I wish I had a good excuse for my dislike of BHO, but I don't. The production, the smoking, the product itself, it all just makes my skin crawl. Reminds me of the vibe surrounding meth. When did old fashioned hash stop being good enough?
so true
imho
no one in ther right mind, would exchange properly cured, organic, long flowering, heirloom connoisseur buds; for a farction of butane infused trichones...:moon:
madness i tell you & yea the dabbing, skillet shit practically screams meth...

old fashioned hash just doesnt click for some, when most have yet to experience what real cannabis truly has to offer.
the socal kids been on this since the watered down copies of elites over flooded true non PM,mite infested stock & real sativas became more rare then seeing a snow leopard give birth..

I find alfalfa is an amazing foliar spray. It darkens the leaves and gives the plant an overall appearance of vigor. I find that cuts taken while the foliage is darker don't fade and yellow as much during rooting, and also resist pest attacks better, so foliar spray the mom before taking cuttings. If the leaves look thin, pale or at all deficient I will use the alfalfa foliar as a quick pick me up, it's been one of the best things I have ever found since I started growing. Looking around my growroom, that is all I use now, with the EWC and rock dust.

I am starting 4 plants today in flower. I will only use EWC tea to water, they got barley a few days ago, and I will foliar aloe on fridays and alfalfa on mon/tues until they are in full bloom, with some botanical teas/neem as needed to control mites. All 4 are in 5 gallon root pouches with earthworm laden living soil and a "lasagna" mulch. I will post some pics as they progress.

SHM Your ewc and aloe teas, how much to a gallon and how long are letting it agitate?

So your soil mix is all ewc and mulch?

If you don't mind can you elaborate on your mite control program please?

What the hells a dab? I mean i know what it is but Am I getting old or does that term just seem stupid *dabs* *dabbing*. That's so true about the SoCal kids lol and "the kids" in general, name, density and smell is most important to selling product - notice how I put name first.....:/ fuckin sad state of affairs right there

So I just got this in the mail from the ICmag vendor AquaLab.
This is what I got out of 1/2 lb of sour bubble nuggets.

I think I'm going to try it with the dry ice in nuggets and see what happens.

This is my first go round with dry sift and boy is it a different coast, just kinda glide along. And smooth....ahhhh...

I started with regular plastic storage tubs, still have several going strong, just 18 gal. Have been adding 50 gal smart pots - tall, I really am liking the smart pots for this, but at the same time couldn't point out any negatives about the plastic tubs.

Sweet, I've been looking at aqua lab since I noticed it up top there the other day, lots of options for the same things, especially bags. Do you feel that's a good qty from 8oz SB nugs? I have no idea myself, just curious if you felt it was compared to maybe what you expected / hoped for.

Any drainage in the tubs?

I have no idea about yield. I've read about lot's of people weighing and doing percentages. I'll do an ethanol wash with the material next and see what I get out of that

I've got to figure out how to properly prepare the material so I get less green. Just a new toy. I've got about 500 cubic feet of fluff to process so I gotta do something.

Ah...such problems hehehe

I may be alone on this one, but there is no drainage holes in my no till tubs, nor my 5 gal buckets, an inch or two of perlite and/or lava rocks at the bottom and I'm very in-tune with my plants watering requirements.

And I thought I had a lot of trim to process LOL

I ran no-drain in my 120 liter totes in Germany and again this year with my 50´s and 30´s. I have mixed thoughts on this one. Managing the amount of water was easy but the movement inside the flower room was a little to be desired from the 50´s. Getting them to the flower room was a challenge. lol I think......with no scientific proof to back up my claims that it effects the taste of the finished product in a negative way. I had the best luck with a mono crop of plants that had little of no stretch. Cheezy´s DP x BMR and G13HP x Triple Moonshine that I grew out in Germany.

Now after running them a couple times in the totes I then ran them in 5 gallon no till with drainage. Yield was higher and taste was better especially with the G13 Haze from the Cheeze. That one performed like a champ in 5 gallon buckets!

BJW- run them side by side on your next run and then compare the difference in taste and yield.

I do love using the 30´s for Mothers. WOW! The DP x BMR got huge and bushy. One of the plus sides to using totes. It allows the plants to get really wide with the root base it can grow.

Is that a Pollinator, Joe? I've seen their sister product the "bubblator" before. I've been wondering how much hash you'd get out of a few ounces of real bud instead of trim.

Also yeah the creepiest thing about the bho kids is on glass forums they'll discuss needing a "travel piece". You're traveling and you can't just take a joint with you? You need your dabs that badly, dude?

hash = whole trichomes

oil = dissolved trichomes and plant waxes

That being said, I smoke hash, not oil.

I used to do hot knives until I found a ti skillet. It is the same thing, but more efficient/safer. If it melts, I feel like I waste it on the screen, and the taste of butane is more noticeable when you don't have a bowl full of bud, just a tiny piece of hash.

Honestly, I think making water hash it is worth it for the botanical tea aspect alone, think of all the cannabis scecific hormones and auxins etc.

Thoughts on various cannabis 'concentrates':

Dry Ice method is a significant yielder, but it seems no matter how small you break up the dry ice chunks, they pulverize some plant material during the shaking, ultimately preventing you from true full melt clear dome bubble hash.

Water hash if done carefully can yield FMCD - if temp is regulated at 34-36 F and agitation is gentle enough, and you don't squeeze your bags. If the glandular trichome head is broken in the presence of water, it may become inert - so gentle handling is paramount.

Dry Sieve is the easiest overall method for quality. Yields are often lower, but the best of the best results from just dropping your buds on the screen ONCE with no severe agitation.

QWISO/QWET is generally safer than butane, but not safe by any means. Check out Skunk Pharm research on Google. There was some hoopla about what happens when you vaporize it.

BHO if done properly can be safe enough to ingest. Find Jump117's thread on makin absolute amber - cold BHO extraction, winterize, ethanol wash & filter, repeat winterize, wash & filter.

When legalization does come I think we'll see a return to quality dry sieve hash in the same way that you can get an expensive bottle of wine. At least I like to hope.

To those of you with indoor no-till, how big are your soil containers? Say you have a standard 8 foot ceiling, how much soil can your plant realistically use?

I sometimes wish I could just move to the kif mountains for a year with a notebook and a pile of seeds and answer all the questions in my head. What's the new Mecca these days for growing? The Netherlands seems to be cracking down. Cali or Colorado is probably the best bet for 'Mericans, but you'd still be breaking the law doing a breeding program of any real scale. Is Spain the new hot spot? I ramble on, sorry for being so off-topic, this thread often feels like the Organics' general chat-thread.

It sure couldn't include Oregon. Some of the worst pot in the world is grown here.

Tough competition but they continue to pull off a 'win' every year......
