Hey youse guys which is this one?
Can hardly describe taste... mandarin cream candy spice/incense perfumeness .... meat?
Not even meat more like... a meaty vegetable of some sort.. reminds me of flavour that Marula leaves add to stir fry. I dunno. Just the finish tastes meaty anyway and really not in an obtuse or unpleasant way at all..
beautiful plant with lovely structure. Benefits from lollipopping in a crowd but which ones don't?..

Smoke is sweet and smooth with a decidedly mandarin creamyness before the incense spice and perfume (lavender) on exhale. Leaves a really neat "meatish" smell on the palate without leaving much of its taste.

High is immediate and interesting. Hold like a body buzz but centred in the head... more at base of brain than cerebral. From that buzzing "hold" on the primitive brain arises a euphoric somewhat rushing wave of cerebral energy that holds promise of focus if you cared to try for it..

Fun, pretty social and just... interesting. A little different from a hasplant high a little different from a "pure" sativa high but definitely closer to the sativa side. Also two things about this DID very much remind me of Thai (my experience is limited at best but I read and pay attention)herbs as some have suggested before.

1.) It had a "creeper" effect and a "wave" effect in that you were suddenly higher than previously thought and it would come and go in waves.

2.) It affected light giving it a golden dripping quality as if it had been splashed everywhere... this last effect is something I have only seen in Lemon Thai from a dispensary, GT and Zamaldelica so I was pleased to find it in a short flowering hash plant that tastes really just so.... sublime.

Above pics are at about 6 weeks flowering I believe... nuggets are dense but I wonder if they are typically so small? Either way I'm digging it. Might order more seeds and look for higher yielded if they're out there... only if the taste and high stay the same tho!!

You have the desirable pheno! I can see it from the stem! You're in for a treat believe me ;)

My long due smoke report:
First of all i have to say that i wanted to do a smoke report with some bud pictures but they were all gone before i could do that. That speaks of the quality itself!

Buds were very hard and produced wonderful aromas when you broke them apart. Bag appeal would be 9/10 in my book! Aromas ranged from menthol to incense and other special flavours that i can't describe...not a native speaker :) i have to say that this has to be one of the if not THE tastiest smoke i ever produced in my garden! I was very impressed with the smell upon lighting up the spear of freedom...such a pleasant smell- no smell of burnt grass/hay. Just perfumey aromas all over!

I noticed that after about 2-3 months of curing she really brought out her best qualities. High which she produced was very balanced and full. It was long lasting, mental, buzzing, produced a lot of laugh and induced some dreamy conversations. The main outline would be that it ticked all the boxes...except for the body stone! Otherwise it basically did everything it could! All of the people that tried it were very impresed. High lasted for a medium/long time. There was some ceiling...but it was nice! It became my favourite smoke of the 2017 season!

After about 6 months of curing all that toned down a bit and the buzzing qualities dissapered. You get some body stone instead! But yeah...it's not that flamethrower experience any more. Curing really brings down her temper!

So in a short conclusion i would say it like this. Excellent bag appeal, wonderful aromas, smooth smoke and a pretty good yield. I would recommend 1-3 months of curing for the best effect!

Thanks dubi for making this possible!

Thank you so much Bleiweis for the positive feedback and detailed smoke report. :huggg: Very happyto know Kali China became your favorite from last outdoor season! :)

You described her perfectly: great bag appeal, very very complex and refined terpenes, with that perfumey and incensey exotic aroma in the air when smoking her and with a really nice happy and dreamy effect with suprising sativa qualities for a strain with such an indica growth and fast flowering.

It's the ACE inbred line i feel more proud of, and that's why i've been constantly encouraging growers to try her and why i've been using her so extensively in hybrids for the last years. Pure sativa x Kali China hybrids are really the kind of plants i like the most to smoke.

THANKS! :tiphat:

I'm glad you enjoyed the smoke, Bleiweis! Your smoke report got me even more excited than I was for this strain. The best things are always gone so fast, arent they ?

My Kali China finally started flowering! I don't think she may be able to finish correctly. Anyway, the seeds are one thing I am really looking forward to!

Happy flowering, anyone :tiphat:

Hi Theo,

Glad your Kali China is finally flowering at your latitude :)
Best wishes for the flowering stage!

PD: Transplant her to a bigger pot if you have the chance! ;)

Very floral, fruity, incense, with some musky undertones. Dense buds! I love the way she makes golf ball buds all over. I think it's deceptive how much she will yeild. I've lost a good bit to caterpillars this year, they love this plant more than any other. You can see sections I've had to cut from the main colas. She is starting to fade and I'd say early October harvest at the latest.:dance013:

Looking lovely ColaCalyx,

Glad to see your Kali China reaching her final stage of flowering and that you are enjoying with her floral structure and terpene profile :)

You are right, Kali China is quite inbred and has been selected for quality and fast flowering rather than yield. Early October is usually the moment we harvest Kali China here too.

