Whew, all transplanting and trimming done except for the big purple AK47, but so far we're at 10.3# for the last 8 lights, not great, but not as bad as I thought. Stuck 250 clones last night, and sampled the Pure Thai and SSH. The Thai is very tasty, uplifting weed, I like it a lot. SSH is a total creeper, half an hour after smoking it knocked me upside the head SO hard! I love it, keeping every gram of that one for myself! :)

Maui wowie didn't do shit, got an OZ off a 3' tall plant. I'm thinking it should be an outside strain, or just wants a hood overhead.

HEY LAZY, any more updates man, havnt heard from you in awhile,

Hey guys, all is well, enjoying some sunshine and the little lull between crops. Next Friday we take down 42 Jackpots, 21 Blue Dragons, a couple Hogs and a couple G13XHazes. It's gonna be a very nice crop, got some really fat buds especially on these Jackpots!

i neglected my last batch of 250 clones so I gotta go back for some more.

Power is done for the outdoor spot (for the indoor veg room) and I have price quotes for everything, pulling the trigger on some big orders monday. Oooh boy!

Great to hear your good lazy, cant wait to see this next cropout, ive been waiting awhile to see how these blue dragons come out :D, sound so delic.

Cheers Afro.

I think this is my 9th year growing professionally, I had a couple small half ass attempts before that though.

So things are going fine, I added another dehuey to flower, reconfigured my 3 exhaust fans in flower, and have been packing in the runs very tight.

2 weeks ago we pulled down 42 jackpots, 21 Blue Dragons, 2 Hogs and 2 G13XHazes. We lost about a pound to mold, I was trying to ditch the Eagle20 spray at week 4 of flower with disastrous consequences. I'm back to doing it now. We pulled a total of 8.2# without the mold, not great by any means.

Rows 1 and 2 of flower are 4.5 weeks in, and consists of:

14 Triple Platinum OG Kush (tall, bushy, and very vigorous, my new fave strain!)
18 Jackpots
4 Blackberry Cheese
1 Pure Thai
1 Chocolope

Row 2

18 G13XHaze (fattest buds yet, they are already bigger than golf balls at week 4.5!)
18 Super Silver Haze (nice tall/skinny structure, suits these vert grows very well)

Row 3 (now 5 days in flower)
18 Triple Platinum OG
24 SSH

Row 4 (5 days in flower)

31 Pineapple Thai
5 Deadhead OGs (SFV OG X ChemDawg) 1 of each of 5 phenos.

Veg was refilled with G13Xhaze, SSH, purple Gorilla, OG Kush and some more Pineapple Thai. Also threw in 4 sour diesels and 4 Chem Dawgs too, love those old school cuts.

I've been trying to run more and more OG, so I have SFV, regular OG, Cherry Pie OG, Bubba Kush, Triple Platinum OG, and 1 tiny little Skywalker OG. Still trying to get my hands on a Larry or Tahoe cut!!

Preveg is indicative of the future, very few of these remain, just keeping them in case I want em in the future:

Grape Stomper
Jackpot
Maui Wowie
The Hog
Purple AK47

there's lots of kushes in preveg, and am starting up some Serious AK47's. Also just picked up a few cuts each of Skunk#2 and Purple Kush, so we'll see how those end up.

Hope you're all well, happy 4/20 everyone!

Hey Lazyman, amazing setup.. ive been following your threads for awhile. really badass! i wanted to ask u a couple ?'s if i may? I have a 10' by 20' room. I'm only using 1 or 2k for the summer.. am i better off getting a tent (so that i have a smaller area to cool?).
never used a tent, or an ac.. so any advice would be awesome.
also, it seems this op (your 16k vert) is exhaust cooled only, no ac? is it possible to exhaust air at a high enough rate to keep the air in the grow room the same as the ambient outside temps? (I would think so but cant say for sure). i live in a northern high altitude climate, so hoping i may be able to get by during the summer with no ac.. but my gut says better safe than sorry. i want to be ready for a heat wave, should we get one.

