Speaking of Gynostemma, I am keenly interested in this herb. <edit> forgot I pm'd a few of you about it, but have not discussed it in the general forum <edit>

I started drinking it a few months back and have lost weight and seen my BP drop by about 10 points (I've been a little more diligent with my activity and diet too, so it's not all to be contributed to Gynostemma). I'm really curious as to effect on our plant friends and have used it in small addition to my herbal tea additions. Full of all kinds of saponins with some possibly unique.

Some light and not so light reading to those interested.

This is just scratching the surface. Anyone else interested in looking into the benefits of this plant on humans, animals and plants should PM me. I think there are some real benefits for our friendly little mj plants and for us.

OK, enough science. Some more garden shots.

Pure Purple Haze from Ace. This one is a true litmus test for how far one can push the boundaries indoors. This plant has no business being inside yet here I am hiding her from the moon. The soil mix is too hot. Light intensity, schedule, etc. all conspiring against me. This is about 5 weeks of flower. Only 15 more or so to go.

Ace Purple Haze x Meao Thai. A bit more manageable indoors. About the same expected finish...20 weeks + or - a few. I've got another pheno that is unlike any I've seen in these genetics.

Shameless plug for Ace. dubi gifted me a number of strains and I can say that smoking their Old Timer's Haze is like a trip down memory lane. Very energetic unique effects. No ceiling. The Haze x Thai adds a little balance to the effect while also filling her out a bit.

Old Timer's Haze green pheno started flowering indoors late in the season and finished outdoors. The fox tails a result of genetics and lengthening day light.

Freshly dry Purple Haze x Thai. Daytime use only...unless you like raves.

Hello, I live in a different country than most of the participants in this thread and where I live the only barley seed I can source is for animal feed. Think this will do the trick?

Thanks,

ql

there are better enzyme producers among certain strains but the strain you have available may be one

your barley seed is likely fine

your best bet is to try and see for yourself

hi i was wondering how often you all cull odd mutations out of the garden, like 1 with a triploid leaf (with 3 cotyledon's and 3 true leaves instead of 2 for the first set), or 1 with four cotyledons, or a plant with 1 "split" or oddly shaped cotyledon? If not culled they will just herm out or pass on bad traits right?

Looks like this recycled living soil thing works out just fine.....chunky monkey's~

Just keep building your soils,it keeps getting better.

Gas

Thanks to all of your input as well, Gas. I threw a bunch of clones into old pots that I wripped the stems out of. They will receive teas until transplant. I plan on re amending the soils and am either going to purchase some Buffaloam or some Bu's blend + some chicken manure and EWC I've got laying around. Shrimp, Kelp, Neem, Rock dust, azomite, etc. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Speaking of chapters, time to get to the back of the class and back to catching up to the present. At the rate you guys churn pages, I should be caught up about the time these hazes finish.

What about one with 6 cotyledons and 11 cotyledons?

A bowl of almost organic, living, soil buds (and yes I am properly ashamed of meself). Enzyme teas are the shit.

So far just barley...just some generic but organic stuff from the local feed store. I will probably add some alfalfa to the next grow.

Jiao-gu-lan, Japanese (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) organic seeds available at Horizon Herbs

Family: Cucurbitaceae

Hardiness: Hardier than previously reported - at least down to 20F. Does go winter dormant.

Herbaceous perennial vine native to China and Japan. Does well in pots. The dried leaves of this plant make a tasty, energy-filled tea that contains 4 times more ginseng-like saponins than Asian or American ginseng.

Seeds are fragile, we try to protect them in shipment and recommend handling the packet gently. Seeds germinate in 3 to 6 weeks in warm soil.

Plant prefers part shade, well-drained and Nitrogen rich soil, and is hardy to 20F. Makes an excellent indoor plant

Grow your own!! LOL

Do you mean the brand name Alaska Peat? If it is then the price you were quoted is a wholesale price - about $2.70 per c.f.

The standard 3.8 c.f. bale of their SPM runs $13.80 for a single - $3.63 per c.f. with discounts for multiple units, total amount of the invoice (aggregate discount)

Alaska Peat is definitely a premium Sphagnum peat moss - one of the best out of Northern Alberta province.

what do you mean? Those were just a few examples i could think of and assume here are other features you all cull from the garden.

i cull plants based on shitty features, such as lanky, stretchy, lack of potency,...you know what i mean. if i have a mutant of sorts then i would like to bud it out and see what is different about it. i'm a very curious monkey indeed. i have a high plant count and can usually find room and have an oddball kicking around.

do what you do, but be heartless when it comes to the decision. it aint worth 2+ months of bullshit for something that coulda been wiped out at youth....(this applies to women and abortions as well...just cull it!)

I'm only messin mate... Ive had trifoliate plants before but defo not ones with 4.... they either grow out of it or continue and usually yield well I wouldnt throw one out just for the reason of being trifoliate ect.... If a plant grows mutated I usually let them grow and see if they grow out of it but usually if you let them flower they are prone to hermi.. Well that's my experience anyway. and I would chuck plants out if the buds are overly airy

Thanks now I just need to find a use for the 20 kilos that come in the bag.

Can someone remind me of the method of making these seed tea's? I've read the thread but didn't take notes and cant find it.
