So this Blockhead Bx exploded in growth in just a few days... the branching is very solid, but stretchy, purple stemming, and smells a little sweet/musky

this looks like it could be project waiting to happen....

ya man, the plants seems extremely happy under the LED's so far. I'm still unsure about the yield as I've only harvested one plant with pretty unsatisfying results... it was a brand new strain I've never grown before so I don't know how to compare it to my HPS' yields. I'll get a better feeling for yield in about a month when the Purple Dream comes out of flower.

That flowering pic is only of one massively trained plant. it's about a 3'x3' canopy of RKU. surprisingly that plant was only vegged for about a month. It's about 6.5 weeks through and is starting to fade off nicely.

sorry, hand is a little shaky tonight.

The environment issues I've had were, in the summers, way too fucking hot and humid and in the winter, way too fucking cold and dry... so by that description you can tell I am from the north east.
In the summer, with HPS, I was reaching 85-90 in dead summer.... but I lost a few crops to bud rot and shit because the humidity is like 85% pretty consistently... OUTSIDE! not including inside where the HPS is like a million degrees. where one of my tents is, it can not be vented to outside, so the tent kinda exhausts into the room, and then that air is moved out.

tl;dr: I had shitty HPS venting alongside shitty weather, and then hit with a 46% electricity bill increase. I was basically forced to buy LED and so far I'm not unhappy. Even if the yields aren't as great as HPS, I'll make it work.

I'm thinking SOG in 3gal's is the way to go. less soil, more plants, more variety, same or better yield/sqft than growing out trees. with a lot less light penetration than HPS.

if you grab some pics of your stuff tomorrow, feel free to post in here! I'd love to check it out!

that plant looks wonderful. definatly happy! forgive me for asking but what are the genetics of RKU? im in humboldt (west coast) and its very humid here along the coast. i have a dehum running constantly to keep the humidity around 50%. i probably pull about 6 gallons of water out of the air per day so i feel you bro. if you dont use neem oil start using it now. it makes a huge difference and is worth every penny. i reccomend einstein oil, about 20 bucks a bottle. protects against molds, other fungi like PM, and protects against bud rot. you can buy neem pellets and mix it into your medium and the plant will become internalized and it will work from the inside out, protecting your plants from getting pests or fungi to begin with kills mites and retards their reproductive systems so it will quickly get your plants mite free.

anyways back to your pic. id say by looking at it you did ok for 1 plant. how many plants total are you fitting under the one led light or do youhave multiple leds. ? looking good though !

Bombadil, those plants look super nice! I love how small they are (that's about the size I think I'm going to shoot for with SOG)... yet it's like looking through a forest of bud. Looks great man, keep it up!

As for yield... It's way too early for me to say, but like I said... first time I've grown this strain and just finished my first harvest with an LED... So I'm really unsure what to expect. The purple dream will be a better judge, because I've been growing that for about a year and a half, under HPS.

Anyways, the buds looked really small on the plant, when dried, and I had to chop earlier than I wanted to due to signs of hermie. just by eyeballing it (2 mason jars with smallish buds), it looked like I had about 2 ounces.... but I weighed it this morning and it came out to a very surprising 100 grams +/-5 grams. she wasn't a big plant either, just a clone off of the plant above.

here's a pic of the RKU from seed about 10 days after I put it into flower... I ray riced the shit out of her, but she took it well and exploded during the stretch.

for comparison, this was her about 5 days before I put her into flower:

When I was using HPS, I was running about 2000 watts of 12/12. My electric bill didn't increase due to usage, it increased because Nstar doesn't make enough money, duh! It was a county-wide hike, not just me... I need to look into solar.

nice training and shaping. same goes for your other pics. nice lolly pops.couldnt really tell, didnt loook like any super cropping so did you fim hthem a few times or lst? or topping? beutiful looking block head too. nice fresh hybrid vigour!

off the top of my head, I believe Roadkill Unicorn is Purple Unicorn (Chem D x Blackberry Widow) x Snow Lotus (Afgooey x Blockhead)

I have not used neem, but I may have to try it, especially since it's so cheap and I only really need it for a few months of the year! thanks for that tip! I've had fungus gnat problems for a while now, but I've been using Dunks with pretty good success... they're a bitch to kill, but for now they're not out of control.

I have 2 LED panels, and 2 4x4 tent's. 1 panel per tent. I've only done 1, almost 2 grows/plants under them... depending on how the purple dream turns out, that'll judge whether or not I am going to keep doing 5gal trees at 4x plants per tent or more of a 8x 3gal SoG style. less veg, less training, less soil...