anyway, much respect. your teachings have helped me help a lot of people. peace bro

ok, last question.. (sorry for hijacking your thread). if this is not the place i apologize, but your yields and quality are what i'm shooting to improve to.. currentely at .3gpw in pro mix. i've read about crazy yield increases with hydro. whats your take?

again, i know you don't know me, so anytime you take to answer my questions is apreciated very much. i know you must be a busy man.. the trimming alone my god.. thanks for the help

Thanks very much man, glad to hear I've helped you out.
For a smaller space ina big one, there are two schools of thought:

1) Yes, use a tent. It will allow you to concentrate your light and focused environmental controls into a small area, making it more productive. However, the tents arent cheap and have some drawbacks of their own (lower ceiling, weight support is limited, etc.) They are harder to fit dehueys and air conditioners in, so sealed tents are typically not done.

2: No, don't use a tent. The light will be diffused more, but you will have more space, no cost to buy the tent, and better/easier cooling with a larger space. You also have room to expand if your plants get bigger or you want to add more lights.

If you plan to EVER get bigger I would not do the tent.

Yes, you can exhaust enough to keep the room at ambient, but that isnt ideal when it hits 104* outside. Run your lights at night so they can hopefully stay cool with the fans off during the heat of the summer day. Yes, gotta plan for the hottest day and the coldest nights.

ok, last question.. (sorry for hijacking your thread). if this is not the place i apologize, but your yields and quality are what i'm shooting to improve to.. currentely at .3gpw in pro mix. i've read about crazy yield increases with hydro. whats your take?

Yeah hydro is best left to experienced growers with lots of free time, and who like to tinker with their gear a lot. I tried it and yes plants DO grow faster in good hydro than anything else, but it's messy, failure-prone (moving parts/pumps etC) and expesnvie. Coco is a nice intermediate step, as its got water-holding abilities like soil, but feeds on hydro nutes. The simplest system is soil, and thats where I tell all rookies to start. You can pull off a decent grow with soil and a couple bottles of ferts, but you need to learn what the girls want and how to grow before you can do a good job of it in hydro or coco.

Awesome grow room and set up. I can't even imagine the upkeep checklist on a 16k grow lol.

It's lengthy, there's a method to it though, really just making sure that everything looks like it did when you left last. It takes my caretaker about 2-3 hours a day to go through it all and to handwater in veg and pre-veg. The list goes something like this:

Check temp and RH in pre-veg, veg, flower and drying rooms and report any problems with controllers (2) fans (4) or dehueys (3)
Are any plants wilted anywhere? Fix ASAP!
Any Blumats overflowing? Fix ASAP!
Check water level, air pump operation, ph and PPM's on all 5 reservoirs and adjust as needed
Water when needed (veg/pre-veg)
Check canopy (every plant) in all rooms for bugs or deficiencies
Make sure drain bucket pump is working
Stir drying racks as needed

There's weekly foliar sprays in pretty much every room too, whether for feeding, mold prevention or pest prevention. I hand feed the 3-6 giant moms that are usually somewhere in flower, but that's the gist of it. Then monthly we chop, trim, dry, and transplant the new crop in, usually over a 5-7 day period. This is 5-7 nights of 4-7 people working 4-6 hours per night, but we get it all done and then it's just maintenance for the next 3-4 weeks til the next chop. I didn't want to mess with giant harvests every two months and all the hassle that brings, so we split it and do a large split perpetual instead. I like it!

if done properly, its the same as running 1, except the stress...
I love this grow. now if he'd only run a flip to another 16!:tiphat::tiphat:

Ah if only there was somewhere to put another 16 I would! Basement is packed from edge to edge. ;) I gotta move to a warehouse though, residential power rates are costing me $4500 a month, should be half that on commercial rates I hear.

And it shows in everything you do my brother...sorry it's been too long :tiphat:

thanks man, I'm glad it helps you out. ;) It's all about working smarter, not harder.

