The plants are doing good. I have been using molasses in the water (about a tsp per gal). Every second time I feed with a bit of alfalfa. I don't think I need to feed for a couple of waterings now because of the pot up but then I have some bat guano for flowering. (gotta look into that a bit more)

I put the two ladies in the flowering chamber yesterday so now they are under a 400 on a roller. I was thinking about pollinating a bud site but man.. its tough to tell when the male is ready. In print, it sounds so easy.

I love having puppies around but in about 7 weeks, my kitchen floor will be a dangerous place to walk! Everyone has to do the Shih Tsu shuffle (walking while not lifting your feet) By 8 weeks, its off to the Vets for shots and check up and then off to their new homes. Hey, should have some good bud around then for sure so maybe I can tempt an ICMager to come and get a pup? It's so wierd! The male dog takes an active role in parenting these little things.... he is in the pups bed as much as the mom. He was a nervous wreck all through labour... pacing, whining, and vomitting.. haha.. I seem to recall my ex just sleep when I was having the kids! Even made me carry my own luggage into the hospital ( hence the term EX  )

Thanks for the posts ppl! Stay safe.

Hi hi :)

Here’s my update!

J. Wakeford’s germed March 19

Two Ladies into Flowering Room May 4th

Time for my update! My dog had her pups! Four sweet little Shih Tsus. I will never make it as a serious dog breeder cuz I get so attached to the little things. Wonderful marketing technique. The breeder cries when you come to take your new puppy! Of course any sad feelings are quickly replaced with a feeling of total euphoria when the house smells like PineSol again!

And Now about DaGrow

We are on Day 30 for the J. Wakefords in Flower and they are still ALIVE! 73 days since I officially became a grower! Don’t y’all get some kind of membership card? My nute cycle is simple. I use ph corrected water, spiked with molasses and alfalfa or liquid karma. I’ve been feeding the plants every second water and that seems to be working. I’ve had to occasionally give these girls some magnesium but other than that, they have been pretty healthy.

The growth on these plants has been nuts! I mean, I topped them once (May 17th) but the darn things kept growing so then I had to kick myself for not starting LST before these suckers were so darn tall. I was kind of hoping to just grow my first time without getting fancy so I figured the LST could wait until I had gone through the whole growing thing at least once. (I was a bit unsure about the whole LST thing and didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew) There are other plants in the flowering chamber so I couldn’t just let them get as high as they liked because that would mean the light is too high for the other plants in flower. On May 20th, I tied the suckers down (ok.. one is now sporting a bandaid.. oops) to try to keep them from getting any taller.

I took clones (three from each lady) about a week and a half ago. I cut them off at the meristem and removed all the leaves but the top few. I recut them at a sharp angle across the lowest node and put them in rooting compound for about 5 minutes and then straight into tap water. They are all starting to show roots now!

So then I decide, since I kept my beautiful males (secluded in the bull pen) that I can try some bud site pollination. How tough can it be? Ha… I think I pollinated with house dust for about a week. I panicked and castrated the suckers. Before too long, he was ready again (I thought) and again, I pollinated with house dust and then something wild happened. I actually SAW the pollen and it was yellow! Oh kewl! I didn’t know I would get colored clues! (that helps) I grabbed my twin and q-tipped a couple of budsites. After my hubby pointed out what the seeds actually look like and thoroughly explained plant reproduction for the millionth time, LOL, I realized I hadn’t inadvertently pollinated his entire crop. <huge sigh of relief> I spent a couple of days stressing over that one! All that extra good behavior for nothing! Wasted! I didn’t go into this growing thing totally blind. In case of major screw ups, I do have a couple items in my martial tickle trunk that I would advice every woman to keep in her arsenal. I possess an “anything”. It’s a gift from my husband and I have held onto it for years. An anything is just that. An open promise for “anything”. Over the years I have toyed with the idea of cashing it in for a new car, a trip, the acceptance of an apology… but I have never used it. I prefer to keep my “anything” for a real rainy day. By the way, I think the fact that I have steadfastly held on to this “anything” makes my sweetie desperately nervous at times .. (just an added bonus LOL) hmmm, why do I always get so far off topic???

Here are a couple of pics of the Wakefords. I took them in front of the washing machine so hopefully that will give you a size reference. They are screaming for transplant so that’s one of my weekend projects. Time for the 5 gallon. I still overwater when I transplant although not as much as I did 72 days ago. (she can be taught!)

Well, gonna pop into ye ole chat room and see if anyone is kickin around.

Hiya

Molasses is a chellating agent, meaning it changes the nutes into the food needed by the plants better and faster. That is a very condensed explanation. I read about molasses from the 3LB's at CW. hmmm, the link?

3LB's Molasses Guide

This is a good read

Thanks for the posts Mr GreenJeans, Bartender187 and Stankbud  and Sackoweed (just checked out your grow.. AWESOME).

I just use the molasses from the grocery store and have had pretty good results. I use the molasses and alfalfa on my miniture roses too and so far they haven't died. (a personal best) One of my beefs about buying herb was that I really didn't know what the herb had been exposed to so I didn't know how safe it was.

I priced out organic nutes, I knew that I needed a cheap alternative or it was gonna cut into my clothing budget and I love to shop so...... I figure molasses, alfalfa pellets, and epsom salt are cheap and safe. Worst case scenario is that the plants would start failing and I would have to invest in the big ticket nutes.. so far, that hasn't happened and I just bought a new outfit!

Hiya Growdoc

I totally agree. I don't doubt the benefits of going with commercial organic nutes. My hubby uses them and we have been very happy with the results, the smoke, everything. I was just looking for an alternative to give me a decent amount of yield and a good smoke.

thanks Stankbud! I am actually surprised they are still alive! Much easier to grow than some of the pets I have tried to raise.. 'cept dogs.. and I can't get them to stop reproducing!

I am testing "Alaska Morbloom" (i should really go check the spelling on that) on these cuz I got a bit para. The only place locally I can get Guano is at the hydro store and its owners have alot of buddies in blue. I know! That sucks. I have to keep reminding myself that this is not exactly legal...even in my rose coloured world.

Anyhow, once every second or third watering, they get a capful per gallon. Seems to be workin out .
