Jack Herer was introduced at (and won) the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1994. I think at this time Nevil was indeed still working with Sensi and probably one of the "us" mentioned by the Bedrocan owner. What Nevil said about the linage of Jack Herer is:

As I said in other thread that ''Nevile'',didnt know that he breed with NL9 and lots of fake infos and contradictions that story are belived by people like OJD who smoked a cut of something that is supposed JACK ,and know all about jack lineages and phenos but he never grow it XD,so I don't take much this quotes with some credibility.

Lineages are very different JH is more dark smelling and yild very poor and low.....but high will destroy you like you smoked first time....give me any SSH that is strong as Jack Herer I will give you anything.....
JH is psydelic dense and very powerfull.....SSH is uplifted afghan skunk.....
Grow them both and you will see....JH wins in every way.....in smoke department.

More I grow Sensi's gear more I see that Shanti didnt have any cut or nothing just use Sensi's stock and make hybrids like all today breeders do.

All in all if I am breeder I would like to give Jack more yild....with High you cant find anything stronger for shure.....It's even stronger than OG's....they are close but Jack is more wild.....and without that opiate like sedation OG's have.....Diesels,Og's and Chems have high of Jack and yild of Afghan/skunk.....thats all what can I say on this topic....

If you mean that I didnt grow Shanti's gear its not truth...I grow it and...find out nice plants,very good plants.....but in all Hazes I grow high is beautifull not strong not rushy not anything.....you can smoke it all day and be positive and happy....but didnt find that brutality of high like you have in Jack Herer.....this is strong,dense and psydelic high....real rollercoster ride.....only in Mr Nice gear what is comparable is Nevilles Haze....but very few phenos....that smell on danky/Pine/musky like sour again like Jack......

I dont say that Mr.Nice is bad or anything like that....maybe I wright this with bit of agression....but im agressive if people 1000 times pute the same qotes wich are obviously pure marketing rubish and thats all.....

Would you say that the regular packages are worth their money? Their legendary potency seems to still be there so a bit tempted to buy a pack myself..

Wonder if the fem version is as good... Would be a cheaper way to sample the smoke before buying regulars.. It's just instinct to be hesitant about Sensi these days i think. If that is based on unfounded rumours i dont know.. But i did order a superskunk pack this year and only 1 of 3 sprouted and that one didnt look like the sensi super skunks i grew in my younger days and potency turned out pretty low. Smelled good tho.

Well Nevil's main work happened 30-40 years ago. It's easy to get some of the things wrong after all that time... Even in that quote he says Silver Haze but from the context it's clear he means Super Silver Haze.

He was not a marketing troll for Mr Nice Seeds though. Let's not forget that he actually got banned from the Mr Nice forums and a lot of his posts were removed (including the one that quote is from).

But it is well documented that Jack Herer was introduced at the 1994 HTCC and that Nevil was working as a consultant for Sensi sometime in the 90's (not sure if in 94). So it is quite possible that he was involved. And unless there is more to the Bedrocan owner quote he doesn't explicitly deny it either. Where is the quote from? Also no one is disputing Nevil's involvement in creating SSH for Greenhouse Seeds.

I never grew SSH or JH. I have many times smoked weed that was claimed to be one or the other. For both, the case has usually been that they haven't been super strong. I haven't put the blame on the strains though. Rather just thought that it has been "commercial" phenos harvested early. Or maybe not what they were claimed to be at all.

Regarding things not being what they are claimed to be, that is a criticism that has been raised towards both Sensi and Mr Nice. If that is true, for even one of them, a side by side grow wouldn't really prove much about the origins. But of course would still be fascinating and like @strangebabylon I'm really interested if some of Sensi's legendary lines, especially in the regs, are still the same, or at least still good. Which is partly why this thread is of such huge interest.

From Mr Nice I have only grown Neville's Haze. It was good and hazy. But is it the same as when it first came out.. who knows.

With all this talk of MNS, it is strange that "someone" has not yet arrived to defend poor Shanti ....
Save your money, most things mns and sensiseeds are not the great strains of the past ...
These "seedbanks" have kept the names and glory of the past but in fact Jack and ssh are not the same as when they came out ...
I forgot, ssh and Jack are made from skunk , northern lights 5 and haze, but they are not the same obviously ....

I've grown JH many times from Sensi seed stock and if you find a good sativa-leaning pheno, keep her at all cost!
They're relatively frequent so not unicorns at all. Well grown and cured it can absolutely hold a candle to any of the new strains both in the terps and especially in the effects dept. The high is just blissful.
Jack Flash which is the fem version is also quite good but I have not yet found a great keeper in those (and I have grown out quite a few).

I order them at black friday with 50% discount....are they worth money you ask me ?

I will tell you straight if you think that you will find something what will smell and taste as good Gelato or new OG's hybrids you will not....for shure.
If you are commercial grower dont buy it.....

