Dutch Passion's "desfran" is just a selfed destroyer clone from cannabiogen. They stole the strain and for a long time presented it as their own, and refused to give due credit to cannabiogen. After a lot of pressure from Spanish forum users, they changed the name to desfran, which means "la destroyer de Fran" (Fran's destroyer). At least finally half accepting it's just a destroyer clone, but still not giving credit to the real breeder. Fran is some south American grower who selected that destroyer clone and for some reason felt entitled to give it to this trash bottom of the barrel repackaging company.

I've never had the pleasure of smoking destroyer. It was always one i wanted to try and was very well hyped.

I bought DP's blueberry and Flo. They were actually quite unique smokes for me at the time in England, 30 years ago must've been now. They did have that berry taste and Flo tasted amazing when grown using that pukey smelling Earth juice organic feed, real dark berrry taste to it, slightly weak high but it motivated me to get stuff done.

They are supposed to have Juicy Fruit Highland Thai in them i think but i never tasted any wriggleys juicy fruit gum taste in them.

I wonder what the arrangement was for dj short and dutch passion at the time. I think it was kinda like and approved licensed reseller or some weird deal.

The Destroyer is a strain that is describerd as Meao Thai and a Mexican/Colombian cross.

I'm in two minds about companies doing this kinda stuff. At least it preserves in some form the genetics but to call it hte same name isn't great for keeping track of lineages etc.

It sounds lovely and basically like a haze i suppose. I'd grow it if i had it

I should germ some landraces really too

I've never had the pleasure of smoking destroyer. It was always one i wanted to try and was very well hyped.

I listened to a podcast interview with DJ short a while back (not sure which but most likely the Potcast).

He explained how he had an agreement with DP where he would get a yearly payment for them to use his seeds. Until one day they decided they weren't going to pay him anymore, and made their own selection, but still using the name and selling them as the authentic seeds.

earth juice! classic, we had that in NZ too.
I did DJs Bb in 05 in and out, fuck she cranked out doors wow.

Flo has been on my to grow/smoke list since then.

To me destroyer is the AK47 sans affy
Edit: in my minds eye I mean. I have never smoked or grown destroyer i don’t like the name or AK47 name tbh kind of violent but hmm interesting similar ingredients and names now I think about it

Ps I had a sativa pheno AK47 that I ran for years.... it’s the main reason for my interest in destroyer

i grew ak47 and it turned out a squat indica looking thing, smelt of cloves and a bad to okish smoke, it was only one seed and could well have been a mix up from the shop i bought it at cos they did single seed buys,

when it grew it i did think wtf is this. What did you think of it, the high and terps?

i only got it cos of the name in the first place

He was ripped off by sagamartha, then by DP. He says he can't really say he was ripped off by DP because they payed him, but he was payed 30 cents a seed . And then one day they decided to stop paying him. So yeah completely ripped off lol.

I bought the ak47 and white rhino seeds in fulham off the bloke who had a pop up desk in the hairdressers.

He looked greatly high and glowing so i asked him what was his best and bough some seeds.

I grew 5 packs of AK 04–08 all squat indica , made a cross to NL5 too and grew out the f2s .... Didn’t like it lol

Then I got a Pre 2000 cut through a mate that was a sativa pheno. Gangly long node spacing, spirally bud structure, couldn’t hold its weight end of flower, Softer smell to it not pungent Affy, would be 12-14ft our door mid April. Even eade a few people spew it was so strong

I had two phenos from seeds. One really zippy smiley blissful high with nice depth and duration to the high smelt of fuel and looked chunky, the other one, more sativa leaning was a real trip too. I used to keep the pukey one for myself

the DP ones i tried smelt of blueberry a bit but not like the blueberry from amsterdam. The high was also not as happy. The flo tasted amazing and was purple and unique to me at the time. A nice summery smoke for lightweights. Always made me want to hoover the flat or clean windows.

Shishkaberry was good too. Way more heavy Stone but more tasty. too.

Shishkaberry was legendary. I never got to try it in the uk when psychosis was about.

I did get to try plenty of cheese living in London, and i reckon i got to try a few pretty nice examples of it.

My Flash Berry, which I'm currently smoking, smells a bit fruity, but in that respect it hardly differs from other varieties I know.

Maybe it needs crossing to a mexican/thai landrace to inspire these long buried awesome genes to pop up but then you might aswell start from the landrace and just select from there.

It's much easier to find in f2s with haze in it, such standout outliers that may appear from a ding ding of genes combining, i reckon @strain_hunter

There are a lot of classics, that I missed. Cheese and diesel for example or haze till last month.

theres been a run on haze but i'm sure you can still get it, like from madmac..

Growing it is a labour of love. it doesnt mature at the same time for the whole plant and the yields for the time is low.

but when you smoke a few calyxes and it launches you upwards in a rocket you know its worth it.

The seedsman haze one i tried ( only 1 so far ) nurtures this ball of energy in your heart chakra. You feel it expand but it is a very centred high whilst still soaring. It's hard to explain.

Shit is a strong word.
But I agree they didn’t seem to get better After that point.

97-2003 saw a lot of new seed companies come in. Imo it was like the middle bit of the exponential curve. Right now I think it’s getting rediculous, every man and his dog is a breeder. Won’t be long till peak breeder.

@strain_hunter give the shisk a shot man I remember it being pretty sedating.
