damn i hate reading threads like this.. makes me wanna go pop my ohaze in the fridge. I think a lot of people on here throw around the term potent too much.. i think a lot of the times people r forgetting its not about how fucked up a strain can make u but more so on the quality of the high and how well a strain can make u feel irie

does anyone have a special long flowering sativa room. I run a veg space and a flower space that is always on 12/12. However, many of these long flowering sativa require light cycles other than 12/12 to show their potential, so looks like im back to building another room lol. With equatorial sativas its seems that the consensus is that they should start at 14/10 or 13/11 and then progressively moved to 11/13 or 10/14. This seems to reduce nanners, reduce flowering time and in general is more in line with what they would receive in nature. Thoughts, comments?
Im thinking of building a 4'x4'x8' space just for my double thai (16 -20 weeks flowering), ohaze x skunk#1, and greenhaze x thai (16 - 18 weeks).

Right now I just park a sativa in the corner of my production room. I am planning on building a set-up similar to what you described, but just running a single big ass OHazexSkunk freebie. These plants get really really big, so watch out! Here is a pic of Sam's ThaiHazexSkunk that I nabbed from another thread.

That pic was at 130 days of flowering, but you can imagine the yield would be well worth it... I'm probably going to go with very large soil containers so I can leave the room to do its thing for a week or so at a time.

thx for the info foco, did you grow yours 12/12 from seeds. When it comes to long flowering sativas I think soil is a must, especially for sensitive varieties. A well made organic soil will slowly and evenly deliver the need nutrients which can be restored with a monthly top dressing and compost tea.

The sativa I'm growing now is called Phnom Penh. I got it as a clone, topped and flowered it right away... and I had to top it again after about 3 weeks because it still got too tall(and I'm too lazy to LST).

Long flowering Sativas are the most beautiful effects there are IMO. I grew a plant in AZ, not sure what it was, it was gifted to me as a "great sativa" so I plated it. In 3 months it was 4 feet tall and just started showing preflowers, 90 days before preflowers! It flowered for 125 days and was beautiful. It actually didnt yeild much, got about 7 ozs, the plant finished flowering at about 6 1/2 feet tall, smelled like fruit.

Hey Get Mo !

now 10 weeks is maybe the shortest i have (except when i mix seeds and end up with lebanese instead of vietnam black hybrids...). Commercial clones and well grown pure sativas will never be the same.

hope it helps !

What do you think of the Vietnam Black hybrids?

I was able to pop a couple old seeds from a friend that where marked VBxG13xBW. I ended up with one female and one male that I regrettably culled. Later I found out I was dealing with Vietnam Black X G13 x Black Widow.

I cloned it and kept a mother before I placed the original seedling plus a few 3 week old clones under 12/12. I've never dealt with a Sativa dominant hybrid before so I happened upon this thread to get an idea of how long these can go.

They're in their 10th week 12/12 now and I was hoping they would be ready to cut after 12 weeks, 13 at most. All the info here on LF Sats has me excited and a bit scared all at the same time.

I'm looking forward to that LF Sat high everyone is talking about but I sure don’t want to wait 17 plus weeks. The buds are already huge and look to be within 2-3 weeks of completion but I don’t have any experience except with Indica dominant hybrids.

I'll be checking the tricomes before I cut them but any info you could provide on Vietnam Black hybrids would be much appreciated. To my knowledge VB is a lost strain so I'm looking forward to some rare land race Sativa genetics.

With modern breeding and strains i think you can achieve the old sativas 20+weeks high in half of the time.....

The best '10 week sativas' don't hold a candle to the best 17-20 week sativas. That being said, there are some enjoyable 10 week examples out there.

Here's a Thai Haze x Sk1 by Sam:

Flowered about 115 days (16 weeks) in a small box without climate control.
Cured for four or five months.

It's very good.

The most trippy herb I have ever puffed was Sam Skunkmans orig haze x skunk, it flowered for 20 something weeks. It certainly wouldn't have won any bag appeal awards, thin wispy buds but the smoke was excellent.

If the plant is fed and watered, and you can spare some space to flower
a plant for 12-16 week, the reward will be applied to the way to grow
short flower time plants too.

I flower my shit micro style, all tied up and bent and twisted. Not pretty to
look at in the end, but with your eyes close she love you lomg time
like she was a movie star hungry for the part, lol.

I flower wide leaf types too. It is nice to have some herb to puff while
the other plants are finishing.

But never equate an early pulled indica to a proper sativa in
terms of the high. We'll knowingly smile, and maybe even agree,
but we're really just being polite, and little snobbish, lol.

Short flowering faster sativas are great but lacking sumthin a true 14+weeker has.. id say most not all ppl who say 9wkers are the same never attempted to flower sumthin over 12..there is just sumthing special that comes with the time and slower development. .. put it like this... smoke a 9 wk c99 then fire up a 14 wk panama or 20 wk thai/haze... it's the only way to find out how special these plants are is to actually try one grown right not stressed and starved with a 6wk flush..
GetMo u killed it with that ace gear... whats ur opinion now ?? U started this thread hella yrs back i know u grew hella different sats the last few yrs..