Yilds on most phenos are very ,very low..... smells are not plesent (modern) SSH ammo core cut smells way more ''modern'' then any pheno of Jack....

For me Jack most phenos smells like piney,gas,dirty,haze,meaty some have lemon/diesel to it.....few were big yilders that smells bit like SK1 earthy,fruty...and few smell like pure Haze or Haze doms like my pheno NL5Haze....

Phenos that are super fast under 60 days....are very poor yilders.....but high is very strong....as I said high is like Diesel,Chem's and OG's......but bit more wild and uplifting...no afghan/skunk in the mix.....

So my conclusion on Jack you need to like it to grow it....and the main thing what you search in Jack is potency.......yild,smell and taste are way better in modern hybirds.(to most people I like old school tastes herbaly and spicy not sweet candy)

25 years of human work and progress in technology,breeding and science simply cannot be ignored.

Probably after trying many varieties, and planting ..... I would conclude that the overall absolute winner in yild,smell and taste and high.... of all varieties is OG kush(sfv) ..... sativa phenotypes that are about 70-75 days .... lemony not earthy kush.

When I smoke Jack high remembers me OG kush....but OG taste and smell much better(way more terps) with more opiate sedation(which I dont like in OG's.)

Jack was the best weed in 94.... today we live in 2022....

I will say that these new American strains are decents of Jack x afghan or afghan skunk.......so when you smoke good OG,Diesel or Chem....you have high of Jack and terps of afghan skunk.....and that terps from A/Sk give opiate feeling....to Jack high and thats all.

I didnt find out in Jack something that will stand out in competiton with today hybrids...... Maybe potency and quality of high is better but smell and taste are so old school which many today dont like.

I will post pictures of first 10 phenos B and D in few days with smoke reports.

I hear you but newer is not necessarily better...also taste needs to develop and I for example am not too fond of some of the "modern" strains' sweet candyshop flavours... and virtually non are really stable as they're mostly not IBLs but stemming from unicorns found pheno hunting. And that's ok! I like some of them too. It's just very subjective what's "better" and almost 100% your own personal taste. And there was weed 40 years ago that kicks all the new candy strains in the dick, effect wise, so clearly something went missing over the course of this "evolution", which is really a shame...

This have been a cool thread to follow. Really nice to see SS Jack Herer grown from seed to finish, and with such a big selection. I have read many things about Jack through the years, but never really seen many grows. So thanks.
And I'm happy to hear that you believe that it is the same as always.
By the looks of what you got, did you find the pheno A you were looking for? (sorry if I missed it somewhere in the thread)

Large flowers of medium density leaving plenty of room for trichomes to fill in. It was nothing like the 5 or 10 phenos of "jack" lemon dom stuff I have seen in recent years. I found out 3 phenos that are phenos A.....I think....number 24 Is by the smell keeper so far its its hazy,camphor,menthol,grean tee,basil,metalic,peppery spice,gassy.
Like perfect mix of Haze and Shiva Sk...but its still drying so very early to tell till I smoke them all.
As you can see my pheno and Sensi's A pheno....so thats It....

Hi In reality lemon Jack I dont know where it come from probably Sannie's....Of all phenos I have right now some are lemony....but its more like gassy/diesel limes but not like OG way....
I also grown Sannies Jack before....and it have woody and lemony phenos....also musky like skunk....In Sensi Jack smell I get are...... Green tea,pine,gassy,meaty,hazy....musky......hard to describe...but very old school smells...that are closer to CBD and Hemp than to modern hybrids.....they are not so refined like new strains.

Smells are closer to Bandaid Hz,Nevilles Haze,A5 haze.....than Amnesia,Super Lemon etc.....In fact not any pheno even is close to SSH,SLH tipe of smells at all....
Smells are like basement piff old school.....
Probably most of this NY piffs cut comes from this seed line....
I tried to smoke few INDICA phenos....and I get very good sativa high....while smoke reminds me of old school NL in taste.....that herbal musky pine.....
High on this pheno I tried is very plesent high......NL high.....other 1 I smoked is crazy shit....it feels like your head is painted with something inside....very strong...evil herb....and it has lemony/diesel,gassy pine,green tea meat smells....

Its much better, also like my NL5xhaze cutting I growed before if its consumed outside....that's the place when high really shine.
But even those phenos at 56 days provide you energie when smoked and when high fades away its super fresh feeling without any heavyness.
After high fades away I was able and have will for training session....

I have to say that breeders of this strain make great job they give you pure ''sativa'' expirence in under 77 days of flower.....

PS. Probably I lost some yild on them with stressing them to go faster as they can to harvest.....low humidity,high humidty.....wind burn....etc....high temp,low temp.....but anyway If you do selection and grow Sativas you dont mind what will be on scale.......

If you search for old school weed,there in no better place to go. Than JH from Sensi's reg's....all phenos have old school look/smell/high and taste....with hazy vibes while burning.