I mean.... I can't be doing shit like this again with LED's:

I couldn't tell you exactly what I did to that plant honestly... I know I abused the fuck out of one branch, right in the middle of the plant one branch was outgrowing the rest of the plant, so I took it and looped the branch around a stake and now it looks like a silly straw. I also topped it twice. I usually top early, so I have 4 main branches... but this thing exploded with side branching... I started taking branches off here and there that didn't look strong. not a lot at once. then by about 10 days in I started clearing everything that hadn't reached the top canopy... in all honesty, I didn't know what I was really doing - I had no set plan. it turned out to be a beautifully trained and sturdy plant though! I am quite pleased with it.... and NO signs of hermi(knock on wood) like I did on the clone! so I am assuming it's just a super sensitive plant.... smells like diesel and berry.

Hope I covered everything!

I'm exhausted, I'm gonna head to bed. Thank you for stopping by and checking my grow out!

oh and I germed 4x of my Purple Dream x Blue Tara... They're sitting in dixie cups and dirt. I cant wait to see what comes of them!

:lurk: I'm in for a show. super interested in the tranquil elephant and roadkill unicorn.

Thank you for stopping by Ladyluckybean!

I'm most interested in the TE as well... I'm on the hunt for a really heavy indica. Of the 4 beans I popped, I see 2 really heavy indica looking plants with really broad leaves!

The RKU, well I only got 1 female out of 5 so, take my rating with a grain of salt when I finally do a report on it :p

So I just ordered 25x 3gal root pouches... I thought I'd give a fabric container a shot since I need more pots as it is, If I'm going this SOG route.

I'm also going to be setting up a blumat system once this RKU finishes up.

thanks buddy! this RKU is smelling really nice.. I tried some of the smaller plant I cut down and man, it's a hardcore creeper.

I sat down to do some math homework, so obviously gotta get some bud in me so I can focus.... lets just say I cruised the internet for an hour before I realized I wasn't doing my math! So at least the high is there!

I'm looking forward to your BBHill updates! that stuff was looking amazing!

hey, at least you calculated that you were 1 hour on the internet before starting the homework, math is everywhere lol...

lmao, I looked at it the same exact way :p. Sadly, the way my mind works, it's all math everything. I approach things usually at a logical and mathematical/scientific standpoint. It's quite annoying, but I've coped with it by becoming a software engineer where my madness is somewhat useful :p

I apologize for having to post a rather sad, but quick update in this response Bombadil.

Checked the garden today and 2 of the TE2's started showing sex and both are showing male. Both were the purple and indica as fuck looking plants. That's quite sad, but hopefully one of the other two is a female... if not, I need to start popping more seeds!

So I've decided to take my blockhead, and two TE males and flower them and collect some pollen.

as of right now, both have solid branching, but one(left; pic below) is much more impressive to me.

I have no real plans on what kind of pollen chucking I'm going to do yet... but I'm hoping for big things!

hello Lolryn :)

man, way to scare us by telling us you have "sad" news lol... it is just males man! :D

those plants are very nice looking, huge leaves; making seeds is always a good thing; with a little love and a little luck, you never know what kind of gem will come out of a pollen chucking adventure :D

peace man

I'm sorry to have scared ya! I'm just sad that I've got 2 males out of 4...Both of which looked the most promising! I wish I had the space to grow out more seeds at a time but I don't at the moment.

speaking of the males... today, after only ~36 hours of 12/12 cycle, the one I'm most excited about his stacking on balls where there wasn't even a sign of sex before:

First time growing this under LED, and I must say, the growth pattern is completely different than what it was under HPS. It's also had weird nutrient deficiencies that I never had before (same soil too)... but the weird thing is, the smell is more profound under LED... Need less to say, I'm glad I chose to not grow this again, even though it is pretty dank.

The purple dream has not grown any differently under LED... It's still got big, dense, hairy nugs that smell sweet and musky.

I'm expecting it to start purpling up soon, that's when it gets all purdy!

okay, now legit sad news... i'm 89.27543% sure i'm 4/4 males on TE... huge bummer. this is why I switched one tent to a veg area, need a lot more veg space if I'm going to be doing projects like this :X

do you mean a breeding project? why couldn't you still do that within your current room? I've seen some nifty ways to get around it like separate clear totes that are filtered so no pollen escapes inside your tent.

this decision wasn't made because of 4/4 males... it was made because I need to start more seeds, so I don't skip a beat when something like this happens in the future.

it's more of switching one tent into a veg area, and then the small veg area I was using before will now hold the spot for male flowering, then when that's done, I'll change it to a mothering/cloning area... if I'm gonna do SOG, I need more veg area anyways... I think it'd make everything more efficient.

oh man, that's a bummer indeed, as one always wants at least 50% females when popping a certain variety one wants to try out. hope you have more seeds of that one variety to try again.

I'm also thinking of doing a SOG next round, but in the 60cm x 60cm tent we can only fit 9 square pots of 3.6 liters and we have 10 seeds to pop; the solution should be keeping one seed for later or pop the ten and discard the one with the least vigor... who knows.

how are you on female / male ratios on the other varieties?

peace!