Thank you so much YukonKronic for sharing your Kali China smoke report too! ;)

It's a real pleasure to see more and more growers appreciating the qualities of this strain. You did great job describing her terpene profile in the inhale and exhale, not easy to describe her complex aromas and flavors in just a few words.

And you are right! I always have had the feeling that China Yunnan is related to some Thais and southeast asian sativas despite being an indica dominant strain, and Kali China is my biggest success in producing a fast flowering hybrid with indica behaviour that retains many sativa qualities from sativas from that part of the world, but even more refined in all senses.

The close up bud pic is delicious and so familiar! THANKS! :huggg:

I'm glad you liked that nug! I took a few more pics just fer you:tiphat:
To be honest one of them might be the nicest nug pic I ever shot... damn KC is so photogenic. So do I have a "classic" pheno? I wondered about thinnish leaves on her but that's really all that say sativa to me aside from the buzz. Will post pics later today..

Argh! I only have about 7-10 grams left each of BKxPCK or KC and I can never decide what to smoke in the morning because I want to save my favourites! I miss GT a lot too... excited to get more on next run.
I keep finding KC in my mind right next to BKPCK as a relaxant and perhaps even more so an anti depressant which is odd because while they both have clear highs they are quite distinctly different in effect.. I suspect KC will be my go to for daytime and BKPCK will be an evening or social smoke..

I think Kali China definitely earned a spot in my long term lineup though. She's really unique and delicious as well as being fun and easy to grow. I can see why you've been looking for nice hybrids with her; it's impossible to resist imagining how she might influence flavours and highs when crossed in really almost any direction.

Kali China Harvest 9.30

Kali China Harvest 9.30

Harvested my KC before sunrise. Great smells mainly of fruit and flowers with hints of spice and a little funkiness...tasty!
A nice size harvest! It pays to start earlier. Very dense and hard nugs. The stems are very hollow, more hollow than any other plant I've grown. Interesting. I have the branches hang drying in my best setup so far, with a nice cool temperature and air movement, it feels like a cellar. These beautiful aromas must be preserved! Looks to be a very nice plant that I would grow again for sure. The best is yet to come when I find if I enjoy the smoke. I will share a report then.
Thanks Ace and dubi for the hard work providing us these exotic treats:tiphat:

Oh wow man nice job!:tiphat: your going to thank yourself for the good slow dry setup. I took 10 days for initial dry of my first run with KC then jarred it for 4 then vac pac. It's. Freakin. Amazing! I think it might be best tasting herb I've ever had and it's got a right sweet high especially for only 8 weeks flower.

Wishing you good vibes for your dry/cure, congrats on the Harvey!

Thanks YukonKronic, I'm very pleased I have temperature control this time. Some of the methods I was using to prolong dry times before were risking me to mold. I hope my herb makes that kind of an impression on me. From the smells and looks of it, I am expecting something special. I have waited years to grow this strain! Next time I hope to get some new packs and grow a Purple Hunnan expression like your beauty. Irie vibes!

Congrats on the Kali China harvest ColaCalyx :)

Yield is much better than i initially thought! Looks and sounds delicious :yummy:
Please, let us know your opinion after the drying and curing process!

After saying KC might be best flavoured I've had I lit a doobie of BKxPCK that I nailed the cure on and had just hit about 4 5 weeks cure.
Now I can't tell!!!
KC definitely has a more social upbeat effect I think but even still I'm going off topic to plug Dubi's new ltd edition here. Actually call this ups for ALL of Ace strains. You think you found your favourite then you try the next one they offer...

I cut 4more KC yesterday.. wish I had left them another day. Was dealing with bad depression yesterday and wound up arguing with my lovely wife. I apologized and ran off to cheer up with my plants but then felt like a jerk and still ended up cutting medicine with Anger in my heart. Feels like a weird Hippy thing but I'm noticing how much the thought bothers me. Hopefully I'll forget about it during cure and the medicine will too!

Ladies and gentleman, we have the first resin. Kind of a rotten wood, earthy smell. She seems to be flowering quite faster than I thought. Pollinating a plant should make it ripe faster. The seed pods are almost mature, which is quite nice. I fed her some chopped nettle to provide the soil some nutriments. The yellowing of the leaves has once again stopped. Maybe I can get her to finish. My guess would be around beginning of december. Any suggestion is kindly accepted, though.

Purple leaves and maturing ovaries, so fascinating!

Happy croptober!
