we went out one more time about 25 minutes ago, 6:30am for me. the deer was gone but a pair of trumpeter swan on the river behind me were making a real loud racket, a pileated woodpecker across the road beating on a tree and crows doing their thing, cawing from 3 or 4 directions, yeah all of it spooks Suzi.

she does the cutest little 'I'm gettin' the fuck outta here' strut when she's worried and heading for the door, ears perked up like she's listening for danger and she don't look back, full steam ahead :)

never even considered taking care of business.......

fucking deer are wreaking havoc on Suzi's bathroom breaks, this time we had one grazing less than 50 feet away & when I shouted at Suzi to come the damn thing didn't even flinch, she won't poop with a deer in the yard, gonna have to take her for a short ride where she won't be bothered.

not gonna start scaring deer out of my yard either.......

A pump up bb gun would come in handy. A harder shot till it runs. You need to scare them off for their sake. Best thing for them is to keep them moving.

I love to move them deer Hank, from the field to my freezer :)

seriously though Hank, I'm handicapped, this makes them so much easier to shoot. I usually take one or two of them each November and usually near the salt licks which I keep farthest from my home, I shoot from my bathroom window.

to be perfectly honest, this is as close to my home as I've ever seen the deer come, usually they emerge from the woods line just behind the planted clover & salt licks, then they'd duck back into the sticks after they were done grazing. Scooby & Alice and all the springer spaniels before them had claimed the yard as theirs.

Suzi's gonna have to learn to share the yard (appx. 3 acres) with the deer, they don't run from her so she's not going to chase them, but she will need to learn that they'll do her no harm and to go about her business. Last night (early am of this morning really) she didn't see or scent the one bedded down at the edge of the woods so she completed her duties, the wind direction must've been right.

it was 1958 and along comes my sister, it was decided that the family dog (a dachshund named Pauly) would have to go. I was 2 years old at the time and devastated when my parents explained it to me, as the story goes I stomped into my sisters room and shouted at her "You deegusting!!!"

but here's something I never forgot, my folks were showing Pauly to the man who would become his new owner, and when I opened the door into the garage Pauly came running up to me. It was 3 steps down to the garage floor and my last memory of Pauly was looking down at him, we locked eyes as he stood there wagging his tail, a couple of seconds later my dad called him away and closed the door.

How important is a pet to a person? That's the earliest memory I have, and I have no other memories until about 2 years later as I can recall games, toys, friends & events from about 4 years old and on.
