i am 72, started smoking at 15 so that's 57 years. is that long enough to be able to judge whether or not i'm smoking good weed or shit?
growing for 26 years. 21 with hps, metal halide, and cmh. 5 years with leds.
quite a few of those years were spent running facilities that were state-monitored, using both hps and leds.
so as well as the subjective experiences i have had lab work (coa's) done.
i've grown some highly potent and terp-filled flowers using both types of light. that's just me.
this thread and the other one are full of not only beautiful flower pics but also many years of cumulative knowledge. some of these folks are very advanced cannabis horticulturists and breeders who have been chasing cannabinoid and terpene expression most of their lives.
don't you think it's a little bit insulting when people make statements like "it looks good but the high is lacking" or some shit like that? you can't possibly tell what the high is like looking at pictures.
we are here to improve. no matter your level of knowledge or skill. everyone wants to get better.

Do you have a loupe? Put it in front of your phone camera for macro. It's quite fiddly, but produces surprisingly good results when you manage to line them up properly.

I have one of those clip on macro lenses that I can't find lol. That simple phone camera photo shows the trichome density and 'bulbous head' development that some deny LED's can produce though.
I can appreciate that response. Ill say it took a solid year getting the hang of it. I was a full naysayer and angry about it. It was a HARD learning curve but it paid off ime. Its no joke returns once you dial it.
You know why I don't believe you Crooked8, not cuz I don't believe your background or experience, not at all, it's just I heard so many people in real life describe what you describe when it comes to their led buds, year 2000 weed ! Better then what you ever smoked ! And many types of these mumblings, but the point is, no matter what words they use to describe their mids smoke, it's always the same crap that's worth nothing

So after more then 5 growers all admiring their led bud like it's straight gold but turned out to be utter lame, I gave up on it.
Like exotic has said, even the concentrate of these led buds (hash, kief, whatever) is so lame you need to smoke it all day.
When consumption goes up, that's a distinct sign quality has gone down.
And I'm talking about the private home growers not commercial ops that don't care about quality...

At the end of it, I still don't understand why people try to use this tech for stuff it wasn't supposed to be used at.

But if you look at the resin heads of led vs hid buds, generally with hid buds the resin heads are nearly double the width of the stalk.
With led buds, generally, the heads are the width of the stalk.

I dont care if you dont believe me. My consumer reviews and my own opinion matter to me. I did not “forget” what being high is. Do you realize how absurd that is to assume about someone who made this their living? Aside from the higher cannabinoid and terpene tests, my own experience. The same strains ive known and held for 15+ years. You think i cant tell a decrease in quality, of my own shit that i bred myself? Thats basically saying you think i am dumb. And yeah, thats insulting, but i really dont mind because i look forward to showing you what can be done with leds, even if you cant perform your coveted “smoke test”. At least ill give you a show.

I can try...
I realize my photos suck but im going to work on that. I need a good camera anyway. But you can clearly see amber and trichome heads intact and larger than stalks. And those came from Agrobar720s. I actually feel like mine look more swollen than your HPS photo. The shit is delicious and heady and puts people DOWN. Anyone can call this “mids” if they like
