Ok, so I'm thinking about the changes I wanna make before next run.

Going what Raph and I have talked about I really need to fix my tank/res situation.

So I've been thinking and I can come up with 3 alternatives:

picture.php

These are the pros and cons I can think of.

ALT.1:
Pros:
Smaller chiller (cheaper in $ and watts).

Cons:
Since my roots grow into the tank, a small tank will have less room for roots.

ALT.2:
Pros:
More room for roots.
Medium chiller (could be a con as far as $ and W's go).

Cons:
A little construction needed, I need to connect the tanks for the chiller to work.

ALT.3
Pros:
Lots of room for roots.
Only one big tank.

Cons:
Larger chiller needed.

Any input and/or pros and cons for the alts you guys can give me is highly appreciated!

Another question I have is this:
If I go with alt 1 or 2, should the water butt just contain RO-water or nutrient solution?

Cheers!

It's picture time!

It's picture time!

Cause I know you love it! :dance013:

So this is almost the end of week 7:

Half of the ladies, the smaller ones, are basically done. But I'm going to give them one more week to try and get rid of the last fluff.

The "mothers" are coming along, I topped them and some of them got stunted by that I guess. Hopefully in about 2 weeks they'll be big enough to give my the clones I need.

And finally, pictures of the infamous 'The 24':

It's gonna be real interesting to see how they progress.

Ok, so let's take some bets!

What do you guys think the big bloom-tent will yield?

I'm happy if I get 1000 grams or 2.2 lbs.

This is a very very nice set up bro, I really like those trays wish they were about when I used to grow NFT would have saved me a lot of fookin about fitting EC/pH pens & mixing through that ridiculous gap with nutriculture's systems (GT205, GT424 et-al). Does that stand come with them or did u pick that up somewhere else?

Also great pictures of the set up, haven't seen a good pictorial in a while, probably need to spend more time in grow room designs & set up forum :D lol.

Where do you have the rez for the NFT trays, how is the return plumbed back?

I am currently using a 2m x 2m x 2m budbox titan, in this I have 4 x 600's, on the 2nd page of the thread you said you were using a DR300 and it was 10' x 5' x 6.5', all the DR300's I see online say 3m x 3m x 2m and I can't seem to find any other's with that the size spec you state - not trying to be an asshole or anything just relative to the suggestions I have. Which are.... I would be very tempted if I had that tent to set up the space using 6 x 600's or 3 x 1000's (lekky usage permitting) also add some more trays as access to the inside in available from all side of that dr. tent. Also with the trays being on those stands you could always take one out to gain access to middle of grow etc (man power permitting :D).

I also think that the space the verts are in this run is space where you could of had bud growing which may also effect yield.

If yield increasing yield is the objective, then more light and plants/ veg is the way forward.

BTW I am very jealous of your set up man!!! :joint:

Hey dude and thanks!

Yeah, the weird thing is more stores sell the nutriculture systems than the hydrogarden ones. Does stand are accessories to the system (kind of a bad fit tho, had to raise them to get proper flow).

Also great pictures of the set up, haven't seen a good pictorial in a while, probably need to spend more time in grow room designs & set up forum :D lol.

Oh, you came from my tank thread in design? :)

The only res' are the two you see, the ones that the tables "stand" on. 18 gal each.

No worries dude! The correct name is DR300W (W for wide) and it's 3x1.5x2 meters.

Lekky wise, I have 2kW available for bloom, have some reserved for mothers, clones and veg. (Apt grow, so lekky is restricted).

Lifting out the tables is practically impossible, even tho the man power permits it  ;) Especially when they start growing thru the net.

I also think that the space the verts are in this run is space where you could of had bud growing which may also effect yield.

So you think the verts are a waste of space? I was thinking I would change the hoods to dual-bulb ones...

If yield increasing yield is the objective, then more light and plants/ veg is the way forward.

