What do you think about the new correlation of dimentia/alzheimers and antidepressants/sleep meds?

Someone in my family right now I take care of took Valium for 20 years and now she can't even remember her family members name or 5 minutes ago. I wish she would have not been so judgmental towards weed and smoked it for her depression instead of listening to the scientist$ and doctor$.

Node spacing on that is amazing for an OG...Exactly what I am trying to do with the strain but couldn't do it from just those genes alone. I always thought og really needed a structural improvement...

OG definitely has structural problems as well as little bitty short legs. But I swear the big diff you can make with nutes is not too much K and enough Ca...both things bottled nutes totally do not deliver. Bottle nutes load up on NO3 and make that stretch worse.

CC...those studies are pushing my pay grade. Gonna have pay attention...but I will definitely read both.

100% organic here my guess is it is the cuts I am working with...but I will be honest I have never seen such thick tight nodes on any OG and not saying yours is not legit I know you you know your wares.

Email from Bug guy.

"During certain times of the year, I do have access to them (Rove Beetles). I often find
minute ones in bags of leaflitter I collect for use the following year (the leaves go into a substrate mix I use to feed millipedes, etc.).

I also find Platydracus species in small numbers in October, each year.
Then I find various other small species off and on through the warmer
months.
You won't find a source for them anywhere that I've ever heard of. The only
reason I watch for them is for my other site at deadinsects.net

You’d definitely want the small rove beetles like I see, but it is unlikely you will ever find a source intentionally. Feel free to contact me in late spring and I’ll check some of my bags, but I’m not sure that I could provide them to you in any sustainable way."

So it appears there is a hole in the market for Rove Beetles should they prove to be as useful as Microbe Man claims, (I have faith MM or I wouldn't be bothering.) There could be reasons for this I suppose...or it could just be a matter of ignorance.

I posted these sites in the insect sticky...whatever its called.

It could definitely be one of the millions of S1s floating around. Got the right taste but who really knows.

Rincon does get some of their stock from the Canadian company.

My worms don't mind kelp but if I use too much alfalfameal they melt.

How do you feel about fish testing positive for anti-depressants?

Sorry - did that have something to do with Milorganite that I missed?

Anyone else have any thoughts on or experience with Milorganite?

Here is what is drawing me to it:
1. Cost. Totally.
2. Uber-environmental sustainability. I can see from reading this thread that we have top quality people here who really and truly care about improving the situation on our planet at the present time. I have no idea whether what I - and I strongly suspect I'm not the only one here - am trying to do here, by growing living, microbe-rich, balanced soil, not just in my med garden but out in my yard or window-sill or whereever else I can, learning about composting, about vermi-composting, about bokashi composting, about being careful when I collect outdoor quality topsoil, and many other things, and ultimately educating others about all those things and many more, is actually turning this ship around, but I feel that it must be and I'm drawn to it. Or else it's the propaganda and brainwashing that's triggering that attraction and sensation. And so putting my attention/thought focus on this product which is actually taking steps (however small) towards solving a huge problem is important to me.
3. As was said so eloquently in the very recent history of this thread, the plant is communicating this to me. In my experience, either it will work well, or I have something significant to learn from the attempt. Of course, that could be said about every single decision we make - that whatever decision we make, was made because it was the right one, or because we needed to learn from the mistake.

Sorry to get all "meaning of life"-y

Thanks a lot MM! That is exactly why I come to this site. Do I need to order from their "distributors" in the first link? The 2nd link is nice too but their how to order tab leads to a dead end. The weather has been in the 30's by day and 20's by night so I'm not sure if I could find the little guys outside, I assume they hibernate or go dormant or just plain die in the cold. Thanks again you rock!:tiphat:

Mr shalphy...
What do you think of your wild harvested kelp so far?
It is great. I load up on it as a mulch. Keeps the topsoil nice and moist, and breaks right down into the soil. I usually get some shells while I am at it. I tend to get different types depending on where/when I go. Makes for good diversity.

Plus you can't beat an off season day at the beach with the dogs, and a nice bowl. Much more rewarding than a trip to any store.

Ahhh, makes me miss the NorCal coast...one of the things I like about the idea of gathering my own kelp is that it's such a quickly renewing resource as seen in those kelp forests mentioned. Much more sustainable than gathering old growth forest materials anyway. Jealous shmalphy!

Vicia Faba (Fava Bean, Tick Bean, Broad Bean, Horse Bean)

I've grown/grow fava's and while I love to eat them (leaves and beans) and they fix nitrogen, they aren't what I would consider "super short." They generally get at least 2-3ft in my experience.

Yeah you're right, my mistake, he was talking about companion planting and plated fava beans next to cereal rye. The cereal rye is super short over the winter, but it's the fava beans that fix do the nitrogen fixin'

I am doing some Vermicomposting now and am likely to put my compost through the worm bin.

I'm thinking of starting a bokashi bin for kitchen scraps, actually I've decided on it, just need to get things assembled. It's takes me a while, being a lazy stoner and all.

I chose bokashi cause it's fast, and it's less selective on ingredients vs regular composting or vermicomposting. Bran will be coming from a nearby feed store, same place I'll be getting the alfalfa from. I'll culture them myself, with advice from Rrog, much appreciated man.

I may do a worm bin as well, and feed the bokashi'd compost through the worm bin, super-charge it :)
