is it possible to harvest 1 lb every month with a 600 watt hps?

hey sour , Im with demon trich ; not sure how you can do perpetual with those parameters. I have been growing well over 20 years (still a novice tho) and my best single harvest was around 13 z under 1 600 hps in a 4x4 tent with soil in 5 gallon bags . However that was not using any "super yield" strains .Mostly DJ Short Flo. I am pretty sure I could break that lb mark If I was a better grower, The only thing I dont have going for me environmentally is CO2. Other than that my tent stays under 78 at all times and usually is barely above 70 (lights on). I also top all plants and I clean my tent every other day. If I knew more about Nutes and soiless mixes Im sure i could break into the lb club, or setting up Hydro might get me there.... I enjoy the final product from dirt grown flowers more than other methods. Good luck

i have gotten 14.5 zips with a 400. and with a 600 around 1 1/4 lb.. i think with a heavy yielding strain ,co2 and everything dialed in it should be possible....i don't grow heavy yielding strains generally...you can harvest weekly with perpetual if ya want..what ya mean???? its only in the beginning where its slow...if i put a strain in to flower and add more weekly before long i am harvesting weekly...simple as that.

It can be done (I know because I do it regularly). As mentioned, it's not likely going to happen without overlap from other lights, and being dialed to the tits. Frankly, if you're asking these kinds of questions your skill set isn't even close to up to par for the task at hand. Shoot for a 1lb per 600 per harvest and work your way up from there. Also i'll save you ton of time and money while you're learning, the answer to this puzzle won't be found in any shiny bottle promising miracle yield increases.

if you got a 60 day strain put in half plants, wait 30 days put in the rest..after the initial 60 days you then will be harvesting every 30 days....simple..modify it to your needs...basic growing 101,,the issue with perpetual and one light is even canopy,, and theres several ways to overcome this........yeehaw

Short answer: technically yes, but practically speaking, no.

1.5g/w is pretty nuts. Not possible with most phenos, so you'd have to have a pretty sick cut. Couldn't do it perpetual harvest, need a dense plant matrix and an even canopy. Also, it's essentially impossible with a single lamp. Frankly, I don't think it would be possible to provide a stable enough environment unless you have a room with enough cu. ft. to provide a bit of a buffer so your atmospheric parameters stay steady. A stable pH is also necessary to max out yields, and for that you need a doser or injectors. Preflowering a bit never hurts, either. Basically, you have to think of everything, including the things you didn't think of.

So, my friend, chase the yield dragon at your own peril! If you do, like Ahab, you shall slowly go mad chasing your impossible goal - which ultimately kills you anyway, so fuck it.

Finally, as has already been pointed out, if you could learn to do a gram and a half per watt on a forum, everyone would be doing it :)

Alright, let's hear from the wildly statistically unlikely number of exceptions...

1.5g/w is pretty nuts

why are many making mistakes on such basic math?

a pound under 600W does NOT equate 1.5g per watt.

if a pound equals 453.5 grams, how will it take 1.5g per watts under a 600watt bulb to reach said pound? don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question.

1.5 grams per watt under a 600watt bulb equals 900grams.

people dividing 600/453.5 are doing their math wrong.

to get a pound off a 600watt lamp, you'd need to pull about 0.76 grams per watt.

now, how did I get to that result? that's homework son

Hey Bombadil - you got a bitchin cut that flowers in 30 days for him? Because getting 1 lb a month from a 60 day strain means that ya gotta grow two pounds in a cycle.

Now how did I get that result? That's homework son.

See, there I go being a smart-ass again, hahaha

you think the OP meant he wanted 1 pound a month under a 600Watter from start of flower to end? or maybe you thought it was from seed to harvest a pound in 30 days? give the OP some credit, will you?

the correct answer to the wrong variable you included in your "math" was already answered:

yeah its possible , but your room has to be a dialed in set up !
my average was 3/4's with a 600 watt bulb , but as i tweeked the room & got the environment better .... the yields started to pack on more weight . now i'm closer to that 1 gram per watt thing than i've ever been .

where were your improvements made, dan?:groupwave:

Hmmmm, not sure how much this will help, but...

Staggering your harvest doesn't double it. If he staggered it monthly then he would STILL only be getting a half pound a month at .75g/w. There is a reason people have been telling the OP that he isn't gonna be able to pull a pound a month. The reason is because he would have to hit 1.5g/w. If you are still confused, I'll let someone else have a go at explaining it.

oh shit, you are 100% right, I'm sorry, my bad.

I got confused when I kept reading that he'd need to pull 1.5gram per watt under a 600watt and I kept shaking my head LOL...

it was my mistake in that I did not consider the SPACE variable involved in staggering each 30 days under that 600 watt. doh!

my apologies!

peace!

Yeah, he needs ~1.5 gpw to get 2 pounds every 2 months (1 pound every month).

Not rocket science.

Yeah people do this once in a while. It comes down to watts per sq ft. In this case time really only matters when considering 8 week or 12 week strains.

600w is not going to achieve 1 per month if you want top quality. That's just not feasible. MAYBE if you crop the shit out of it and throw in every lower scraggly "bud" but you lose a lot of overall quality and it's still unlikely that you'll get top quality.

Thx for the input guys guess over 1 g per watt is few and far between... been looking at leds.... need to move and utilize the sun..... skylights.... hopefully before I die ill showcase something like that here.... gonna destroy that gram per watt thing:) Ill use a 13 watt cfl.... lol