Well, yeah, as long as the quality stays high. Next run will be 9 clones per table, 36 in total.

BTW I am very jealous of your set up man!!! :joint:

Always nice to make people jealous. LOL! :D

Anyway, thanks for a really good post man!

Hope I've cleared some of the ??? up.

Cheers!

Am finishing moving in, and will have more time to read and respond in the coming week. Nonetheless, I am still lurking and things look great

Hi bro, thanks for seeing the suggestions as constructive criticism, some might have taken it the wrong way... I didn't see your set up thread in grow room & designs but I know there are a lot of sweet pictorials in that forum usually.

Lekky wise, I have 2kW available for bloom, have some reserved for mothers, clones and veg. (Apt grow, so lekky is restricted).

I thought there might be some restriction due to apartment... Fair enough bro, although I have run 2.4kw+ fans etc, in an apartment, I wouldn't want to suggest you step outside what u feel comfortable with in there.

Lifting out the tables is practically impossible, even tho the man power permits it Especially when they start growing thru the net.

Doh! How stupid of me I forgot about the nets, you could get around it by using bamboo but I see what your saying... bit of a PITA in general hey :D

So you think the verts are a waste of space? I was thinking I would change the hoods to dual-bulb ones...

Well I definitely think that they would be better off above as apposed to within the plants, I am aware of the benefits of vert lighting but I think they would be better over than within in this scenario. It's just they are taking canopy space up and diminishing your sq/ft while they're at it.

Can I ask if your gonna top or train these next 9 per tray? As I see your adverse to a bit of vegging you could really fill that space a treat!

BTW I'm with Raph circa 2.2#'s on this run.

Hey ITryToGrow, finally am responding I'm sorry there has been more to do than expected!

Looking at the diagrams, alt 1 could hold 400w of canopy, alt 2 could hold 800w and alt 3 could hold 2000w.

If you run 2000w on alt 1, the chiller would run constantly as the increased canopy size would drink the water and so the chiller will have less time to cool down the water before the plants drink it.

You run into the same issue if you run 2000w on alt 2, albeit the problem won't be as bad, and if you get a medium chiller it might not run all the time.

If you get a medium/big chiller than the 100gal version will support a 2000w canopy with a top off of RO water from the water butt. Unless you have a tds controller it is dangerous to top off with nutrient solution as the plants eat and drink at different levels throughout their lives. I have found letting the tds go from 1400-1100 by having the RO top off the res using a float valve before I topped off with nutes does well:)

Cheers bro

Hey man!

Oh no doubt. I'm always willing to learn!

I thought there might be some restriction due to apartment... Fair enough bro, although I have run 2.4kw+ fans etc, in an apartment, I wouldn't want to suggest you step outside what u feel comfortable with in there.

Well, that's the thing. Bloom: 2kW, clones: 125W, mothers: 400W, veg: 400W + fans, pumps and so on.

Doh! How stupid of me I forgot about the nets, you could get around it by using bamboo but I see what your saying... bit of a PITA in general hey :D

Yeah, problem with the bamboo is that there's basically no place to put them... :(

Well I definitely think that they would be better off above as apposed to within the plants, I am aware of the benefits of vert lighting but I think they would be better over than within in this scenario. It's just they are taking canopy space up and diminishing your sq/ft while they're at it.

Yeah, I hear ya, but then you have to solve this problem:

I'm trying to stay true to the 60/40 ratio of HPS/MH, Problem with the hydrofarm dual-bulb (only one I know of) is the footprint is not really suitable for the tent I have.

So feel free to hit me with suggestions!

Can I ask if your gonna top or train these next 9 per tray? As I see your adverse to a bit of vegging you could really fill that space a treat!

Hmm, didn't plan on it. But I'm flexible. The problem tho is that I really didn't plan to veg more than 2 weeks.

BTW I'm with Raph circa 2.2#'s on this run.

I sure hope you guys are right! Doesn't feel like it's that much atm.

Cheers
