dr.bonsai dude your set up is sick! my buddy has a flower cab like your but its messer and smaller. well keep up the good work man! cant wait for updates... BTW hows the venting issue into the room doing with temps?

Thanks Dr. Bonsai, Always good to hear commits like yours. Maybe you can help your buddy fix his cab up. As far as your venting issue question, If your asking about the resent hood intake mod; Things seem to have improved more cold air to the hood = lower temps under the light. The temp in my flower cab under the light is an average of 75*-77*F. I'll update soon with more info.

budluver Bagr...very impressive.I built a C13 modeled after Maliboos(OG Person or hero more like it :) Your thread and tenatious planning is very entertaining and useful..thx BL

Budluver always good to hear from an old OG'er. "tenacious planning" Nice sounds better then me calling it stoned trial and error :kos: Peace.

UPDATE...........
Nothing Much Just PH testing today. Oh yea and a bunch of smoking and going to the park with my crazy dog. :smoker:

UPDATE....................

I decided I would fab up a nice little PVC scrog screen. I went to the local hardware store and picked up some 1" PVC and 1" fittings. Currently it's not finished b/c I ran out of PVC. I'm not sure If I'm going to get more today. Also installed 1 1/4" PVC sleeves for the plants to go in makes the insulated pipe wrap easer to insert without little bits of the Styrofoam falling into the rez, I sealed the inserts in with aquarium grade silicone. I still have to decide how far above the rez the scrog screen should be?

Here are a few pics.

Here Is a quick update. Just got finished setting up my scrog frame and marking it for a 2" grid. It fit's nicely and should work great. I'm really going to have to LST and train the hell out of these plants to get the most bud out of this thing that I can.
Here are the New 1"&1/4" PVC inserts and insulated pipe wrap.

Pretty hard to get the camera setup to shoot while the hps is on. This is what I'll be working with. Should be plenty of room to grow some fatty buds.

Got a few pics with measurements for you guys to comment on. I'm thinking I need a shorter rez? Is it ok for my screen to only be 12" under my light? Looks great now but there is no tasty sticking through the screen. I guess their is not much I can do, I already chopped about 3" off of the middle of the cooler. I could always do more I guess. Let me know what you think.

Is 12" enough space?

7" and much training will work fine. LST Son!

I chopped my rez down earlier, pics are a page back or so. I really wish I would have gone lower. Errrrrrrrrrr.......... I am thinking about re doing it!? Waste of time?

Purplestuffed, Thanks man. I'll try and keep it up. LOL gotta get my smoke one way or another. Cab growing is my main hobby right now. Keeps me moding and busy all the time. Gotta keep it stealth too!

Today I ended up doing some major work to the flower cab.

Now I did some mods to lower the screen some.
What I did was:
-Un do all my work with the silicone and cut out a larger section of the cooler.
-Raised the light pretty much as far as it can go without modifying the bar it hangs from.
-cut a hole in the white grid to let the cooler sit flush on the bottom of the cab.

I just gained a couple inches but I really think i should be ok at this point. What do you guys think? Thanks again for all your help.

Pic of the overall view. Nice 14" of space in between the top of the scrog screen and the light. Think it will work?

Up Close.

You can see that I cut the white grid so the cooler sits inside of it. Gives me some more room to play with. Also you can see that I cut the cooler down. I haven't finished re-siliconeing it or taping/light proofing the seam yet. Will have to do that asap.

Here is the update I did today. I ended up with a great extra inch.

I cut out the bottom shelf. Idea courtesy of scegy. Thanks bud. Just enough was cut to give the cooler some wiggle room and still sit on the bare ground. I used a 5Mil plastic sheet to seal of the hole from the carpet and prevent any spills from causing too much harm. Taped er all up and ended up with a nice little mod. I also got some more aquarium silicone and re sealed the new lowered cooler. I also re mounted the water temp sensor and ran 2 extra air lines for an additional put I'm proubly going to get.
Here are the pics.
I'm now working with a hole 15"!!! Sounds like a plan.

Started at 12" and thanks to you guys I gained 3" and I'm sitting pretty at 15". What do you think?

Hell Yea! I just gained another inch!!
I modded the height of my screen. I figured I would just semi LST and then use my low screen. Should work great any way now I'm at 16" In between the screen and the air cooled 400w hps. I'm guessing that the buds will be about 8" tall so I should be ok. I'll continue to mod and adjust as needed. I'm sorry I keep posting basically the same pictures every time but I guess some of you would want to see the small mods.
16"

I'm going to have to move my mini fans yet again. I want them to blow air to-wards the hood and the top of the cab has the 4" exhaust. The last mod I'm thinking of doing is to mod the light hanging bar. Maybe cut a slot out of it so I can hang the light about an inch higher. Think I should do it?

Here is a pic of the cut down screen support.

