Anyone who hasn't checked out the thread "a perfect cure every time" started my simon, I would recommend it.

I hang the buds til the outside is dry to the touch, and the stem is still wet. Then I jar it overnight. If it is above 70%, I remove it from the jar for 12-24 hours, if t is 65-70, keep burping it, and store at 60-65% for up to 3 months, bring it down below 55% if you plan to store it longer than 3 months.

After a few tries, you don't need to measure it, you can tell by the feel of them.

Has anyone heard of Rejuvalac? That is basically what we have been calling "barley seed enzyme tea" except this is being advocated for human consumption.

"Rejuvelac is a raw food made by sprouting a grain, soaking the sprouted grain in water for about two days at room temperature, and then drinking the liquid. A second batch can be made from the same sprouts, this time requiring only about one day. A third batch is possible but the flavor may be disagreeable.[1]"

from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rejuvelac

"One for you, one for me"

I typically use a pint wide mouth mason jar with window screen for the lid. I put the barley seeds inside and put the screen on, so I can fill it with water and strain in one easy step.

I usually soak them for 4 hours, then drain, then fill and drain twice daily, without soaking. Once they have all sprouted, I soak for 4 days, or just puree, strain and use immediately.

I usually add the water from the initial soak and each rinse to my reservoir figuring there must be something good in there, but seems like I shouldn't... I would have never thought about that CC, good info.

shmalphy - thanks for this tip. You got me started on this with that very post. Since then, I've found COUNTLESS videos on this very technique (and thousands of others) on youtube...

Much appreciated :tiphat:

Ace Hardware sells a 6-pack of 1/2 gallon Mason Jars for around $10.00 and once again you can order it through their web site and have it shipped to you local store and there are no additional charges.

Good for curing/storing, making botanical teas, etc.

...and you can get the 'cool' one piece lids for them that you can put stickers of naked lady's smoking pot on....so you don't have to mess w/ that dumb metal ring and seal every time you open the jar.

Picked up an old blue Ball pint jar the other day for a cool traveling jar. The old blue pint ones are harder to come by than the quarts..so I snatched it up.

Just got a bottle of Lily of the desert aloe vera gel. They had two options. one had benzoic acid in it(avoided this one). The other has the following: carrageenan, citric acid, potassium sorbate. Is this product good to go? I know there's been talk about citric acid being alright, but I don't remember discussions of the other ingredients.

Lily Of The Desert Product

The only products at my health food store were gels with the not so good preservative and a more liquid (like water) with only citrus as a preservative. Anyone know what the deal is with the more liquid one? The owner of the store only knows that the liquid one is to drink.

I probably shouldn't poke fun, but this post is my new favorite!

Do you think a Pencil Sharpener can be used to grind/mulch the stems? I need some advice on stem recycling.

Picked up some black rice as well as a bag of cheap bird seed with a few different types of seeds in it. I followed the instructions found here... Soaked them for about half a day, drained, then rinsed and drained once or twice a day until they sprout. Almost all of them have sprouted now and are soaking in a 1/2 gallon of water. Woo!

Gascanastan:

What is your approximate plant spacing?

I realize it must be inconsistent, being that you run several cultivars at once, but I am trying to get a rough feel for canopy per 5 gallon bucket of ROLS as I redesign my space.

Thanks

Good for you!

What stage are the plants at which you are going to apply this tea to?