Anytime something breaks or fails, think to yourself: "What do I have to do so I never have to fuck with this again?" Or at least not until the next part dies (water pumps etc) Saves a ton of time and cash in the end. Also, "how can I automate this so I don't have to do this by hand?" My grow COULD be left for several days at a time, but since veg/pre-veg are handwater thats about max. I tried automating veg watering, but it doesn't work very well. The plants need lots of dry time to grow roots, and automatic watering is designed for rooted plants.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you're doin better than I am, my wife and I split up on Monday so I'm bummed as hell.

Thanks guys, very much! No, no kids, so far things are amicable. We'll see what the future holds though.

Gonna go stick my first half-tray of SFV OG Kush cuts, whoohoo! Now I have two kushes in production (Triple Platinum OG is my new fave strain, along with Pineapple Thai.)

Will take new videos soon, so I can show you guys what to shoot for in a vert grow. Took me over a year to get the plant count and strains dialed in right, but dammit I'm winning! lol

where did you get the Cherry Pie OG? is it the pure cherry pie or is it the backcross to OG......regular Cherry Pie produces purple nugs that smell like durban poison and candy...its GDPxDurbanXOG. they made a kickass backcross by hitting the cherry with the OG again, resulting in the famous "cookies" which i can get 36 an LB for if i had it....right here in the bay.

i have the cherry pie, its low yielding but just started with her so gotta dial her in....but really small colas at least the pheno i ran. even the SFV outyeilds her....im getting 1.5 a light with the SFV with lots of training.....theres about to be a huge OG kush flood because everyone i know has started growing it....im tempted to switch most of my production to something else to stay different.....but no one wants to smoke random g13 or maui crosses....they want the Cherry, OG, Cookies, or Sours......

From my brother, but the dude didn't come thru so I didn't actually get Cherry Pie. I am starting Cherry OG (not pie) in veg shortly and will see how that does. I also am starting to branch out more, I have lots of kushes (mostly OG's) but have added sour diesel, Chemdawgs and headband to my lineup again. I guess it's 2005 all over again. Sigh.

I just scrapped my G13XHaze strain, it molds so badly it's not even worth starting. Week 6 it all falls apart, bah!

On a good note, I have a Deadhead OG pheno that is just perfect for vert, tall and skinny with nice buds and a strong structure. So far I have found my Triple Platinum OG, Pure Thai, Pineapple Thai, SSH, SFV, Blue Dragon and Deadhead OG are the only strains that are shaped right for vert growth, but I have lots more newer things to run through. I'm hoping more kushes work, and Azura looks promising. If I'm really lucky I can get AK47 to get tall, otherwise I won't run it. If I get a good male out of my pack of seeds I want to cross it to Purple Gorilla, Call it Monster Guerilla or something.

i think the cherry OG is the same as cherry pie...it goes by several names including Purple Cherry Kush, Cherry Kush....wouldnt be surprised if they said CHerry OG because the original female they crossed was GDP x Durban...theres a few different phenos one is very OG kush like, viney stretchy....the other is more indica like with bushy leaves....one comes out dark purple colored and another comes out more durban dominant...

but yeah OG is very mold resistant!! i had a bunch of blubonics go budrot on me in a 45% humidity 4 feet away from a santa fe dehuey!! they were surrounded by SFV OG kushes and none of those molded up at all......ive never gotten botrytis on OG kush....i got PM back in the day but that was in the newb days before i got my hands on the eagle20..

Hey Lazyman,
First off this is truly a basement paradise my friend and I commend you for pulling it off.

My question to you is what is your growing medium, nutrient, and feeding regimen?

I am sure that this information is listed somewhere in the 50+ pages of this thread but if you could post it here and then maybe link to it in your signature I bet that you would make a boatload of people (myself included) very happy :jump:.

I look forward to going through this thread inch by inch when I have some more time so keep on doing it big partner.
