Krunchbubble Plays With LED's...

This is just a question, I love and use LED's-but how much do they drop in performance per year?

Mine are at least 2+ years old and I'm gonna need to upgrade someday.

Alex should explain as I will butcher the explanation...

Essentially their patented LED's dissipate heat much easier and faster then traditional LED's...

So their LED's last MUCH longer and at much less light loss...

I'm here just lurking I kno krunch has been a member for a while and his pics and posts are usually straight forward and entertaining ..one of my pet peeves is reading babble u can't unread that shit so I like when I can read thru a thread and get answered without asking

Those plants look good
Did anyone get the lights on the sale ? At those prices coulsnt hurt to bad to try no ?

Hi Bobbo4200,

Here's a graph that would explain performance after 1 year.
6000-hours.png

Based on our 3rd party LM80 testing, and 3rd party DEKRA thermal shocking of over 1500 CYCLES, we expect our light engines to LAST AT LEAST 100,000 HOURS, and based on the trendof our testing the efficacy AFTER THE 10 YEAR MARK is expected to drop no more than 10%. Compare that with a GAVITY (2-3 growing cycles) and wirebond COBS (1-3 years).

Based on the 1500 cycle of DEKRA thermal shocking test, we seen no less than 3% of increase/decrease of our COBs.

CREE only does testing at 200 CYCLES, and they won't last over 200 cycles due to the nature of their WIRE BOND LED COBs.

Copy of our DEKRA testing:

*Also to mention, Cree only does 200 cycles of thermal testing, and they skew this data by saying they do 1000 cycles of thermal testing (but this 1000 cycles only occurs at the solder points and not the LED)

A lot of you might be wondering: "So your fixtures last 10 years?+".

The answer to that question is .. yes, and no. Our light engines do indeed last 10 years / 100000 hours+, however, the drivers on the fixtures are rated for 5 years. Everything except the driver is made in-house at Flip Chip Opto or Starlite LED. We use Meanwell to power our LEDs, and replacing them after 5 years is really no problem at all (it's held on by 4 screws and takes a couple minutes to switch out).

Simply speaking if you don't use your lights 24/7 for 5 years straight... they are expected to last forever.... 50,000 - 100,000 hours is a really long ass time. :p

Our next rendition of fixtures may include AC chips that remove the driver altogether... plug and play 10+ years... but that's in the works.

Our UV Cob is just getting punched out as we speak and we'll have a sample of the UV Cob in a week or two.

 That's why I really like these guys...

Yes right now, I have 100% complete elimination of any heat generating sources in this grow...

Only bound by intake temp at night which max at 72-74 during the summer heat...

Yes, so pretty much what were once rooms limited in production only as a direct result of power consumption and and heat generation are now rooms that are....

WHAT!?!? It gets better and better...

We're not quite sure how much UV power is required for maximized potency. Traditionally, people hang small UV lamps or lightbulbs in their grows and those are usually 18-36 watts or less and the intensity of those bulbs aren't as dense and focused as a COB.

Our UV COB is punched out at 100 watts, and we're treading carefully due to how dangerous this can be. (as you all know... sunlight causes cancer due to UV and we're condensing that UV into a small COB)

We'd love your input/stories/studies you have heard of about UV and cannabis, so let us know and we'll try to develop a product that works at it's optimum level.

Pssssst, I just DOUBLED the lights output to my plants compared to a 1000w Double End, and I have zero heat....

New Lenses, New Light and A $1000 Light Meter to get the light readings....

I have the same exact tent, setup with a new Double End system to do the light comparisons...

drumroll.... I present Krunchbubble's grow in corporate HD;

That color distortion you see that you think are color blobs or camera defect, is actually the intensity of our COBs reaching all the way to the floor penetrating the canopy.

Non-COBs won't have this intensity.

More light and lenses, let's go!
Can't wait to hear how the tents compare.
That lighting effect based on the LED penetration looks crazy