Ahpu, Thanks for your commits, I'm really glad my work can help you. Just think everything through and be open to changes and problems and you will do fine. Take it easy man. I hope to cross paths with you again. Peace.

Well I ended up putting in my scrog screen today. It took awhile b/c I used mini eye hooks that all had to be pre drilled. I used super glue with instant activator spray to help keep everything tight while I tied it all down. I also used it to keep the screen even and sturdy throughout. I think it turned out very good. I used the ultra heavy duty spider wire woven fish line. That stuff is great, very thin and extremely strong.
Here are a few pics.
Sorry for the low quality pics.

Turned out very strong. I'm glad I used the glue.

I removed the light/hood support beam to gain another 2"! I'm now sitting pretty at 18". Now I need to reinforce the shelf.

You can see how simple the new mount is. Very low profile to keep max use of the cabs height.

I cleaned the flower cab out and wiped the walls with simple green. I also cleaned out the cooler rez and filled it with 16gal of water.
I ended up coming up with an easy way to hang my mini blowers. The problem was that I need to be able to remove the fans to take the rez top/screen out. I just used little hooks and drilled holes in the fan base. It works great.
I also added my first 4tsp of veg nutes to the cloner. The cloner water temp is 67.8 and the ph is 6.0. I hope to see some real growth so I can transfter them to the flowering chamber and start LST.

Well I transplanted my mothers and did some trimming and tyeing down. The shiska berry(on Left) is my favorite and as you can see I basically wanted to trim the hell out of my sweet onion mother. It should come back stronger. I'm using Fox Farm Ocean soil. I cut the mothers root ball down as others have with their bonsai mothers.

Shiska berry on the left, Sweet onion on the right.

Here are my clones. The roots look good to me. I added my first dose of veg nutes to the water. I hope to see some new leaf growth soon.

where did you get those small blower fans... those are cool lookin and i bet they move the air. how are you liking the hydro setup?

Hey Badgr thanks for the kind words, i dont have the "connections" around here to aquire any smoke...thats why i've tried to grow!
had four sprouts going real good then BAM! all died overnight.
will try again real soon and hope for the best.
your work continues to impress everyone and the praise is well deserved.
do try to pm me a bud! ;) who knows it might work.
anyway, things look great, roots, mothers and the new builds.
your going to run out of room soon! good luck and be cool.

dr.bonsai I ordered the Mini blowers from Home Depot. Here is a link. These fans are great I'm using 5 in my cab.
I like the Hydro setup but I'm still not having much luck getting any new growth off of my clones. I see new root growth but no leaf growth. Proubly just takes time. Thanks for the comment.

Sloppy Seconds Thats a real bummer you cant get any local smoke. When ever I run out I can always find at least 3-4 trusted sources to get nug from. Don't give up Sloppy Seconds you will smoke again. Thats a bummer about your sprouts. I have a feeling thats going to happen to my clones.
your work continues to impress everyone and the praise is well deserved.
I wish I could agree. I just see a cab with nothing but mods to be done. I am almost always unhappy when I get to this point in a project. I think I'll keep working on my cab for now. But the underground super secret grow will come around someday! LOL.
I am thinking about ditching the sweet onion mother to make room for a better strain. The sweet onion wants to stretch and stiffen up too much.

Thanks for stopping by dude. I'll let you know when I figure out how to pm you a fat bud. LOL. Peace.

Dr Bonsai, thanks man, I don't know if my clones are done yet. They are doing better. But I have decided to kill them off and wait till i get a tds pen and some other supplies before I start hydro again.

I decided to get rid of my sweet onion mother. I wanted to focus on the great qualities of the shiska berry mother. the Sweet onion is just too stretchy and brittle. I put the Sweet O in a tub of FoxFarm soil and will veg it for a few weeks 18/6 and then 12/12. Should give me a chance to get the other hydro supplies i need and get some bud out of the deal. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm pretty high on some schwag right now?! I ran out of homegrown last week so i picked up some schwag. Its pretty nasty but its better then nothing.
If you look at the hood you will see that i'm just pulling air out of the cab now. It seems to keep the cab a couple degrees cooler. Trial and error is the only way to decide these matters. Here she is in her new home and final 3 months of life. Smoke well.

Fox Farm soil is F'n' great!

My shiska berry mother has room to spread out now. I will still be ordering some dank seeds soon.

Here is a pic of one of the clones. Its doing ok but you can see some damage to the leaf.

The roots seem healthy but they look alittle tan? should they be white?

Dr. Bonsai here are a few updates. How have things been going for you?
You can see how much she has grown. I have been LST'n the hell out of her. I'm going to add a scrog screen real soon.

What a mess the wires make. They work great to tie branches down.

Here is one of the clones from the bubble cloner. I put it in soil and have been LST'n her too. Makes for a nice compact bushy plant.

I'm thinking about putting this little bushy clone in some soil too.

My bonsai shiska berry mother is doing pretty good. Very full and fairly healthy.
