Jumbo Stealth Grow

Did some work on the flowering chamber on Sunday. Worked out well. I had to rivet the light support bar to the floor of the veg chamber. It was alot of work, I ended up taking all of the plants and equipment out of the veg chamber. Got quite smelly in my room for a while. I riveted it up with some big 3/16" rivets. Then I taped over the rivets to seal it up, and added another layer of the silver film you see on all the walls etc... I hooked up the 5" to 4" duct reducer to the cool tubes. They fit ok but I had to use more foil tape then i would have liked to but it works well. I sealed the tube up and connected it to the venting similar to the way it will be used in a few weeks. It's flawless performance. I know it will be plenty to cool those dual 400w hps bulbs.

hey badgr lookin good bro,
i just had a thought looking over your closet...is it possible for you to vent the hot air from the bulbs out of the room at all....i know that my 400w heats my 45sqm apartment up pretty damn well man, we dont even have the heaters on anymore and sometimes i wake up cause its gettin so warm....and there is snow outside! so if your sendin that bulb air back out into the room your gettin the fresh air from im worried that your goin to be heat things up in the room too much.....hahaha only on IC does someone worry about someone elses temp problems huh?... anyway maybe you can just send that hot air up the vent above your cab, cause it wont smell will it.....

cant wait to see you flowering in there man....is it going to be hydro or are you going to stick with soil?

peace and grow safe

it's looking real real good badger. I have 2 400w hps lights in PYREX cool tubes but i have them drawing the air from inside the cabinet and then running it through the carbon filter to the outside but i like the way you did it. I keep my temps at about 77-81 so it's not that bad but i bet if i did it like yours i could keep the temps any where i wanted them. I see how you did the tubes can you get the bulbs any farther down the tube or is the base to large to fit inside?

Thanks FGandalf! Yea I just thought everything would work better if I had the cool tube air come from the intake rather than inside the cab. Is should work great. I did have 2 pyrex tubes that I was planning on using but then I broke one. I ended up using these 5" candle tubes. They should work ok. Not as good as the pyrex bakearounds though. I could move the bulbs in more but I wanted it like this to have more of the bulb in open glass instead of closer together with the base exposed.
My a/c busted so I'm waiting for them to fix it before I start using the flowering chamber. Too much of a heat problem. My whole system relys on my place being at 71*F or lower.
The clones are doing good. I'm planning a watering system to ease life but I havent decided how the hell to go about it yet. Hand Watering works for now. I need to keep a better eye on the mothers. Keep them nice and trimmed up and get them to look the way I want. Short fat bushy little bonsi's. Right now they have too many main branches.

Cut one of my real bad ass industrial 100' extension cord's up. It will work out nicely since I can all ways buy the new male or female end caps. I cut about 12' off to use for the ballast to power and the ballast to lights. Strung them up and got everything ready to go. Did some topping and cropping to my mothers they look kinda sorry right now but I'm working on getting them more Bonsai and this is one way to do it. The clones are all doing well.

Whats up Growmez? You must have a real system going it you can leave for 6 days. I gave up any thing more then 2 when I decided to go soil. I would love to set up and auto water system. I wish I could tell you what size containers my mums are in but I can't remember. Next time I'll check the underside of the container and let you know. As you say Grow Safe. :smoker:

Got my stuff together and finished a few projects. Even with my bum ankle I messed up falling 15' from my bike and landing real hard. But anyway thats the kind of crazy stuff that always happens to me. I got the dual 's wired up and fired up! damn they are bright. My ac is still busted so I'm forced not the use the lower chamber. My veg chamber is running 77*F. I can't have that. It's pretty good though b/c my room temp is 75.7*F. But the principle of the cool tube demands the intake air be below 70*F; at least in my opinion. Also changed my intake and got a fresh filter on their. I can't believe how dirty it gets after only a month. I replace mine monthly as opposed to the recommended 2 month life span.

The Lights still not quite fired up but good for a picture. Still have a lot of organization and clean up to do down there.

Heres how I mounted the ballasts up. just fast and sloppy but I can always make it pretty later. I put some rubber in between the foil and the cab.

Mothers getting pretty nice but still a lot of training and trimming to go. It just takes time.

Clipped the lower branches off of all the clones to focus the light on the others. Also I'm going to top them soon.

Did some more clipping to my clones and mothers. Just to keep everyone equal. I think they should all produce about the same amount if I do it right. Also decided to take out the trays I was using in the smaller seedling and clone stages. I need to raise the plants up if they start to stretch.

WV Rastafari, Thats awesome that you have been following this thread. I think it's funny that you think I'm organized. I usually am a slacker as well.
I read that info you posted. I have actually seen that a couple times before. I wasn't sure about trimming the roots until later in the year.
Right now I'm just trying to get them to look the way I want and then go from there.
Grow Safe.
Peace

YEA! Finially got my A/C fixed. Now i'm ready to flower!
Did some temp/ 800w hps testing. I'll still have some tinkering to do with the ventilation but it's working great. I can hold temps in the flower box right around 85*. Not ideal but better then starting out at 100* and having to figure out a way to lower the temp from their. Clones and mums are doing great.
Sorry for the dark pic, my camera was blinded by the dual 400's.

Hey badgr! finaly! that what i've been waiting for, some flowering hours.
just so you know i'm still watchin and waitin for big buds.
85 degree's is still to high but you'll work it out, do you think it will get higher as the summer months come?
been workin more on my grow room, it's lookin good.
my order of 15 white widows and 10 sweet tooths came this week, i'll try not to kill these.
now lets get that 12/12 going so we can do some 420!
good luck and be cool.

Still slacking away. I haven't got the clones in the flowering chamber yet. I'm having some problems. My temps with 800w's of hps are sitting at 85*?! I'm not really worried about it but It's not something I wanted to deal with. I'll proubly just go ahead and use it as is. I don't see many other options other than buying a portable ac unit or switching to T5 lighting.

Well, I may just be a giant dumbass  but I just realized most of the heat problems I thought I was having were due to the mis placement of the remote temp sensor. Note to self: don't put the temp sensor right in the bright ass rays of the light. I just moved it to one of the side walls and i'm now getting a more accurate tempeture reading. 81*!!!! :headbange HELL YEA!!!! It's time to grow some buds!

Thats right! flower those babies!
hey the clones look nice and green, how tall are they? tell me again how many weeks have you vegged them?
i've been workin alot lately but the "re-designed" grow room is looking better and better, i'ts got plenty of room and i found a unique way to vent the area.
i found a blower from a resturaunt stove hood, its pretty large and the nice thing about it is you can adjust the speed with a slider/dimmer switch, need more venting? no problem just turn it up! i was amazed at how quiet it is, it also has two sockets for bulbs if i need some regular light (not grow lights) so things are looking up.
Badgr what type of soil do you use? i have the starter/seedling soil but need to buy the potting soil, i have perlite, bone meal, blood meal and the Fox Farm grow big and big bloom ferts.
anyways things are looking great, be cool

Sloppy Seconds, sounds like your cruising right along. I picked up an old squirrel cage exhaust fan from work. It will work good for something.
Things are moving right along today I got 10 2 gallon containers for my clones to flower in. I also got some aluminum striping to help seal up my doors.
Every things working great.
