Not as much as you might think, funnily enough. There's a lot of variance in Britain, depending where you are - some areas are quite dry in terms of rainfall (East Anglia, Norfolk area), whereas others are consistently wet, like the North-West. Also if you live in a flat place, you can get very different weather to some of the hillier parts of Britain. And there's quite a few tornados, in the 'Midwest' of Britain, such as it is...:)

interesting, that's good to know. It's also good to know that the sterotype isn't true. Maybe i'll have to pay you a visit, elevator man.

i've been meaning to get to your side of the pond.

EMan - Ever looked at Mandala #1? Mentioning it as it throws up a purple NZ Indica dom pheno quite often and that x one of your MoFlos or any Flo(deeeeeep purple) might produce a killer purple strain with increased yield that will finish early and be mould resistant?

I've just put in an order for their purple seed Mandala #1 see ;)

AND...well done on bigging up the UK weather! Lets just hope we actually get a summer rather than a 'wet season' this year!

Yeah, I grew one pheno outdoors last year - very indica looking, with a skunky/grapefruit smell as I remember. Ironically, it was the very wet patch we had in October that finished that one...:)

But Flo is very mold-resistant, and almost seems waterproof sometimes - the waxy leaves and low leaf-count means it just runs off, so it should help with the more indica (and soggy) strains...:)

We're off again...

We're off again...

I just harvested the Kentish Creme, and pulled out approx 100 of the trademark monster seeds she always produces - at least half as large again as any other seeds I have. Which means JLo is back - as mentioned above, this male used was a son of the original MoFlo male, f3 in generation, but still from the Purple Thai line of my Flo experiments. So hopefully in a couple of months I can resume the project where I left off! :)

I've given out two small batches of the V2 Jlo seeds to trusted friends in the last few days, and I'm going to start the remaining V1 seeds, and an equivalent of V2 next week. Out of about 30 seedlings, I'm sure we can easily get a couple of good males and maybe four females to do some final selections for F2 parents. I'll keep this thread updated as it progresses of course.

I got to see the first ten JLo V2 seedlings today at my friend's house - he's going to grow them outdoors, which should be really interesting, as I'll get absolute trigger-times for flowering, which is great, as I'll be running mine indoors and on a fixed 12/12 schedule. All have dark purple stems, and fat 'DJS green' leaves (you know what I mean) - they all looked pretty much identical at this stage.

I'll be starting my batches after the weekend - V1 and V2.

I finally put ten of the V2 seeds into soak tonight - I've decided to take a punt on just doing the new version for now, and see how they turn out first - space is limited, and I want to keep going forwards right now. I'll update as soon as something's there to show...:)

10 out of 10 germinated, sprouted and opening up their first leaves - all dark green with dark purple stems at this point, just like last time. Photos as soon as it's worth it.

Hey EM, completely swerved this project up to now, don't really know why. Just done some back-reading, sorry to hear about setbacks last year.

Well and truly strapped in for the ride now, looking forward to seeing how v2 works out!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Elevator Man again.

No worries - I've got a lot of threads going!

It's a real shame about last years efforts, as that really was some of the best-tasting and potent weed I've ever smoked - really susprised me just how good it was. The KC is odd-tasting (sweet and sour at the same time), but grows on you - however, the JLo was sublimely perfumed and much more delectable, and I know where that part came from...:)

Still, got to keep going forwards. Me and my mate who up until now were the only ones with the Kentish Creme were both quite surprised last week to pull one of his latest buds open to find 20 selfed seeds! He never grows anything else, and has no males, so they had to be S1s. I've never seen the KC do this before in any grow, so it's an unusual one - we've split those for safe-keeping in case all the other stuff doesn't work out.

I did do a half-assed backcross with a JLo male last year and made a few good seeds of that too, so one way or another these (up to now) unique gems will survive. I've sent out a cut of the KC recently to another member, so I'll let them mention that as and when they feel like it...:)

Well these JLo V2s are no different to their V1 relatives - stretchy! Despite developing nice large leaves, their stems show no sign of slowing down yet, and they're pretty much jammed up against the fluoros. Most Flos and MoFlos aren't that bad in early veg, so I know this is definitely the Kentish Creme component - I've used different Flo males with this female, and all the progeny are stretchy - including my friend's seedlings which he has in a mini-greenhouse in the garden.

However, they all look healthy and uniform - one got culled due to a seed-case struggle that didn't do it much good, so down to nine now, but looking good, if I can keep them down!

Here's a first look at the new JLos, and apart from the difference in heights, which should even out, they look very uniform - as they should for a P1 cross. No real crinkle to speak of, and I'm expecting the stems to turn dark purple again soon - they've had a temporary 'lightening', which is what happened last time with the V1s.

Space is getting really tight at the moment, and these will have to go under more light soon, so may have to cull the lankiest in a few days, but I'll keep them all going as long as I can. Both parent strains can have a tendency to stretch ridiculously in my experience, so all other things being equal, I'll be aiming for the 'medium-height plants for primary selection:

Well these new JLos are streeeetchy bastards - just like the first lot. They were jammed under the lights getting sweaty, and due to a log-jam in the veg cabinet, had to go on the windowsill, where they've stretched some more!

I'm down to six now, having culled the lankiest, skinniest plants - maybe will also cull the smallest, as it doesn't have the vigour of the others. They all have fat, healthy leaves now with wide leaflets, and look almost identical - I'm not sure what to do with them height-wise, but I've already pinched the tips, and will have to exercise some clever bending in the repot soon...

Well the JLos have become quite insane 14-16" plants in no time at all, and have become quite a handful. Space restrictions have meant they're still not under lights, and have been in direct window-light for the last two weeks, with plenty of direct sun. Funnily enough, instead of increasing the stretch, they've slowed down. However, there's still no room at all here, and my predicament has finally triggered another of my friends to set up a small grow - from tomorrow they're going to move there, and he's going to run them as his first grow.

Which is great, as it means I get to sex them and take clones or plants of the males for breeding purposes, and pick the best female too. I'll give him a few clones of other stuff just in case we get more JLo males than females, as there's six left. Two other friends also have some of these growing outdoors, so between us all we should get some specimens to make some F2s from.

On it goes...

Quite handy really, helping a friend out, getting to track progress of the JLos, and freeing up some space at the space time - triple whammy!
