Real-time Network Streaming IP Camera with Audio sold here for $649.95 USD. When the motion detector calls you, you can jump on a computer and check out what's happening. You would have to have a computer and broadband connection on site, though, to transmit the video because the camera works on 802.11 wireless. Best option I've found.

Well I appreciate the phyco analyzing 420, but no that is not the case. I could do some analyzing of my own and suggest that you are simply transposing your past or present situation on to mine. Let me assure you, that is not the case.

It is for peace of mind. nosey neighbors, overbearing postmen, cops: they are all possible intrusions. Chances are they will have a look around on the outside prior to busting in.

It will be a broadband connection. When any motion is detected the cameras will start recording and send stills to my yahoo account. From there yahoo will text my phone, which is prepaid.

That dialer requires a phone line and is not what Im looking for. I need steath cameras to mount above the front and back doors. The software is what conducts the corresponding orchestra.

On a side note, does anyone know how to possibly remotely operate a valve to say,,, flood the house with natural gas, and then trigger a spark? just curious, ya know. good info to have.

So what about just the cameras. anyone have a good link for some stealth cameras?

Thanx for that one...lol...I've thought of some crazy stuff in my time but sure...that's doable somehow but honestly you may then be looking at some type of felony for possibly injuring someone if they can find evidence of some sort. I mean if you just blow it up you'd possibly have evidence...it'd just be in smaller pieces. Remember the movie with Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts where he was some crazy conspiracy freak and he rigged his place with a setup to burn the place up??? I've looked into a camera system fairly recently but can't easily dig up the details. I think X10 might be an option.

for 300 bucks I can get a 4 camera system that will do it all. inside outside, even send pics to my phone!!

X10 is where its at, I will reply in a week or two when the system is up and running.

Cabellas catalog has many versions of camo cameras for hunting.
I also have a remote driveway sensor, fully battery operated that transmits a signal from 4 zones up to a couple miles. So to utilise this you stash them on choke-points of your trails and keep the receiver with you. When it signals it will let you know which zone allowing you to do what you need to do.Its made by Dakota Alert. The receiver is a walkie talkie too.

wow! I must say I really am begining to hate people who reply to these question type, informative threads with absolutely nothing good to say.

Yes sometimes paranoia does get the best of me, but I believe a five hundred dollar computer and camera setup, vs. 20 years in a federal penatentury has an obvious victor. I can just imagine myself sitting in prison now thinking "gee that erin kerrik fellow was sure right about paranoia, and that would have been so stupid of me to waste $500 on something so trivial as a security system."

So back to the issue at hand. Does anyone have any experience with this company?

Hey man...is that your secret? You do a final final flush in milk? Just kidding. I'm still gonna put in a camera system but it is not for remote viewing like you want. A concern for me is night time security so gonna do a plain old motion detector light sensor (with no bulbs) that triggers an alarm...something like that. X10 seems cool for a low end system.

Why not put bulbs in their too? couldnt hurt right? For asuper simple solution to that, you could just screw in one of those outlets into where the light bulb would go. Then just plug in some sort of siren right into that outlet, which will only be kicked with motion. That setup would only cost 20 or 30 bones at the home crackpo. but here are X10 low light setups:

I wouldn't let those wireless transmitting cameras be able to actually see and transmit the grow. Read an article about how a guy had those on his grow so he could monitor it from home and some how the signal got crossed and some one else picked it up.... turned him in and he got busted.

I do not want bulbs as that would be less discreet IMO for what I'm dealing with. The motion sensor will only be a triggering device. I do not want a siren...just something to let me know something's up and I'll deal with it personally. I do not plan on using a wireless system...no way in fucking hell.

Anything can happen. Your rez could bust open, your plumbing could bust open, you could have an electrical fire, etc. I sure wish i had cameras at my last grow. I would have seen that crooked ass popo sneaking in w/o a search warrant.

I am looking for cameras too. that X10 looks good, I'll have to look at the low light one.
