Let's see and hear about your sick plants!!

looks like it's locked out, but could also be root damage from too dry/dead spots. here's what i would do myself. i would dunk the whole pot into a container of water large enough to hold it. you don't have to force it down. just hold it in the bucket of water or whatever till it soaks enough water to submerge itself or you see water on the top of the soil. take it out and let it drain then wait a couple days. if the yellowing continues faster then it's hungry and i would feed it a full strength feeding. if it starts growing new green growth after you finish dunking it then you know it was too much food and flushing the excess out fixed it. either way you will introduce oxygen to the roots and cause it to start recovering one way or the other.

OK so I did your suggestion PoweredByLove. Lets hope this does the trick. Also yesterday I took off the dying leafs.

So if dunking the whole pot into a container of regular water large enough to hold it. fixes the problem by growing new green growth. Then I guess this is the way Ill water/feed from now on.

before I dunked the plant I felt the top soil and it felt dryish.
A sign I guess.

I suppose as someone starting a new grow soon, this thread is rather ideal for my Cannabis grow strategies as it will help keep me motivated to not result in some poor tormented plants I see in this thread, haha!

lol @ you thinking you will have perfect grows everytime even after reading this thread.

Nah, but i'll at least greatly reduce my risk and be a lot more careful with my cannabis grows for sure. Haha! I am not expecting a perfect grow but if this thread taught me one thing, it's to put a lot more time and effort into it than I probably would have.

Hey all,

Would appreciate your help. Got several issues plaguing plants in veg (half-way through the 18/6 cycle). The plants are in 5 gallon buckets, the medium is Sunshine #4 mix, watering with

The good:

- No drooping of leaves
- Temp (78 F) & humidity (~50%) all within proper range
- Vertical plant growth rate has been as expected

The bad:

- Leaves curling on sides (signs of heat stress, which is weird because the lights are at 50% of 1000HPS and 4 feet above the plants)
- Upper leaves are pale green rather than rich green
- Lower leaves are yellow and dying off
- Medium stays wet for a LONG time (this is a major concern for me, worried about root rot or drowning the plants?)

The pics:

I think the pH might be a little low, and possibly a Calcium & Magnesium deficiency based on some pics I've seen.. but wanted some experienced growers' opinions as well. Thanks!

Ingvar,

If your medium stays wet, the aminoacids exuded by roots are diluted and you will have big time calcium problems. If you applied too much magnesium, things will stay wet forever.

Wash in 15 grams or so of powdered milk and then turn off the water for a couple of days.

Hard to dial things in without a soil analysis.

Do you have a conductivity meter? If so, wash through some plain water and report back the conductivity of your run out...

Very doubtful the problem is with too much Mag, these guys were transplanted from smaller pots into larger pots and given VERY little dosage (my PPMs were less than 400 in the initial transplanting mix, all I gave was full recommended dose of KLN for rooting and half-dose of Foliage Pro).

I do think my initial pH was too low, I think I aimed for like 6.0, but the Sunshine mix brought it down to mid-5s. Tried to raise it with a light watering a couple of days ago of 6.7 pH mix of nutes that included CalMag. But the water is just staying in the damn pot.. that and the curling of the leaves' edges has got me very concerned.

You take powdered milk, 10 or 12 grams mixed with a liter of water or so, apply it slowly on the soil, keep pouring til it comes out the bottom. You have small pots, no? Then stop watering for a couple or three days.... maybe longer, wait til you see a bit of drooping in the late afternoons. Once you see that, water. Most folk over water dramatically and over fertilize.

Gotcha, thanks! Is this for raising pH of the medium? I am positive it's too darn low..

It is not going to move your pH much. You need to add some other goodies to do that.

What the milk will do is give you instant N (protein), Ca and P. It will get some quick relief to the situation.

OK so my plants aren't looking any better are they?
should I just start over from scratch w/ seeds?
I have a whole lot of seeds to use but I can only plant a few at a time.

Sure seems like they are starting to stand up nice with nice new growth. Did you see new growth before?

Don't expect to make the old leaves look new. That don't happen. Focus on new growth and vigor.
