LED and BUD QUALITY

CannaT

starin' at the world through my rearview
@CannaT Strain is from a test run i did for Karma and Hortilab in 2013. This is Hortilabs Starbud Sister x Karmas Biker OG. Top photo is no flash second with flash. On the left is CMH on the right is LED. CMH is fluffier and greener, slightly more subtle nose but still very loud skunky pine gassy smells, on the right with the LED we see more compact structure, more anthocyannin production and its just slightly more aromatic and skunky. They are seriously near identical on the nose, just seems LED produced more of a nose. I purposefully chose to show you this because it has OG lineage and is something ive grown since i popped the seed in 2013. Ive run this under single ended HPS in a personal space, under 140 DE hps commercially, under CMH, and under gavita, boulderlamp, chilLed, Ion and now Agrobar LEDs. There is no strain i am more familiar with.

Also it depends how it was grown.
I dont know its my expirience you have different and that is good.
I dont want to be rude but both of those 2 flowers have much more space for improvment.
If I need to judge them 1-5 It will be 3.5.

Chasing The Present
Yeah and alot of blue, these receptors respond to both
Absorption-spectra-for-phytochrome-cryptochrome-and-phototropin-Spectra-are.ppm

And the CFL had double the watts and a better efficiency as the halogen-incandescant. Also not to be neglected to actual flux strength, and not spectrum alone, needs to be considered. All the FR/IR would signal the plant is a shade condition. Why would a sunplant grow towards that?

Have you found they grew towards UVB as well?
@led05 observes they do.
Would be great if he shared his observations in this thread.

UVB I run peaks @ 306nm and is nearly all within 280-315nm which basically is the exact range UVB spans and interestingly Vitamin D synthesis too, it’s no coincidence why UVB is the shit & UVA swag imo/e..

That said I don’t notice UVB being much involved in phototropism likely due fact it’s more driven by 390-500nm range and also fact my lights within that range are much brighter than my UVB 280-315nm ones…

I absolutely believe in UVB

TO add to above, I was extremely early adopter of LED mid / late 2000’s, I can’t begin to talk about the horror stories along the ways…

LED absolutely have a place in grow rooms and DE HPS does too, all my rooms have both and I have tens of thousands of dollars in LED sitting @, it’s by choice for sure.

If they are still giving away 750 & 1000w DE HPS systems I’d be buying them up, I went wild buying up the Hortilux systems for like 20% on the dollar

GL y’all, especially reading through the first link - ha

What did your buds look like again? I believe there was a ton of improvement you could have as well. Id rate yours a 2 “if i have to judge”. How does that feel? Did that feel rude? Im just sharing my experience….

This is our past run in our new room. We still had challenges which we appear to have overcome this current run in the new space. Id still much rather my product than what you posted. No offense dont mean to be rude.

You always find a way of making your comments sound like you are talking down to everyone. We can blame the language/translator barrier, but i think you know exactly how your comments sound.

Show me, show me a pic like i showed u under LED... full trichome heads across the entire flower structure leaves etc... sorry, you wont find one.
LED are great dont get me wrong bro, they are not fitted to flower anything, not stuff that need the highest intensity ever, science says to up the ppdf when your flowering, but science also told u not to go over 1000 ppfd as its not necessary, when you dont go above and beyond (in light intensity) you will get poor resulst, no matter the light source, and LED prove that, just look, leave the science papers in favor of your eyes for a sec.
I grew this under a home made cob rig. One of the frostiest plants I've ever see.
Ihg platinum strain

I attribute heavy trichome development mostly to genetics and nutrition

If it's truly more Ca uptake you wanted, then opening up the pathways looks a viable option. They can be opened up many many fold.

I'm just in from the world buffet, putting another can down my neck, as I think about my pipe. What I'm saying, is I can't remember how right now lol

Enzymes or something.

Since it is immobile, Bugbee equates it to logs floating down a river vs it being IN a river like a mobile nutrient. Take that for what its worth. Ive heard of great successes with foliar ca applications but ive never tried it.

Do you have a link to this DIY project of yours? I need instructions (asking for a bud)
Theres a few instructions around the net. Youtube growmau5 diy for a slightly older version; bit chip selection works a bit different now that cobs isnt that much favored.

Another place to start is googling ledgardener strips diy ; he has instructions for a lot of different strips and configs.

I do diy myself if you have some onoff questions

I learned about the DIY action on RIU. There was a super knowledgeable and happy to share tech group there a few years back. You could browse threads there and figure things out. If I come across specific threads I will dm you.
haha thanks mate, I was just curious which components you assembled, I was wondering if you could drop a couple of lines about that, just summarily, really.

Should that be asking for my bud..
Yes, sorry, sometimes my keyboard doesn't register the key and neither does my brain at times, thank you for correcting me senpai. But we all know what was really going on ...
